[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1001322] [NEW] calc confused about window-size when not full-screen
You have been subscribed to a public bug: libreoffice calc works fine in a full-screen window (as it starts up), but as soon as the window is shrunk (either due to dragging or hitting the window-bar button) it gets very confused. It still believes that it is full-screen, to top and left: If I hit alt-F then the 'file' menu appears disembodied over on the LH side of screen where it would be if the app was still full-screen. It looks as if the application never gets the 'window stopped being fullscreen' message. I can carry on using the application in the smaller window: keypresses move the selected cell. There are scrollbars part way across the window both horizontally and vertically. They stay a constant distance from the right and bottom window edges, respectively. clicks work inside the 'scroll-bar delineated' area, but not the area outside the scrollbars but inside the window. Only the window-manager bar to the right of the vertical scrollbar is redrawn - the part to the left is overwritten by the application toolbars. The window area between the scrollbars and the RHS/bottom window edge is not redrawn and just contains 'old' screen data. I've added a screenshot to make this rather clearer. I'm using xfce and thus xfwm4 window-manager. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 968845] Re: bcm5974 touchpad doesn't work after S3 on MacBookAir
Hi, I have a Macbook 7,1 with a similar trackpad to the above mentioned Macbook Air. My trackpad uses the bcm5974 module, and in the original release of Ubuntu 12.04, my trackpad stopped working after suspending my computer. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 990904] [NEW] Dual monitor problem after upgrade to 12.04
You have been subscribed to a public bug: The issue started immediately after upgrading to 12.04. I use a Toshiba Satellite A100-906 with LG W1934S as an external monitor. When I disconnect the external monitor, the mouse pointer gets stuck at the vertical side edge of the notebook's display, only moving vertically. Moreover, when I try to switch to the virtual consoles, instead of consoles. blank screens appear. This does not happen when the external monitor is connected. I use the same xorg.conf with 11.10. It occurs with lightdm, lxdm and kdm. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1001192] Re: updated to ubuntu 12.04, black screen. Have to use ubuntu with linux 3.2.0-24 generic (recovery mode)
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected precise regression-update ubuntu ** Description changed: Ubuntu 12.04 (precise) 32 bit Kernel Linux 3.2.0-24 generic Gnomes 3.4.1 I updated last night to Ubuntu 12.04 Only all i get when i turn on the computer is a black screen. The only way to log in is to press tab insistently, until i get a purplish screen where i can see : Ubuntu with Linux 3.2.0-24 generic Ubuntu with Linux 3.2.0-24 generic (recovery mode) Previous Linux Versions Memory Test (memtest 86+) Memory Test (memtest 86+, serial console 115200) With the Recovery Mode i am able to log into ubuntu Only nothing really works quite right. For example, on the top right of the screen, i can see :"This bug is a security vulnerability . The security contact for Ubuntu, Ubuntu Security Team, will be notified" But when i want to click on it, where the mouse goes, it goes black too for some reason. The top left of the screen goes kind of white, and goes back to normal when i pass the mouse on it. Or also down the screen, i have a bit of a black background with white writing, and doesn't go away no matter what : Skipping profile in /etc/apparmor .d/disable: usr.bin.firefox Skipping profile in /etc/apparmor .d/disable: usr.sbin.rsyslogd *starting AppArmor profiles *Setting sensors limits speech-dispatcher disabled; edit /etc/defaul/speech-dispatcher also i tried to update the manager twice, but it fails every time !! [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 982710] Re: [regression] Nvidia 295.40 driver is extremely slow
@Alberto Milone: Yes both 295.40 and 295.49. And now with 295.53 (X updates ppa) i do not dare trying Unity3D, and now i use Xubuntu. The 295.49 driver was working a long time and i was thinking that the problem with freezing was solved, and then all of a sudden the computer screen freezes again. All in Unity 3D. Therefore in my opinion the problem isn't gone. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/982710 Title: [regression] Nvidia 295.40 driver is extremely slow To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nvidia-drivers-ubuntu/+bug/982710/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 892440] Re: Xorg crashes when using kicad.
I have the same problem, kicad seems to crash the Xorg server when zooming or scrolling around. Usually i can still move the mouse cursor, but p.e. switching to a console doesn't work. Shortly after the crash, the magic system request keys still reboot the machine, sometimes even those stop working. I tried with the intel drivers and with the ironhide nvidia drivers (optirun kicad) on a Dell XPS L702X, both crash. The only thing in Xorg.1.log is . . . [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 64bit completely freezes frequently
Installed kernel 3.3.6 as suggested and now my system seems more stable. Until now no lock ups. For those who are still suffering from this bug, please try this. Comment #91 is the way to do it. Oh yeah of course the command 'dpkg' needs to be sudo dpkg. The only thing Ubuntu 12.04 still does is a present me with screen flickering sometimes, but that's probably some other bug. Shouldn't we change this bug? It is not related to the X-org package, but I think we found out it's a problem in the current kernel. How can we reach the kernel developers? Although kernel 3.3.6 solves the problem we need someone to backport the fix, I think. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993187 Title: ubuntu 12.04 64bit completely freezes frequently To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/993187/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1001282] [NEW] Disable Touchpad While Typing doesn't Work
Public bug reported: I have a Dell Inspiro m4050 notebook and installed ubuntu 12.04 LTS recently. I've tryed dconf-editor to edit the "Disable touchpad while typing" configuration, but it is already checked. But, without any evident error, the touchpad still works while I'm typing. So I need to disable touchpad "tapping" to avoid errors while I'm typing. I have a medium knowledge of linux and Ubuntu, but I don't know what logs to look for errors. dmesg seems alright and so the Xorg.0.log. xserver-xorg-input-synaptics package details: $ apt-cache policy xserver-xorg-input-synaptics xserver-xorg-input-synaptics: Instalado: 1.5.99.902-0ubuntu5.1 Candidato: 1.5.99.902-0ubuntu5.1 Tabela de versão: *** 1.5.99.902-0ubuntu5.1 0 500 http://br.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise-updates/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1.5.99.902-0ubuntu5 0 500 http://br.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/main i386 Packages ** Affects: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: touchpad -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1001282 Title: Disable Touchpad While Typing doesn't Work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/1001282/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

@ angus - given the number of people who have reported that 295.49 has fixed their problem, it is probable that you have a different bug, particularly if using a different output connector on your computer works (can you try that?). There are a couple of comments that 295.49-0ubuntu0.1 has fixed this problem, and another comment that it improved things although not to the same standard as previously. Given that there are no reports of regressions I feel that we should should get this out the door sooner rather than later, as it is holding up the fix for bug #982485 which has been verified. ** Tags removed: verification-needed ** Tags added: verification-done -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/982710 Title: [regression] Nvidia 295.40 driver is extremely slow To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nvidia-drivers-ubuntu/+bug/982710/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 982485] Re: [regression] Nvidia 295.40: Unity 3D does not work at all with the new nvidia driver
@ Abhishek Kharvadi (abhihello) - the fix for the 32-bit version will be released at the same time as the fix for the 64-bit version. I'm not sure when that will be though. Martin Pitt probably knows. If you want to get it before then see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed @ everybody - NVIDIA has indeed released a new driver, version 295.53 - see http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=MTEwMzk However it is not packaged in the normal (recommended) Ubuntu repositories yet - see https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-updates It is also not in proposed yet - see the above link and http://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-archive/pending-sru.html This of course doesn't matter too much as the fix for this bug is in 295.49. I have just found out why 295.49-0ubuntu0.1 has not migrated from -proposed to the normal (recommended) repository - according to http://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-archive/pending-sru.html it is being held up by bug #982710 which is still awaiting verification of a fix in 295.49-0ubuntu0.1 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/982485 Title: [regression] Nvidia 295.40: Unity 3D does not work at all with the new nvidia driver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nvidia-drivers-ubuntu/+bug/982485/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1001238] [NEW] Xorg crash on laptop after disconnecting external monitor
Public bug reported: When disconnecting the external monitor from my thinkpad with ubuntu 12.04 X crashes and I get a new login screen presented on the laptop display - loosing all non saved data... Prior to 12.04 (I am not sure about 11.10 cause I skipped it) X simply switched to laptop display only (even if it was not used before disconnecting the external monitor). Current state makes docking station usage a data risk! [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1001164] Re: package x11-utils 7.6+4 failed to install/upgrade: failed to read on buffer copy for md5hash: Input/output error
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal: sudo apt-get clean Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a memory test. Thanks in advance! [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1000775] Re: [12.04] [ Precise] .xsession-errors getting spammed filling up the disk.
gdm had code to limit the number of lines to the error file, so lightdm should probably do the same. It would also mean that lightdm would have it's own Xsession startup script, which doesn't redirect stdout/stderr to ~/.xsession-errors. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => lightdm (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: lightdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Critical => Medium ** Changed in: lightdm (Ubuntu) Status: New => Triaged ** Changed in: lightdm (Ubuntu) Assignee: Timo Aaltonen (tjaalton) => (unassigned) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1000775 Title: [12.04] [ Precise] .xsession-errors getting spammed filling up the disk. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1000775] Re: [12.04] [ Precise] .xsession-errors getting spammed filling up the disk.
What does moving the file to /tmp solve? For the default install /tmp is on the same fs as root, so it would just fill root instead of /home (unless they're both the same fs..) The best way to solve this is to move the file to the per-user runtime dir, which we'll get for 12.10. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1000775 Title: [12.04] [ Precise] .xsession-errors getting spammed filling up the disk. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 982485] Re: [regression] Nvidia 295.40: Unity 3D does not work at all with the new nvidia driver
I have updated to the new 295.53 driver via the normal ubuntu precise update process yesterday so it must have been rolled out to the repositoriesunfortunately it has not resolved my problem.
