[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 966744] Re: Resume from suspend leaves me with black screen or a screen of the desktop before it suspended (though the mouse still moves/changes cursor)
I don't know if this is useful, but I am experiencing the blank screen + moving cursor + high CPU ussage + locked keyboard problem. I am running 12.04 AMD64 with propietary Nvidia graphic drivers. Suspend and Resume work FINE if I use Unity 2D or Gnome Classic (no effects). It does show the problem with Unity, Gnome Shell, Gnome Classic, and Cinnamon. In all of these the var/usr/pm-suspend.log shows the resume from suspend worked. I think the problem is in Compiz (at least in my case). My computer used to resume and suspend with no problem with Maverick. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/966744 Title: Resume from suspend leaves me with black screen or a screen of the desktop before it suspended (though the mouse still moves/changes cursor) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz-core/+bug/966744/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 882710] Re: [NVIDIA] Monitor(s) black out and session freezes. NVRM: GPU at 0000:01:00.0 has fallen off the bus.
GPU falls off the bus also on Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit + Dell Precision T5400 (Nvidia Quadro FX 570). Nvidia drivers are the latest 302.17. All this seems to be very well known on the NV mailing lists and forums, which show similar bug reports also for 295.x drivers and other distros. In my case, the screen does not get black, but merely freezes. The machine does not hang and remains reachable via ssh. In my case it does not seem to be temperature related (machine is in an air conditioned room, with little load, almost no graphical load and monitor reports the gpu at 57 °C). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/882710 Title: [NVIDIA] Monitor(s) black out and session freezes. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1020143] [NEW] After installing Ubuntu 12.04 my laptop touchpad randomly stops responding
Public bug reported: In the past I have seen similar issues with this laptop when not turning off the option to disable touchpad while typing, however with 12.04 this still occurs even when that option is turned off. Essentially what happens is the mouse (touchpad) will be working fine and then suddenly just stop responding. Keyboard input still responds correctly. Logging in/out does not fix the issue, a full restart seems to be required. Please let me know if there is any additional information I can provide to get this fixed. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1015183] Re: Inconsistent mouse events for Acer T231H multitouch monitor
I applied the patches in #11 and #12 to the current precise xserver-xorg-core source (1.11.4-0ubuntu10.2) and unfortunately, it does not solve the atmel maXtouch loss of single click (I can reproduce that behavior systematically by calling Compiz's Expo plugin and double-clicking one of the viewport; after that single-click is lost). Worse, drag'n drop does not work anylonger (e.g. to move a window by cliking-holding-moving its title bar). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1020221] [NEW] Connecting an external Monitor over DisplayPort freezes the screen

A few seconds after pulling the cable out the system works normally again. - ProblemType: Bug - DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.10 + Filing this against the driver and not the kernel as the nvidia driver + works somewhat fine. + + ProblemType: BugDistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.10 Package: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:1.0.1-1build1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.5.0-2.2-generic 3.5.0-rc4 Uname: Linux 3.5.0-2-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.2.5-0ubuntu1 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: kwin Date: Mon Jul 2 19:31:07 2012 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: quantal DistroVariant: kubuntu ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes, whatever it takes to get this fixed in Ubuntu GraphicsCard: - NVIDIA Corporation GT218 [NVS 3100M] [10de:0a6c] (rev a2) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) -Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:215c] + NVIDIA Corporation GT218 [NVS 3100M] [10de:0a6c] (rev a2) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) + Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:215c] InstallationMedia: Kubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot - Beta amd64 (20111007) MachineType: LENOVO 4349W1R ProcEnviron: - SHELL=/bin/bash - TERM=screen - PATH=(custom, user) - LANG=en_US.UTF-8 - LANGUAGE=en_US.UTF-8 - ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/@/boot/vmlinuz-3.5.0-2-generic root=UUID=238190c9-6304-41fe-892a-28596720e11b ro rootflags=subvol=@ - SourcePackage: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau + SHELL=/bin/bash + TERM=screen + PATH=(custom, user) + LANG=en_US.UTF-8 + LANGUAGE=en_US.UTF-8 + ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/@/boot/vmlinuz-3.5.0-2-generic root=UUID=238190c9-6304-41fe-892a-28596720e11b ro rootflags=subvol=@SourcePackage: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 10/26/2010 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: 6MET81WW (1.41 ) dmi.board.name: 4349W1R dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: Not Available dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Information dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: Not Available dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvr6MET81WW(1.41):bd10/26/2010:svnLENOVO:pn4349W1R:pvrThinkPadT510:rvnLENOVO:rn4349W1R:rvrNotAvailable:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrNotAvailable: dmi.product.name: 4349W1R dmi.product.version: ThinkPad T510 dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO version.compiz: compiz N/A version.ia32-libs: ia32-libs 20090808ubuntu36 version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.33-3 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 8.0.3-0ubuntu1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental N/A version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 8.0.3-0ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-core: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.12.1.902-1ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.7.0-0ubuntu2 version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.14.99~really6.14.4-0ubuntu2 version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.19.0-1ubuntu2 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:1.0.1-1build1 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1020221 Title: Connecting an external Monitor over DisplayPort freezes the screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-nouveau/+bug/1020221/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1014318] [NEW] Multilingual keyboard does not work properly
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Using Ubuntu Precise, French version. * The keyboard is configured to use French (variant). * I add Arabic to the layout list. * Then I switch from from French (variant) to Arabic. * I typed some text in Gedit, but the input is still french, not Arabic letters as expected. * The keyboard indicator display Ar with its icon, but its layout list says French (variant) is selected, which is inconsistant (see attached screen‑shot picture) Ubuntu Precise seems to have a bug there. There is a trick. * I removed Arabic from the layout list. * I added French to the layout list, together with French (variant) * Then I added Arabic again * I switched from French Variant to Arabic * I typed some text in Gedit, now the input was Arabic For some weird reasons, seems French (variant) must come with French together, for the switch to work. Another trick. * I then removed French from the layout list, leaving alone French (variant) with Arabic. * I switched to French (variant) then to Arabic * I typed some text in Gedit, it was Arabic. For some weird reasons, seems switching from French (variant) to Arabic requires French was activated some time before, and if was not (as in the first attempt), it does not work. A third trick. I then restart the machine, but could not login, because the connexion screen was sticked to Arabic, and my password is French. Switching to French with the keyboard indicator have no effect, and there is no way to login at all. May be worth to note during the boot process, the connexion screen first show a keyboard indicator which says Fr, but then quickly and automatically switch itself to Ar. I had to manually edit /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf using another OS (An installation of Ubuntu Maverick on the same machine) to tell the cession manager to automatically login my user name. Then I was able to remove the Arabic layout. I restarted the machine, then disabled automatic connexion, and it was working fine. In short, there are multiple weird tricks with multilingual keyboard layout, which can be seriously blocking, and enough to disable one to login, which is a lot blocking. ** Affects: xkeyboard-config (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: connection keyboard layout multilingual precise unity -- Multilingual keyboard does not work properly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1014318 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xkeyboard-config in Ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1014318] Re: Multilingual keyboard does not work properly
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 985065 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/985065 The bug is still there. So, either this bug report is not a duplicate of the other, or else, the other is not really solved. I've just tested on the Precise partition, after all updates applied. Switching keyboard layouts still don't work, it stick on one single layout, and even if I remove this layout, it still apply, even after a computer restart. Example: the only one active layout for me is « Français (variant) » but the keyboard still act as if it was « Français (variant obsolete) », while the latter is not even in the active layout list. If I try to have both « Français (variant) » and « Français (variant obsolete) » in the layout list, I can't switch from one to the other. The keyboard indicator says Fr and in the list, « Français (variant) » is selected, but it acts as if it « Français (variant obsolete) » was selected. If I try to switch to « Français (variant obsolete) », the keyboard indicator says Fr2, seems it switched so, but if I open the menu, it shows « Français (variant) » is still selected. Summary: the keyboard indicator contradict itself, and there is no way to switch from a a layout to another, it stick to one. It happens sometime it changes, but I don't how why, it's very rare, and cannot be predicated. Example: one single time, I could switch to Arabic, but then it did not want to switch back to French, and I had to manually edit a file from a rescue CD to be able to longin on the Precise partition (which I don't really use, as the keyboard is not functional). This was nice with Maverick. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xkeyboard-config in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1014318 Title: Multilingual keyboard does not work properly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xkeyboard-config/+bug/1014318/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1011732] Re: External display blinks off periodically
I've got two Samsung P2450 monitors and am seeing something similar. Monitor A was deployed as as the external monitor connected to the Ubuntu laptop docking station using DVI-D. Laptop has Nvidia GeForce Go 7600. Monitor B was the secondary monitor on a Windows XP Gaming PC with Nvidia 9800GT using DVI-D to HDMI. It recently returned from a warranty repair because its backlight inverters had failed. Monitor B seemed to have a problem with losing sync for a second or two during intense gaming but also sometimes with web browsing (seemed to correlate to sudden changes to high brightness). The monitor would display the HDMI OSD briefly when it recovered. We swapped the monitors to determine if the problem was the XP PC's video card or monitor B. Monitor A suffered the same loss of sync issue but seemingly much less frequently. Monitor B on the laptop worked fine for several weeks until... ... this weekend the property lost power due to a lightening strike on the overhead lines. Since then it will frequently blank for about a second and then recover. It doesn't seem to be losing sync since there is no OSD after recover. This strikes me as more likely a failing capacitor issue but having found this bug it may be worth digging some more on the software side. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1011732 Title: External display blinks off periodically To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1011732/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 927051] [NEW] On bootup, 'screenshot of shutdown' flashes up
You have been subscribed to a public bug: This happens to me (I think) on every boot, and has done for some time (not just in Precise). I believe it also happens between Ubuntu version - e.g. when dual booting a flash of oneiric is seen in precise. To reproduce: 1. Open a window (firefox, totem, etc) 2. Restart Ubuntu (don't close the window) 3. During bootup, watch carefully. During the process, the window that was open during shutdown flashes up on the screen for a second or so. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 927051] Re: On bootup, 'screenshot of shutdown' flashes up
The only possible way this could happen is that the video card is not being reset during a reboot so when X starts it shows the old contents of the FB. I don't believe this is a lightdm or unity-greeter issue. Those programs have no visibility to what is on your desktop when you restart. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1015183] Re: Inconsistent mouse events for Acer T231H multitouch monitor
Hi Martin, Thanks for finding this issue. Good work on making some patches, but I don't think they are quite right. We need to set the internal button state of the device when the touch begin comes in, otherwise we will not get the right result when we call {X,XI}QueryPointer(). A simpler solution would be to modify DeliverTouchEmulatedEvent(). There is the following line: ptrev-device_event.corestate = event_get_corestate(dev, kbd); We need to modify it so that it also passes in a boolean to event_get_corestate() to determine whether to mix the touch emulated button state in with the normal button state. Then, we tell the function to mix in the touch emulated state only on touch update and end events. We can reason that this is correct because only one touch may be emulated at a time per device, and because only one window may receive an emulated button press for the touch begin at a time. I will attempt to make a test and a patch for this tomorrow. Thanks! ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = In Progress ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Chase Douglas (chasedouglas) ** No longer affects: xserver-xorg-input-evdev (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1015183 Title: Inconsistent mouse events for Acer T231H multitouch monitor To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1015183/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1012916] Re: [nouveau] 12.04 Unity 3d hard freezes
Well this just happened again to me with same PFIFO_CACHE_ERROR nouveau errors in dmesg. Although this time it happened on gnome-shell, which is my normal desktop where I have never seen this before. I have only had this happen on those rare times I try Unity. I had updated earlier today and noticed my kernel went from linux-image-generic-pae = 3.5.0.2.2 - 3.5.0.3.3 and xserver-xorg-video-nouveau = 1.0.1+git20120628.0d2b414a-0ubuntu0sarvatt~precise - 1.0.1+git20120702 .0d2b414a-0ubuntu0sarvatt~precise. At least we now know it is not specific to Compiz/Unity. Looks like a kernel and/or nouveau issue. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1018241] Re: Kernel panic with ppp and keyspan usa-19hs
An essential requirement for the kernel panic is a setup command sent to the USR modem from the chat script: ATS13.0=1. e.g. in the file /etc/chatscripts/pap before the ATDT command. ATZ OK ATS13.0=1 OK ATDT\T The definition of S13 bit 0 is: Reset (modem) when DTR drops. It is possible that pppd closes the dialup connection and starts to close the USB device, but then the modem reset causes an interrupt to be issued by the USB-to-Serial adapter while the device driver is in an inconsistent state. The work-around for the issue is to clear S13 bit 0 by sending... OK ATS13.0=0 The ppp connection then closes cleanly and can be restarted. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-evdev in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1018241 Title: Kernel panic with ppp and keyspan usa-19hs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/1018241/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
