[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1030165] Re: Xorg can't use nvidia card with nouveau but doesn't fallback to vesa
Ok, I'll update the bug report using the lastest daily of quantal this week end. Is there a command line to generate a report using apport? Otherwise, I'll only be able to get you the Xorg log (as, without desktop... I'll only have command line access). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1030165 Title: Xorg can't use nvidia card with nouveau but doesn't fallback to vesa To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-nouveau/+bug/1030165/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 873495] Re: LightDM fails to start after nvidia-current or nvidia-current-updates are installed (upstart job issue)
I encountered the same bug with a previous 12.04 kernel version (probably 3.2.0-25) and could fix it with the workaround (adding sleep 1 service lightdm start in /etc/rc.local). However after updating to 3.2.0-30 this workaraound actually CAUSED a lot of problems during startup: Like 'Low graphics issue' 'Hang on Checking Battery State' 'Unable to shutdown with shutdown button+fallback to login screen' I running a brand new i7-3770K with the system on an SSD without further graphic cards. After deleting the rc.local entry everthings seems fine! [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1033783] Re: Wacom stylus and touch not recognised on Lenovo X220t
this is actually a known regression in the kernel, something in the input layer in the newer kernel changes the device ID (it should be 00e6, not 0094). See this thread: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_name=CAF8JNhL%3DguPxnyqxHbreN%3DtNxfzXw2o8HZKN%2BHGYn%3DVjV6PXuQ%40mail.gmail.comforum_name =linuxwacom-devel it's fixed in 3.6-rc1, but not simply by pulling the wacom changes, something else got changed as well. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xf86-input-wacom in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1033783 Title: Wacom stylus and touch not recognised on Lenovo X220t To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1033783/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1040495] [NEW] Graphical corruptions with Nouveau driver makes Quantal unusable
Public bug reported: Hello, since a few weeks I effectively can't run Quantal anymore due to strong graphical corruption when using the Nouveau driver (I have a Geforce GT430 card). To reproduce, I just have to boot a daily live image from a USB stick. The followings happens (as shown in the camera screenshots I'm gonna attach): - The boot logo (shown by Plymouth) is distorted - Then for some seconds a very weird looking corrupted screen appears - Then the desktop has loaded, but shows only corruptions instead of the wallpaper - The dock on the left screen side is shown correctly, but it's not possible to start/use any application - The mouse cursor isn't shown, due to shades of tooltips you can sometimes guess where the cursor might be This is a regression from Precise and early Quantal, where Nouveau drivers worked much better. To report this bug, I had to boot the daily live image with the nomodeset option. Even the new software-rendered Unity desktop you get in this case is barely usable due to heavy repainting issues, but that might be another bug. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1039938] Re: [xorg-edgers] glitches in kde panel during scrolling in e.g. firefox
I think I have the same problem even though I'm not using KDE but just Ubuntu 12.04, xorg-edgers PPA, and a Unity desktop. Since the 2:2.20.4+git20120820.027569bf-0ubuntu0sarvatt~precise build, my display has lots of distorted characters. For example, in a terminal window, my input is not even displayed or only parts of it. Then I scroll a bit, it suddenly appears. The behaviour is reproducable and is clearly fixed as soon as I downgrade to the 2:2.20.3+git20120816.94871944-0ubuntu0sarvatt~precise version. Please try to confirm: Download the 20120820 build and see if you have the problem, then try again with the 20120816 build and see if it is gone. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1040405] Re: xorg doesn't try to autoload the omap xorg driver at omapdrm enabled devices
This patch adds the support for the omap X11 driver autoload following the same solution we have for other a ARM boards (which we also used for our previous cycle). At the end there's a small change as well to make xorg to use the recently added platform probe functions, by trying to probe the driver in case there's only one platform device available and without a valid busID (case of Omap3 and Omap4 based devices). This will allow the platformProbe to be used by the omap X11 driver, fixing the behavior of loading more than one screen by default (one for omap and another for fbdev). To make the upstream code to work with the platform bus support by default, we'd still need some other changes to land, and a solution which we could find one single ID that could be used by all platform devices, so this workaround should be enough at least for Quantal. ** Patch added: xorg-server_2%3A1.12.99.905-0ubuntu1_2%3A1.12.99.905-0ubuntu2.debdiff https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1040405/+attachment/3273099/+files/xorg-server_2%253A1.12.99.905-0ubuntu1_2%253A1.12.99.905-0ubuntu2.debdiff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1040405 Title: xorg doesn't try to autoload the omap xorg driver at omapdrm enabled devices To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1040405/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Yes, Rocko - It's in the nvidia driver. See Daniel's message #6. Unless I misunderstand what he said: Nvidia built/released the 304.37 drivers to what they thought would be 1.13 compliant around the 13th, but there was a change in the ABI on the 17th, that broke their compatibility, before the finalization of 1.12.99.905 version on the 21st that is now in the repos. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1037896 Title: Starting Firefox kills xserver immediately when using 2D desktop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/1037896/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1037896] Re: Starting Firefox kills xserver immediately when using 2D desktop
As Daniel mentioned, the problem is in OpenGL. If you are willing to run without it, you can work around the problem for now by disabling the glx module in /etc/X11/xorg.conf by adding the following lines: Section Module Disable glx EndSection This issue was caused because the video driver ABI version was changed correctly, but nobody noticed that the extension module ABI needed to be bumped as well. That's why the problem only affects libglx and not the nvidia X driver. To solve this issue quickly, one can use these commands: git clone git://anongit.freedesktop.org/vaapi/intel-driver intel-driver cd intel-driver/ apt-cache show libva1|grep Version git checkout 1.0.15 (replace 1.0.15 with the version from above when it differs) git pull origin g45-h264 ./autogen.sh make sudo make install I haven't tested with playing videos yet, but this makes vainfo show three extra H264 profiles. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to libdrm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/595661 Title: please support h264 hardware acceleration on certain intel video cards To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libdrm/+bug/595661/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
