[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1045719] [NEW] Display port monitor detected, but no signal sent

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 985820] Re: [nvidia 295.40] Xorg freeze or compiz freeze
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 982485 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/982485 Hi! Well, I have a problem which seems similar: compiz freezes often at destop change (I use the cube rotation), and may be (most of the time) unfreezed by switching to the console (Ctrl+Alt+F1) then back (Ctrl+Alt+F7). However, this happen on a first DELL with a NVidia video card (and there was no problem with 11.10), but also on a recent one with an Intel card. Public bug reported: 1) lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu quantal (development branch) Release:12.10 2) apt-cache policy xorg xorg: Installed: 1:7.7+1ubuntu3 Candidate: 1:7.7+1ubuntu3 Version table: *** 1:7.7+1ubuntu3 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ quantal/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status apt-cache policy nvidia-current nvidia-current: Installed: (none) Candidate: 304.43-0ubuntu2 Version table: 304.43-0ubuntu2 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ quantal/restricted i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: Installed: 1:1.0.1-4~ubuntu1 Candidate: 1:1.0.1-4~ubuntu1 Version table: *** 1:1.0.1-4~ubuntu1 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ quantal/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 3) What is expected to happen is when one installs nvidia-current and restarts, the touchpad continues to work as it did with nouveau. 4) What happens instead is the primary button does not work. The same problem occurs using an external mouse. The cursor may still be moved around with the touchpad or the external mouse, and the secondary button works as well. With the nouveau drivers the touchpad stops working after a period of inactivity or of high graphic output (ex. usually flash content in Firefox). Hence, this mouse problem is correlated to an X driven problem. This problem in nouveau was also present in Precise. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1045845] [NEW] 12.10 guest crash on login when using 12.04 qemu-kvm with cirrus driver
Public bug reported: On a 12.10 amd64 host with the 12.04 LTS qemu-kvm package (due to bug #1040033) using the cirrus (ie, the default qemu-kvm driver) with an up to date 12.10 guest (machine='pc-1.0'), lightdm starts fine. I'm going to add a qemu-kvm task as well. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1045899] [NEW] Maximum number of clients reached
Public bug reported: After repeatedly using nitrogen to set my background picture, the X11 server ceases to accept new connections. xlib reports Maximum number of clients reached. nitrogen does not show up in ps or xlsclients. xlsclients reports only 18 clients. I filed it under xorg because even though nitrogen triggers the problem, it seems that the actual problem is a resource leak in the X11 server. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1046089] Re: back up
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Thanks! ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1046089 Title: back up To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1046089/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1045845] Re: 12.10 guest crash on login when using 12.04 qemu-kvm with cirrus driver
Please collect a full backtrace on this crash - see http://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Backtracing for guidance. ** Description changed: On a 12.10 amd64 host with the 12.04 LTS qemu-kvm package (due to bug #1040033) using the cirrus (ie, the default qemu-kvm driver) with an up to date 12.10 guest (machine='pc-1.0'), lightdm starts fine. If I proceed to login, X crashes. If I upgrade qemu-kvm to 1.1~rc+dfsg- 1ubuntu10, I am able to login fine. I don't know why the crash file wasn't uploaded. That said, this happens every time and is easy to reproduce. + + (EE) BUG: triggered 'if (inSignalContext)' + (EE) BUG: ../../os/log.c:472 in LogVMessageVerb() + (EE) Warning: attempting to log data in a signal unsafe manner while in signal context. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1033222] Re: NVidia driver in Quantal not compatible with X.org/kernel

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1033222] Re: NVidia driver in Quantal not compatible with X.org/kernel
I have to disagree - they work fine, have seen no recent complaints can use them here with no issue as are many others. (for reasons totally unrelated to nvidia-current performance.compatibility i choose to use nouveau The package list for nvidia-current has this for Depends Depends: x11-common (= 1:7.0.0), make, sed ( 3.0), dkms, linux-libc-dev, libc6-dev, linux-headers-generic | linux-headers, patch, acpid, libc6 (= 2.2.5), libgcc1 (= 1:4.1.1), libx11-6, libxext6, libxv1, libxvmc1, zlib1g (= 1:1.1.4), xorg-video-abi-11 | xorg-video-abi-12 | xorg-video-abi-13, xserver-xorg-core (= 2:1.10.99.901) The changelog - nvidia-graphics-drivers (304.43-0ubuntu1) quantal; urgency=low * debian/rules: - Add support for X ABI 13. clipped Fixed a bug that caused pre-release versions of X.Org xserver 1.13 to crash when certain GLX operations were performed, such as when starting Firefox. Affecting Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, occurs randomly after resuming from sleep. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1033242] Re: X server crashes
This started happening frequently enough that I broke out the xorg sources and figured out how to associate the crash address to a line number. (*) It's crashing at the line where it's dereferencing client-osPrivate, I'd guess there's a missing null check of client-osPrivate at the start of AttendClient, since many other functions in os/connection.c do a null check on that one but AttendClient doesn't. Of course it still might be a can't-happen situation for some implicit reason and something bigger is going wrong... (*) install dbg version of xorg core package, get source and start build far enough to apply patches, then use print function-name in gdb to get address of function, and apply the offset from xorg log like list *(0x1234+0x32) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1033242 Title: X server crashes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1033242/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
