[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1068601] Re: 12.10: Black screen with GeForce FX 5200 card
Hi Christopher I also have a tablet (for testing) that I dabble with using Ubuntu (usually betas then stable releases). This is also showing a similar problem but this time, the screen is not black but shows only the wallpaper after logon. I have tried the latest 3.7 rc2 kernel and the screen goes really weird (hard to explain but I'll try and get a screenshot). I have also tried a kernel similar to 12.04's (3.2.0-23) but this makes no difference either. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1076288] [NEW] Radeon driver starts freezing and dies
Public bug reported: Problem began playing a dvd with xbmc on dual screen setup. Everything was fine, until I moved the mouse trying to get to the playback controls. Then picture froze and after every few seconds the screens blinked off and back again, with some temporary graphical glitches. This persisted until I kill -9:ed xbmc, after which things seemed to normalize. Trying to open a new window caused the same blink again, but very slowly the terminal appeared. When the glitches didn't go away, I tried restarting lightdm, but it only managed to stop, not start again. However the console was still working. After a while, start lightdm did work again. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1076288 Title: Radeon driver starts freezing and dies To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/1076288/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Regarding them https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1068601/comments/44 : I tried adding the sources for 12.04 (and 12.10) but I'm getting 404 not found errors on both. As 12.04 is an LTS release,... Instead of changing sources in an installed Precise, what you would want to do instead is use a live environment, then follow the directions on installing the xorg PPA in a live environment mentioned in https://launchpad.net/~xorg- edgers/+archive/ppa?field.series_filter=precise . Regarding https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1068601/comments/45 and https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1068601/comments/46 : I also have a tablet... ...an old HP TC1100, should I open a new post for this? If you have a bug in Ubuntu with the tablet, could you please file a new report by executing the following in a terminal: ubuntu-bug linux For more on this, please see the Ubuntu Kernel team article: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/KernelTeamBugPolicies#Filing_Kernel_Bug_reports the Ubuntu Bug Control and Ubuntu Bug Squad article: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/BestPractices#X.2BAC8-Reporting.Focus_on_One_Issue and Ubuntu Community article: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette When opening up the new report, please feel free to subscribe me to it. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1059655] Re: 1002:94a3 fglrx doesn't work with ATI FirePro M7740 chip
** Description changed: The fgrlx package now installs successfully for me. However, I believe it's not recognizing my chip, the ATI FirePro M7740. This is the chip that Dell uses in the Precision M6500 laptop from about 3 years ago. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1071530] Re: X Error of failed request: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)
@ciaopaste: I'm not a developer. I'm just making some packages out of some freely available source-code. But i'll try my best to narrow down the cause of the bug and try to help the developers to fix it. @G. Christ: Okay, this means the DRI-driver is still used but there seems to be some problems with the memory allocation (As far as i know). It must be a Mesa-bug because when using version 8.0.4, the newest graphics-driver and a newer kernel-version as 3.2.0 OpenGL still works. Only when using Mesa 9.0 the bug occurs. Also the bug occurs in other distributions which use Mesa 9.0 e.g. RedHat, Arch and so on. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1035499] Re: put xorglog.py into Precise
** Description changed: - I've been working on a script for Hardware Certification and OEM QA - usage (and hopefully more) that reports on some graphics driver info. + [Impact] + Xorg.0.log has a ton of useful information for QA purposes, yet the file is not well structured for programmatic examination, as is necessary when running automated QA tests. During the raring cycle a number of efforts seek to establish automated testing of X.org, so having this code more widely available will help facilitate the scripts. + + [Test Case] + $ python + from xdiagnose.xorglog import XorgLog + xorglog = XorgLog('/var/log/Xorg.0.log') + print xorglog.video_driver + RADEON + print xorglog.xserver_version + 2:1.11.4-0ubuntu10.6 + print xorglog.errors + ['Failed to load module fglrx (module does not exist, 0)', 'Failed to load module fglrx (module does not exist, 0)'] + + Expected Results: As above + Actual Results: The import will fail with module not found + + [Regression Potential] + None, this merely adds a python module that nothing in the distro requires. Future tests and tools will be introduced to depend on this module. + + [Original Report] + I've been working on a script for Hardware Certification and OEM QA usage (and hopefully more) that reports on some graphics driver info. For now, it reports the running graphics driver and version, and does a check for hybrid graphics and lists DDX drivers listed in Xorg.0.log. For the moment, I have had to copy the XorgLog class from xorglog.py into my script directly because our code needs to be supported on Precise, but xorglog.py only exists currently in Trunk. So I'm asking for an SRU to get xorglog.py into the xdiagnose for Precise to support this testing, and potentially future tests that could rely on code in xdiagnose for the Hardware Certification and OEM QA Teams. Getting this into Precise will help a LOT as I'll be able to remove my hacked copy from my test scripts and use a simple Import. This will make my code infinitely more maintainable and I'll not have to maintain a copy of the XorgLog class that is out of sync with the copy that Bryce is developing/maintaining. This will also allow me to write one script that works on everything from Precise onward. Precise is requested because these tests will be part of the Cert suites as well as OEM QA test suites, and most of that work will be based on Precise for some time to come. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xdiagnose in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1035499 Title: put xorglog.py into Precise To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xdiagnose/+bug/1035499/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 621432]
Pad Resolution is currently readonly on purpose - your pad is unlikely to change resolutions at runtime. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 621432]
I have the same problem. I use one screen above the other and my vertical mouse pointer speed is about double of the horizontal speed. It's unusable this way. Now this might be a different bug or not a bug at all, but I noticed that the VertResolution and HorizResolution options are missing, even though they are specified in man synaptics: --- Option VertResolution integer Resolution of X coordinates in units/millimeter. The value is used together with HorizResolution to compensate unequal vertical and horizontal sensi‐ tivity. Setting VertResolution and HorizResolution equal values means no compensation. Default value is read from the touchpad or set to 1 if value could not be read. Property: Synaptics Pad Reso‐ lution Option HorizResolution integer Resolution of Y coordinates in units/millimeter. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1073724] Re: Pointer barriers have gaps along the edge of the screen
here are excerpts from my IRC conversation with Jasper re this bug. Jasper darkxst, it's entirely possible that it will break it on monitor edges darkxst the barrier_find_nearest() function definately breaks on the monitor edges when using the unclamped values Jasper darkxst, I'm quite sure it will break BarrierNotify behavior, to be honest Jasper I know exactly what the issue is: since we're using the unclamped positions, they're not clamped to the screen edges darkxst if I hit the top edge I the screen it almost always slides past Jasper darkxst, we have three pieces of information: where the mouse came from, where the mouse is going to unclamped to the screen edges, where the mouse is going to clamped to the screen edges Jasper darkxst, between those three it should be possible to figure something out, but I can't figure anything out Jasper darkxst, the issue that RAOF was talking about was what happens when clamped and where the mouse is coming from end up to be the same thing -- that is, when we're bumping against a barrier on the screen edge Jasper so we switched to unclamped to allow for screen edges there Jasper now what's happening is that the unclamped mouse position is outside the bounds of the monitor, which the barrier doesn't reach to, so it doesn't consider it blocked Jasper darkxst, feel free to copy/paste this conversation onto the LP bug -- whatever solution RAOF comes up with is really interesting to me, because I'm turning his patches into a core X feature for 3.8. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1073724 Title: Pointer barriers have gaps along the edge of the screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1073724/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
