[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1082621] [NEW] Desktop icons dissapear after executing xrandr
Public bug reported: To shut off my laptop screen and adjust resolution on my external screen I execute xrandr --output VGA1 --off xrandr --output LVDS1 --off xrandr --output VGA1 --auto and recently (2-3 weeks) this has made all desktop icons to dissapear from screen. At one time I thought I had a workaround by ln -s ~/Skrivbord ~/Desktop which is my localized name of Desktop, but it only worked the first time. I find no logs with hints, currently I only know of one way of getting the icons back which is reboot. Adjusting resolution or turning on laptopmonitor has no effect. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 861268] Re: text corruption in terminals (xterm, urxvt) and emacs
The attached screen shot shows two views of the same window. The one in the foreground shows the problems. How to duplicate the problem. 1. Click on XTERM on the menu bar to open a new xterm window 2. Hold down the Enter key for 20 lines or so. That's what you see: the prompt disappears and the vertical white 'line' appears 3. Click out of the window to another window and the window is redrawn correctly (i.e., the prompts re-appear). The problem (i.e., display corruption) occurs at various other times as well and comes close to rendering the program unusable. Note: to capture the screen shot of the problem I used the Take Screenshot program and set the Grab after a delay setting to 10 seconds, clicked in the window, then held the Enter key down for a few seconds. ** Attachment added: Example of the problem. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1079906] Re: 046d:c044 Logitech mouse does not work correctly
@Christopher M. Penalver (penalvch) during the first two weeks of Septemeber of this year things finally went from bad to worse. Up until the start of September 2012 I had noticed and steady regression of the wired mouse's ability to operate as it should do. Over a number of years; 3 infact. Ever hopeful that someone somewhere was having issues and work was being done somewhere to some good. Believing that Logitech mice were popular enough to be taken particular not of. The it got to the point of putting it away to only use in Emergencies(eg trackpad death on laptops) or to drop into Mac OSX on this Mac mini. Before this time it had been bearable but not without issue. The wireless mouse I use just became useless in a Ubuntu environs as of the second or third week on September 2012; which was around the time I found the now expired report of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1043413 . Up until that time it had worked without issue. Not issues or problems at all. Not withstanding that I never took it to it's multi-function capabilities(eg different buttons for different uses in media players etc) but it functioned totally as it should have done in programs such as GIMP, Firefox, VLC etc..but now it will not play at all. Nothing works correctly. It points but doesn't fire or rather fires randomly off so randomly as to be like not worth of use. Back to the wired mouse being used now. This message for example required 20 plus extra clicks to be able to read type whilst the page scrolled randomly up and down. Then when I finally started typing out these last two sentences the lines of text stopped jumping up and down. The above is quite typical ...and it is also quite typical that within 5 seconds of completing those sentences the problem began again :/ And now it's stopped. :) Sometimes it never stops. Requiring a hard reset. Which sometimes puts a stop to it. Sometimes not. But mostly as the session continues, it continues to worsen in ever increasing and decreasing degrees. :( -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1079906 Title: 046d:c044 Logitech mouse does not work correctly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1079906/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
