[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1083474] [NEW] Menus and text boxes get super glitchy
Public bug reported: Even while I am typing this the screen is getting so glitchy and only in text related boxes, menus, scroll bars. Its very difficult to read what I am typing. Its been happening quite often and I can only fix it by restarting the computer, but its only a matter of time before it happens again. Don't know what else to do, its been a thorn in my side for quite some time now and I need a fix. I attached a picture of the glitch in progress. I don't quite know how to repeat the bug yet, but I am willing to help anyway I can. This is my `lspci` if it helps. http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/1391104/ Thank You! [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1074779] Re: llvmpipe used after clean install instead of intel
Hi I am having the same issue in Mint 14 but when I create the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file as suggested above, the memory issue is resolved but it looks like Mint is selecting a different desktop environment (the Legacy Gnome3 I think, but I am new to Mint so am not sure?). When I log out and Select Cinammon 2D the correct desktop appears but the CPU issue has returned. Any other desktop I select at the Logon Screen results in the same appearance but uses the correct INTEL Drivers. (The menu structure looks completely different and has a small icon saying 'LM' at the bottom left rather than 'MENU') Is there any other suggested fix or should Cinnamon work ok if I remove LM14 and Install LM13 ? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1074779 Title: llvmpipe used after clean install instead of intel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linuxmint/+bug/1074779/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1083790] [NEW] Connecting external monitor shows incorrect resolution on external screen and correct resolution on laptop screen
Public bug reported: I have a Lenovo T520 and a Samsung LED monitor running in dual-monitor mode (not mirrored). I also use an IOGEAR 2 Port USB Cable KVM Switch with Audio and Mic (GCS72U) to share the screen with another machine, although it is almost always just selecting the Lenovo laptop with the screen. When I am using the laptop without the external monitor everything looks great, but then when I plug the external monitor in the resolution on the monitor is incorrect and is low resolution as well as the top panel being cut off a little (see the attached screenshot). The resolution on the laptop screen is correct and the dual monitor setting is correct (external screen on the left, laptop screen on the right). If I then load the displays applet in the Settings, the external monitor switches to the correct resolution without me clicking on anything in the displays applet (just loading it fixes the resolution). I also noticed today that if I plug in the external monitor (and thus see the incorrect resolution) and leave it without going to the displays applet, if I leave it for around 3 - 5 mins it will automatically switch to the correct resolution without me doing anything. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1068341] Re: No way to specify correct dependencies for dkms packages (nvidia driver install fails to get matching header)
Would you rather own a car that reliably gets you through hills and curves with no problems or possess one with an outstanding list of features including the high probability that a wheel will fall off if the user (you or a loved one) fails to drive the car exactly the way the designers envisioned. Perhaps having to power cycle the 64-bit workstation installation after it hangs in an Nvidia environment is not serious to a power user. Grandma might not be very impressed. Usability testing should have caught the Nvidia and AMD header problems early in development. Regression testing should have caught them prior to release. If you don't have a method to verify that your changes work and have not broken anything important, those changes should not be made! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-updates in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1068341 Title: No way to specify correct dependencies for dkms packages (nvidia driver install fails to get matching header) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dkms/+bug/1068341/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1082234] Re: i915 display corruption on Acer Aspire S5
Definitely not a duplicate. The problem with graphics on the Acer Aspire S5 is complete corruption. The entire display is blurry static/garbage (unusable) until you sleep then wake it back up. Having said that, I tried the latest 3.7 kernel (the .deb packages) and the problem is fixed. I can't use that kernel permanently though since the wifi won't work with it. So I'm anxiously awaiting a 3.7 kernel to show up in the backports repo. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1082234 Title: i915 display corruption on Acer Aspire S5 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1082234/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1074779] Re: llvmpipe used after clean install instead of intel
I have now updated to MDM 1.0.8 but the issue is still there. Now when I logon each time the normal Cinnamon desktop still doesn't appear. I think I may be seeing the compatibility mode desktop because . I then tried installing LM13 and when I booted from the DVD there was just a Blue Screen. The menu would appear but when I selected a menu item a blue window appeared with a thick fuzzy white border. I was unable to see any contents within the windows so couldn't even start the Installation of LM. I tried rebooting from the DVD but this time selected 'Compatibility' Mode. When it booted the desktop loaded but it was the same desktop I am seeing when I boot into LM14 !! This would look to me like an issue with the Display Driver. IS there anything further I could try to resolve this? I would really love to be able to use LM rather than going back to Windows or another Linux Distro. I did use Ubuntu about a year ago on the same PC without any issues.
