[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1041063] Re: mouse pointer periodically leaps to left and top of screen with absolute pointing devices
a7x, the patch was uploaded for precise prior to comment #25, because it had been nominated for precise. Keep in mind that precise includes a backport of the input stack, so it's not surprising to find input bugs introduced after 1.11 affecting precise, however that stack is 1.12 so a 1.13-specific bug should not affect it. In any case, aside from the nomination there doesn't appear to be anyone making a claim that the bug is reproducible on precise. I'll go ahead and reject your patch for 12.04. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1041063 Title: mouse pointer periodically leaps to left and top of screen with absolute pointing devices To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/1041063/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1072531] Re: [regression] X11 screen blanking after 10 minutes with no UI to change it
I believe this is actually a duplicate of bug 1046118 but I thought that required at least gdm to be running. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1072531]
Thanks Alan. To my knowledge, Ubuntu actually has _never_ had a UI to control this--screen blanking has always been disabled before. The UI only allows the user to configure the time period for powering off the display. Now it seems that screen blanking is mysteriously enabled on some machines in 12.10. Other than with xorg.conf or xset, how might the distro be disabling this? I wasn't able to find any override anywhere. I am guessing that the override is not working in some corner case. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1072531 Title: [regression] X11 screen blanking after 10 minutes with no UI to change it To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xorg-server/+bug/1072531/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 914631] Re: [mir] mesa-demos
Seems fine to me, especially since it used to be in main. As for the naming of the package, it's following Debian, so that's fine. Maintainership doesn't seem *super* great (not often updated in Debian or Ubuntu), but I guess there's not a lot of activity here anyway. Several crasher bugs, but they seem mostly driver related than anything. It would be nice if we could sync up with Debian, but it's not too important. Only changes are some package metadata stuff. We do have a rather large delta with Debian in the form of the -extras package. But if this is going into main, it's a delta we'd gladly suffer (rather than moving everything into the one package). Archive Admins: please only promote mesa-utils, *not* mesa-utils-extra. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1092229] [NEW] Desktop brightness minimal after upgrade 12.04 -> 12.10 on Acer Aspire One D270
Public bug reported: Hello, On Acer Aspire One D270 netbook (please see full hardware configuration here http://h-node.org/notebooks/view/en/536/Aspire-One-D270-- ZE7-/1/1/undef/undef/undef/undef/undef/undef/undef/D270), desktop brightness is reduced to minimum after upgrading from 12.04 to 12.10. Netbook's video card is this: http://h-node.org/videocards/view/en/538 /Intel-Corporation-Cedarview-Integrated-Graphics-Controller--rev-09- The function keys for brightness (Fn + horizontal arrows) APPARENTLY work: they DO present a brightness slider when pressed, but brightness is not decreased/increased when sliding left-right. The upgrade was done in an automatic way (via GUI update manager, who offers a new version of Ubuntu). After some Google searches, the fix presented here, comment no. 9 (adding some parameters to the kernel line while booting) applied, solving the problem: http://askubuntu.com/questions/3841/desktop-doesnt- remember-brightness-settings-after-a-reboot This seems to be an old bug, still unsolved. However, the correct video configuration should be automagically detected at boot, WITHOUT manual user intervention and hacking (this may be a serious stop for non-technical users buying an Ubuntu netbook from consumer stores, especially since Acer is pretty popular). But no matter how many times we solve the "synaptics device not found" bug for synaptics devices, new, old, or just plain odd devices are gonna get left out in the cold. So I recommend that syndaemon be made capable of working with unclassified "mice" that show up as "ImPS/2 Generic Wheel Mouse," by spitting out a warning that it's going to use a device that doesn't look like a synaptics device, give the name, and then give the user a Y/N option whether to continue. This would make syndaemon a lot more useful to people who are still waiting for bugfixes on their touchpads, or even people with regular mice in some scenarios (I'm thinking, really persistantly bothersome cats). It would certainly make my life a lot more livable, since I have a very sensitive and obnoxiously placed touchpad that ends up registering clicks all the time when I'm trying to type. lp bug #723786 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/723786 Reply at: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input- synaptics/+bug/723786/comments/1 ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics Status: Unknown => Confirmed ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics Importance: Unknown => Medium -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/723786 Title: Syndaemon behavior when no synaptics device is found To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/723786/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
