[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 461211] Re: Tiny screen with xrandr monitor switch
We're closing this bug since there has not been a response from the original reporter. However, the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. If you're not the original reporter, we'd prefer you file a new bug report. Some tips: * Report X.org bugs via the command: `ubuntu-bug xorg` * Test against the latest development Ubuntu. http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/ Bugs marked as affecting the development version tend to get priority attention. * The `xdiagnose` utility has functionality for enabling debugging and analyzing a few common X problems. * Tag your bugs with the Ubuntu versions you have reproduced the issue in. * See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Reporting for tips on writing good bug reports. ** Changed in: fglrx-installer (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Expired -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/461211 Title: Tiny screen with xrandr monitor switch To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-control-center/+bug/461211/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.
I am running 12.04 kernel 3.2.0-35-generic-pae (32 bit) on a Dell E521 AMD dual core machine. I have experienced hard locks (IE a power off job) and partial locks (still responds to raw keyboard mode commands Ctrl+Alt+Sys Req+r etc). The last hard lock was a few days ago. But this is always triggered by compiz. Often compiz will crash and offer to send a report and restart, but the locks are always triggered by this action:- Click on Dash button, type in search characters, and then: *click on a result*. Its always that final click (to start or spawn somthing) that causes the lock in my case. This is an upgrade from 10.04 and I have an nvidia Geforce 210 card with the version-current updates driver. This is my work PC, and its sad to say I have never had such an unstable box. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993187 Title: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 505494] Re: Mouse events fail frequently and unpredictably, requiring kwin restart
Same here, all the clicks go to the previously focused window until right clicked (in a way that it will be registered in the previous window, clicking outside doesn't help), then the clicks are registered in the new window only. Closing previous window helps. e.g.: chrome with gmail opened in a tab, going to another desktop/alt-tabbing to another window, clicking inside the shown window registers clicks in gmail, right-clicking where emails list suppose to be registers in gmail and doesn't release the lock clicking somewhere in the body or where chrome tabs/menus suppose to be pops-up a context menu and releases the lock, closing/killing chrome helps too. All the clicks after that register in the new window only... Another scenario: when in not-maximized window, alt-tabbing/going to another desktop, clicking - all the clicks register in the previous window, right-clicking outside that window won't do anything, clicking inside releases the lock... I'm pretty much sure that the reason right-click helps is that it creates the context menu, which is a window itself. So when a new window created it gets the focus and mouse clicks go there, clicking anywhere else closes the menu and window is destroyed, releasing that way the lock. So any next window you click has the focus now... For example, instead of using the following to scale a 1024x600 netbook screen: xrandr --output LVDS1 --scale 1.25x1.25 you need to use: xrandr --output LVDS1 --panning 1280x750 --scale 1.25x1.25 ** Also affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu Precise) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu Quantal) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu Raring) Importance: Low Status: Triaged ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu Quantal) Status: New = Fix Released ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu Raring) Status: Triaged = Fix Released ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu Precise) Status: New = Triaged ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu Precise) Importance: Undecided = Low -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/883319 Title: xrandr --scale restricts area in which mouse moves To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xorg-server/+bug/883319/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 214786] Re: Apple USB ISO keyboard has incorrectly swapped keys
Before I speculate on more details about this problem, let me add that pdecat's persistent fix works fine but requires an additional `update- initramfs -u -k all` for the option to be set correctly. I own two Apple aluminium keyboards of different generations (German layout) , one MacBook Air and one old Early-2008 white MacBook. While the laptops seem to work fine for quite some time now, both alu keyboards experienced this issue in different Ubuntu releases; at least one of them always suffers from it up until today. (Count this as confirmed for Quantal.) In the past, I used the xmodmap fix from above, but that didn't work out now because of Bug #1016996. Since I didn't know about pdecat's fix at first, I dived a bit into the shady areas of XKB configuration and found out that XKB offers options called apple:badmap and 'apple:goodmap' targeting the exact same problem. Those are listed in /usr/share/X11/xkb/rules/base and `[…]/evdev`, but not in the respective `.lst` and `.xml` files and therefore don't show up in the GNOME keyboard options dialog. When it comes to persisent configuration, I didn't succeed in settings the options via `xorg.conf` as described by [1] and [2]. Running `setxkbmap […]` at session start through `gnome-session-properties` works in principal, but seems to conflict with settings from the GNOME keyboard options. (Only one of them will be set due to what seems to be some kind of race-condition.) What worked for me was running the command via `.profile`, but just then I came across pdecat's much simpler and system-wide approach :-). As there seem to be different generations of Apple keyboards with different behaviours out there, I believe that there won't be a general fix for this problem. What should however be done in my opinion, is offering a simple way to get the right configuration. I think the GNOME keyboard options are the right place to do that, and therefore the apple:badmap option should be added to the `.lst` and `.xml` files like described above. That's why I'm adding xkeyboard-config to the affected packages. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1092623] [NEW] touchpad multipoint touching opens Unity Dash
Public bug reported: On a Dell 15z with a Cypress touchpad real work is almost impossible because the inevitable palm touch on the pad opens the Unity Dash. synclient reveals that the palm touch is registered as a 3-point touch, which is consistent with the observation that a clean 3 finger touch does in fact open the dash. Given that it is virtually impossible to avoid brushing the top corners of the touchpad, having the Dash shoved in your face over and over again is a real problem. Using the syndaemon without the -t option to disable mouse movement during typing also kills the multi-touch behaviour, but this is not a real fix because the latency in mouse movements it introduces is about as bad as the problem is partially solves. Only partially because if you pause to think during typing you are likely punished with a Dash in your face as you go to resume typing. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1092623 Title: touchpad multipoint touching opens Unity Dash To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/1092623/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1072531] Re: [regression] X11 screen blanking after 10 minutes with no UI to change it
I am using only lightdm and Unity. My lightdm.conf is attached above. Also, in my case the screen does _not_ power down after 10 minutes, it just displays black. i.e., the HDMI display connected to it shows that it is still receiving a signal. By comparison, the Turn off screen when inactive setting truly turns off the display and the display reports no signal. But possibly the reporter of bug 1046118 used the term power down loosely. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1072531 Title: [regression] X11 screen blanking after 10 minutes with no UI to change it To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xorg-server/+bug/1072531/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
