[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 882710] Re: [NVIDIA] Monitor(s) black out and session freezes. "NVRM: GPU at 0000:01:00.0 has fallen off the bus."
No overheating on my part. I have tested the 560 ti with the HDMI cable, with a DVI cable and with a DVI-VGA. All cases have same problem. I have even tried using different versions, starting from the originals that come with 12.10 to the ones in X-Swat, to the ones in Xorg Edgers. Basically from 304.xx to 313.xx. In all cases I used 64 bit. I even tested 13.04. My hardware specs are: Intel Core i7 2600 16 GB RAM Intel DZ68DB Motherboard Intel 128GB SSD Nvidia 560 TI This was working fine until 2 weeks ago. Then this precise problem appeared out of nowhere. I tested all drivers version in 12.10 and 13.04 that came with it or were in Swat or Edgers PPA. The only one that is working is nouveau but that is just throwing the towel since the solution should be to actually use the video performance. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/882710 Title: [NVIDIA] Monitor(s) black out and session freezes. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1015297] Re: Screen partially darkened after suspend and resume in Xubuntu
Just added Xscreensaver to the list of "possible candidates" as per comment #22. Seems interesting because XFCE does indeed use Xscreensaver and possibly the bugs on the duplicates list for older Ubuntu versions prior to 12.04 are due to Xscreensaver being used by default on Ubuntu systems then. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 41301] Re: Mouse clicks stop working sporadically
This is still happening for me, even now in 12.04.1. I've tried EVERY workaround suggest above (and some more fooling with xorg.conf.d stuff) to no avail. Restarting x-server is the only thing that works even temporarily (lasts an indefinite amount of time, then bug resurfaces). Is there really no advance on this OLD and VERY ANNOYING bug? It's a pretty serious issue. If it helps, this bug is DEFINATELY something to do with the touchpad drivers (I imagine synaptic, as I've got that installed). If touch pad is disabled and an external mouse is used, then after x restart, the external mouse functions fine. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1068404] Re: Low graphics mode in Hybrid ATI/Intel GPU systems after fglrx upgrade
This affects me on an HP Envy 14 (intel + AMD 5650). After installing fglrx I wasn't able to access my desktop. I purged fglrx and tried Andrikos' PPA, which didn't help. After purging everything, I was able to get LightDM up only after switching to the AMD card via vgaswitcheroo. But then logging into my account dumped me back to lightdm again. The only thing that worked was launching a Guest desktop instance. No amount of purging and downgrading could salvage my system, I had to re-install 12.10. I never installed fglrx on 12.04 so I can't say whether this is a downgrade. But the opensource radeon drivers on 12.10 seems like a downgrade because HDMI switching doesn't work for me. I'll make another partition to do more testing, so if anyone wants to see any console output/logs, let me know. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1068404 Title: Low graphics mode in Hybrid ATI/Intel GPU systems after fglrx upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1068404/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1095686] [NEW] xorg needs to be updated to allow quantal xserver stack to be installed
Public bug reported: Right now installing xserver-xorg-lts-quantal will uninstall xorg, and as a side effect ubuntu-desktop. A small update to xorg is required to deal with this. Multiple changes are required: - xorg needs to allow xserver-xorg-renamed to satisfy its xserver-xorg dependency. - xserver-xorg must not be coinstallable with renamed packages, so explicitly depend on versions there. - xserver-xorg-lts-precise gets added for smoother rollback, it recommends libgl1-mesa-dri/glx unrenamed, and video/input-all unrenamed. Normally because of the xserver-xorg might not install either, but the recommends should allow easier rollback. - xserver-xorg also provides/replaces/conflicts with xserver-xorg-renamed, so xserver-xorg-lts-* cannot be coinstalled accidentally with xserver-xorg. - xserver-xorg replaces/conflicts with xorg-renamed-package, so installing xserver-xorg will block any renamed package from being installed. They all provide xorg-renamed-package. ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Critical Status: Invalid ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu Precise) Importance: Critical Assignee: Maarten Lankhorst (mlankhorst) Status: Fix Committed ** Package changed: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau (Ubuntu) => xorg (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Critical ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New => In Progress ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Milestone: None => ubuntu-12.04.2 ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Maarten Lankhorst (mlankhorst) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1095686 Title: xorg needs to be updated to allow quantal xserver stack to be installed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1095686/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1085166] Re: Screen stays black after grub. Suspend activates it.
Please note mainline kernels do not contain ubuntu-specific patches and might thus not provide a true testing ground as it introduces an aditional variable. Hi, I have the same problem now. That is no settings in "xfce4-appearance-settings" have any effect. I also have the Nvidia restricted driver, and maybe the problem started after I had made some changes in nvidia-settings. I had before that made changes to the appearences settings, and after a new boot my dual screens were overlapping then I had to correct it in nvidia-settings. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1072403] Re: Unity and GnomeShell hang or crash with nouveau kernel error messages "fail ttm_validate", "validate vram_list" and "validate: -12"
I'm seeing the same messages since I upgraded to quantal yesterday (upgraded from precise). However there are a few differences in my setup compared to Perseid (the initiator of this bug). So, I'm hesitating to mark it as a "me2". Major differences are: * my own kernel based on 3.7.1 (which I had before with precise) * Chipset: G73 (NV4B), Family : NV40 If you would force me to draw a conclusion, I'd say it is the xserver- xorg-video-nouveau driver that triggers the bug. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.
"try the current mainline kernel" No. Didn't help. My situation is exactly the one described in #625. I'm on Linuxmint 14 KDE, with the mainline Kernel 3.8.0-999. I've had two freezes in the last two days, the last one two minutes ago. I've tried everything that's ever been suggested. Nothing helps. It's been going on for months... (I've been on Linux for the last 12 years or so, but this bug actually has me thinking abour switching to something else. But to what? Windows is an ocean of pain. OSX is ridiculous. Should I just give up on computing? Bug 921321 is a specific bug against the Nouveau driver, and there is no evidence of it being XFCE specific.
