[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 777493] Re: nvidia drivers activated but not in use on natty 11.04
in 12.04 and 12.10 (ubuntu-studio) i started with nouveau driver and then used jockey to enbale the nvidia driver. but after a couple of reboot and removal of the nouveau still the nvidia-sertings is telling me that x-org is not using this driver please enable it. also jockey tells me that the drier is enabled but not active. mine is GT 9 series one and is there any workaround to enable this. i very badly needs the hdmi/dvi outputs of the card for multi-screen production works. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/777493 Title: nvidia drivers activated but not in use on natty 11.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-173/+bug/777493/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1103236] Re: Choppy and pixelated video on Macbook Air 5, 1. Unable to run/view HD videos at all
I just meant I have no control over flash playback as it is a propietary 3rd party application - we have to wait for them to improve it. The mplayer output says that is capable of decoding roughly 10 such streams in real time (i.e. it ran at 250fps). So the bottleneck in the pipeline is not the decode or presentation. Let's continue to focus on mplayer so I can find exactly where the bottleneck is. Sticking with mplayer -vo xv (which is the default if you specify no -vo) can you please decribe if that renders smoothly, then hit 'f' to make it fullscreen (or you can pass -fs on the mplayer commandline). Does it begin to stutter then? Also, since you describe severe video distortion, can you grab a screenshot or photograph? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1103236 Title: Choppy and pixelated video on Macbook Air 5,1.
I don't think it has to do with Flash since the same video runs fine in the other operating system but not in Ubuntu. Also, the same problem occurs for html5 videos which I think, correct me if I'm wrong, is open source on youtube. Sticking with mplayer -vo xv (which is the default if you specify no -vo) can you please decribe if that renders smoothly, then hit 'f' to make it fullscreen (or you can pass -fs on the mplayer commandline). Does it begin to stutter then? It stutters in both fullscreen and in a windowed view. Also, since you describe severe video distortion, can you grab a screenshot or photograph? The screenshot doesn't seem to capture the pixelation and skips, but you can see the blurriness. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 879838] Re: Keyboard Layout Germany Neo 2: Mod4 does not work if used as secondary keyboard layout
This bug annoys me, too, and I've seen it in Oneiric (11.10) and Precise (12.04). I guess it is present in Quantal and Raring, too. I have configured “German Neo 2” and “German eliminate dead keys” layouts, and whatever I choose as the secondary layout does not work correctly. Only the primary layout works as expected. If Neo is the secondary layout, both Mod4 keys are completely ignored, so instead of layer 4 and 6 I get layer 1 and 3, respectively. (See http ://neo-layout.org/ for details.) If “Qwertz” is the secondary layout, I can't type “”, “” and “|”, because the left one of the two Neo-Mod4-keys is dead. This makes working on the command line rather impossible. My workaround is to select Neo as the primary layout, and if someone else (unfamiliar with Neo) needs to type on my keyboard, I have to change the primary layout. ** Tags added: quantal raring ** Tags added: running-unity -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xkeyboard-config in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/879838 Title: Keyboard Layout Germany Neo 2: Mod4 does not work if used as secondary keyboard layout To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xkeyboard-config/+bug/879838/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

I cannot decouple if the rendering issues have worsened with the newer driver (probably not) or if the newer kde framework and kwin is exposing bugs in a more aggressive way, but things have become a bit problematic with this newer setup. 1) Border of the toolbar disappears 2) Shades/light effects of kwin do not render properly and remain in place (often with distortion) after use 3) Some characters appear underlined in the konsole Moving back to uxa seems to fix all these issues, as well as the libreoffice rendering. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1098334 Title: Font corruption in Chromium tab bar using Intel SNA To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1098334/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1098334]
Hi Chris, thanks for clarification. I compiled the driver with --with-default-accel=sna and set both, the rotated and non-rotated screens, to AccelMethod blt. Now, the rotated screen is _all black_ but the cursor. So I, somehow, managed to start acroread but do not see anything but the cursor. The other screen works fine, though.

Ah, sorry I mislead. I forgot everybody doesn't use SNA as their default accelmethod. I can't test it, obviously. The rotated zaphod screen, at which the artefacts appear in my case, is only available with sna enabled. On a side note: I tried it nevertheless as I forgot about that. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 879838] Re: Keyboard Layout Germany Neo 2: Mod4 does not work if used as secondary keyboard layout
I read in several places (like here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=176113) that there is a feature that should preserve shortcut positions when changeing the keyboard layout. It seems that pressing certain keys switches the selected layout back to the primary one. I had no time to check if this is the reason. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 985539] Re: Awkward graphic glitches (texture corruption) in Unity/Nux when opening lot of applications (intel video card)
The source of this error was a driver leak in the UXA glyph code (at least according to my notes). iirc, somewhen around 2.20.4 had the fix. The DDX will compile against your version of Xorg, and I would strongly recommend you take all the bug fixes in there rather than cherry- picking.
