[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1155892] [NEW] Overscan settings in catalyst not used after starting Ubuntu
Public bug reported: Hi I am testing the daily builds of 13.04 raring ringtail on a AMD desktop with a Radeon 5750 graphics card and a dual monitor setup (normal monitor and a HD-tv, both 1080p) When using the binary drivers, fglrx or fglrx-updates I can set overscan values in the catalyst control center and everything looks fine, but when I reboot the system does not actualluy use the choosen overscan values and the desktop does not fill the entire screen any longer. The values choosen in the control center are still shown correctly in the control center, but just not used when starting the desktop. This problem does not exist in the open source drivers (but in turn they ahve HDMI sound issues, but that is another bug :)). This problem also also appeared in the 12.10 beta. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1083032] Re: Video driver not working for Savage chipset
Hey Tormod, I'm setting up an old Acer Aspire 1300 with the S3 Savage chip in it. I added your PPA to my sources.list to test and installed your version of the Xorg server + drivers. I rebooted single user, ran Xorg -configure and I edited xorg.conf to only contain an entry for the savage driver so as to avoid accidental it works! while you're unconsciously running vesa or something else. I specified only Option AccelMethod EXA and not DisableTile. I can confirm the graphics work. Without an Xorg.conf, graphics won't work and are gibberish. I'm not familiar with these cards experience wise, but it seems slow, draging windows is jerky and scrolling too. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1155972] [NEW] Suspend-Resume gives me colored but useless screen
Public bug reported: I used to use suspend (to RAM) a lot on my netbook but since upgrading to 12.10 it's broken. Suspending seems to work fine, but when I try to resume the machine, I get a colored screen and a big square instead of my mouse pointer. I can move this square around the whole screen, but apart from that, I can't do anything graphically. No login prompt appears as it used to. I finally managed to report this bug since it annoys me so much. The only thing I can do, is switching to tty1 and login in on the command line. While I can reboot the system from there, it doesn't help me much since suspending the computer is still useless. It even takes longer than a normal rebbot. How can I help you to track down the problem? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1156077] [NEW] Black screen when booting after a fresh install on chromebook
Public bug reported: I installed Ubuntu 13.04 on my Cr-48 chromebook, which went smoothly. However, once I boot for the first time the screen flickers showing only black. Sound appears to be working though since the login sound is made. The screen does begin to function once I close the lid to suspend then open the lid to resume though. Even then the cooling fan is startings to run indefinitely at high speed for no apparent reason since there is nothing running which is using a lot of resources. It's especially odd to me since prior releases of Ubuntu, even when in development, have not had these problems with this particular hardware configuration. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 537385] Re: does not terminate at computer shutdown
my system hangs on shutdown when using NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (version current) [Recommended] with Ubuntu 12.04. changing to NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (post-release updates) (version 173-updates) allows my computer to fully shut down. the problem destroyed my laptop monitor because the computer was overheating while in my laptop was closed (screen to keyboard) and in my laptop bag because it hadn't turned off. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/537385 Title: does not terminate at computer shutdown To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/537385/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Yep - unfortunately I docked to file the bug report, and when I undocked again it was no longer reproducible for me to take a picture of.
