[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1159654] [NEW] Crash when highlight-dragging text
Public bug reported: When I'm browsing online, I unconsciously highlight and deselect random text on the page. Sometime when I drag the text briefly X will crash. The crash consistently occurs at the moment the text-drag starts or right after. I've tried to reproduce the bug intentionally but can't, but I consistently get X crashes every 5 hours or so of surfing online. I use Chromium as my browser if it's relevant. The Xorg.0.log.old has some details about a segfault at the end, I'm pretty sure that lines up with the crash. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.
I am using 12.04 x86_64 and since a few days, my Ubuntu informs me about problems, which seem to relate to xserver-xorg-video-intel-lts-quantal. Sometimes, the whole computer (GUI hangs, no reaction on mouse/keyboard, can't switch to the terminal) hangs for several seconds. A few minutes ago, the machine completely froze and needed a hard reset. May this be the same issue or is it a new one with the lts-quantal backport? Install linux source (sudo apt-get install linux-source) and headers (sudo apt-get install linux-headers-generic). Uninstall nvidia driver - this depends on which version you installed (sudo apt-get remove nvidia-current or sudo apt-get remove nvidia- current-updates or sudo apt-get remove nvidia-experimental-304). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1160045] [NEW] GPU hangs, error messages and several instances of apport-gtk running
Public bug reported: From the updates around last Friday or Saturday, I now get repeated dialogue boxes with System program problem detected and Sorry, Ubuntu 12.10 has experienced an internal error. The executable path in the latter error is /usr/share/apport/apport-gpu-error-intel.py. several instances of apport-gtk run in the background maxing out the CPU but nothing ever happens - I had to submit this error bug using ubuntu-bug. This bug may be related to Bug #1073626 or bug #1140716. I'm reporting this as a distinct bug as unlike the former bug, I do see brief freezes (for instance, in scrolling Firefox windows) and the gpu hangs appear to be genuine prior to the dialogue boxes being displayed, and unlike the latter, rolling back to a previous kernel version does not solve the problem. Please accept my apologies if this behaviour is related to one of the bugs above. Ubuntu release: 12.10 What I expected to happen - no gpu hangs, no repeated dialogue boxes and apport-gtk to do something. What happened instead: frequent gpu hangs, repeated dialogue boxes and several instances of apport-gtk running whilst no progress is observed. Great info but without a computer science degree and years of training I'm guessing this info falls on deaf ears. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 972324] Re: server fails to start up if TMPDIR is set to something on a different filesystem from /var/lib/xkb
There may also exist a security issue, where user alice creates specially crafted keymaps in /tmp/$HASH.xkm and then user bob launched X and the X system tries to re-use alice's evil keymap. I'm unsure if the X server keymap loader is exploitable, but it is likely that keymaps should not be shared between users in this way (if nothing else, alice can upload a wacky keymap and bob may not know how to turn it off.) -A -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/972324 Title: server fails to start up if TMPDIR is set to something on a different filesystem from /var/lib/xkb To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/972324/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
