[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1131239] Re: [945gm] PGTBL_ER: 0x00000102

2013-04-10 Thread Harmen H
I have this problem since I think 12.04. Yesterday I reinstalled the 64
bit version of Ubuntu on my macbook and while only had 11.10 on cdrom I
started with this version to upgrade to raring. On 11.10 I didn't see
the problem (but also didn't test this version much) from 12.04 on I see
an error message popping up when I start using the system.

This morning I upgraded to 13.04 and it seems (I also had this idea with
former versions) that the moment I press the dash button, the bug is
triggered.

2013-04-10 Thread Chris Wilson
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1020393 ***

I think the underlying bug here is the PGTBL_ER: 0x2 which is an invalid
PTE for host access. Utterly baffling - the only hope is that the
rearrangement of mb() in drm-intel-nightly (ppa:mainline) help. If you
have a reasonably reliable test case, trying drm-intel-nightly would be
of tremendous help.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1167231] [NEW] Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in OsAbort() - Cannot mirror screen in good resolution

2013-04-10 Thread Till Kamppeter
Public bug reported:

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad Twist with Core i7 processor and on-chip HD4000
GPU. It has an internal 1366x768 (16:9) display and I have connected and
external 1920x1080 (16:9) monitor via HDMI. By default the display gets
mirrored with only 1024x768 (4:3) because this is the highest common
resolution of the two reported by xrandr. I can switch to a large
desktop formed by the two screens with the System Settings (section
Display) with each screen using its native resolution.

To get a better mirroring I tried to mirror my screen via the command

xrandr --output LVDS 1--auto --output HDMI1 --auto --same-as LVDS1

taken from

https://kis.kellogg.northwestern.edu/Pages/ExternalDisplaysLinux.aspx

After that both screens showed garbage and do not react to mouse clicks
and key presses any more. Unplugging the external screen left the
internal with the garbage and I had to SSH in from another Ubuntu
machine and run

sudo restart lightdm

to recover the display of the laptop.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1167252] [NEW] black window for glmark2 and glxgears in Raring

2013-04-10 Thread Fiorenzo De Santis
Public bug reported:

When I run

glmark2

or

vblank_mode=0 glxgears

I get a black output window.

However both work well in full-screen mode

glmark2 --fullscreen
vblank_mode=0 glxgears -fullscreen

and glxgears works fine also without the vblank_mode=0 option

glxgears

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1167231] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in OsAbort() - Cannot mirror screen in good resolution

2013-04-10 Thread Till Kamppeter
Problem occurs only with the mainline kernel which I had installed due
to bug 1162732 (computer does not wake up from suspend).

With Raring's current standard kernel I can get into the desired mirror
mode via (also awkward):

xrandr --addmode HDMI1 1366x768
xrandr --output HDMI1 --mode 1366x768
xrandr --output HDMI1 --mode 1366x768 --same-as LVDS1

Output of uname -a with the official kernel:

Linux till-twist 3.8.0-17-generic #27-Ubuntu SMP Sun Apr 7 19:39:35 UTC

Right, the above patches should be correct now (he says hopefully). I
don't know which is the best to use.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1167301] [NEW] Mirroring display works only with 1024x768 (4:3) resolution whereas my laptop has 1366x768 (16:9) and the external monitor1920x1080 (16:9)

I can mirror with a higher resolution running the commands:

xrandr --addmode HDMI1 1366x768
xrandr --output HDMI1 --mode 1366x768
xrandr --output HDMI1 --mode 1366x768 --same-as LVDS1

This is rather awkward when using a projector.

The problem also persists when connecting the external screen to the
Mini DisplayPort (with adapter) instead of to the HDMI.

The output of xrandr --prop with both screens connected in large-
desktop-over-both-screens mode (no mirroring):

Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 3286 x 1080, maximum 32767 x 32767

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1157678] Re: unplugging an external monitor from laptop results in corrupted screen. Logging out fixes it.

2013-04-10 Thread Chris J Arges
I can reproduce this issue using:
xrandr --output DP1 --auto --primary --output LVDS1 --off
With 3.8.0-17-generic and drm-intel-next (3.9.0-997) after plugging in an
external monitor.

Perhaps this is a different issue than the one reported on freedesktop.

Same here, and it happened with nvidia-310-updates as well.
Temp solution - loading the 3.8.0-16 and running `sudo dpkg-reconfigure
nvidia-310` and then everything is fine if you enter this kernel and not 17.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1155838] Re: raring: corrupted display on LVDS when I disconnect my HDMI output

2013-04-10 Thread Steve Langasek
regarding comment #3 from Bryce, the monitors.xml is not an issue here;
I've moved this aside and still been able to reproduce it, and I've
reproduced this also with a completely clean guest account.

It is not specific to the mainline kernel; it's reproducible both with
the raring kernel and with the other (Ubuntu) test kernels I was
running.

I'm attaching two files, xrandr-good.txt and xrandr-bad.txt, for xrandr
--verbose output with and without corruption respectively. In the 'bad'
case, the corruption appears on the HDMI output - but this is not always
true; it may appear on one output or the other.

I can't say I see anything that points to this being a gnome bug, as I
can reproduce the problem when calling xrandr directly to set the mode
('xrandr --output LVDS1 --pos 1680x0').

** Attachment added: xrandr-bad.txt
