[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1167301] Re: REGRESSION: Mirroring display works only with 1024x768 (4:3) resolution whereas my laptop has 1366x768 (16:9) and the external monitor 1920x1080 (16:9)
Regarding Ubuntu 13.04: I just noticed that I am NOT restricted to a resolution of 1024x768 when using a kernel from an earlier daily build. Rather, mirroring works properly again in Ubuntu 13.04 with the Linux 3.8.0-7-generic kernel. Mirroring may also work with kernels that are more recent than 3.8.0-7. But other than with 3.8.0-19 (with which mirroring doesn't work properly), I haven't yet had a chance to test more recent kernels. Of possible interest to some, rolling back to Linux 3.8.0-7-generic also cured a recent problem in which HDMI audio wasn't working with my Radeon card. See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/897008 So the problem seems to integral to the recent kernels updates. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1167301 Title: REGRESSION: Mirroring display works only with 1024x768 (4:3) resolution whereas my laptop has 1366x768 (16:9) and the external monitor 1920x1080 (16:9) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1167301/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

As described in comment #29 the problem can be solved by downgrading the kernel, so it is most probably a regression in the kernel. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1121379] Re: Multiple finger touch fails on Sony Vaio Duo 11 running Ubuntu 12.10 (N-Trig DuoSense MultiTouch)
I have been testing with Ubuntu 13.04 and 3.9 rc kernel from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline for a couple of weeks. The kernel drivers seems to work good. No error messages or bug traces appear in logs. evtest properly reports BTN_TOUCH events all the time. But I think I now have stuck on this unity(?) bug also reported on other devices: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1099289 : Randomly, after some time using the touchscreen unity stops registering click events on tapping. Click with tap continues to work on some application parts (e.g. gnome-terminal tabs, or unity shutdown/logout dialog), but launcher, window titlebar and most applications' windows cannot be clicked with tapping. I have also tested with gnome-shell and kde from 13.04 repositories and seem to have similar issues. After some time (especially when doing fast subsequent taps on the screen or trying to drag a scrollbar or type on the on-screen keyboard) the main components of the desktop environment (panels, dialogs etc) do not accept a click with tapping, while the cursor continues to move properly at the tapped point and evtest properly reports BTN_TOUCH events. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-evdev in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1121379 Title: Multiple finger touch fails on Sony Vaio Duo 11 running Ubuntu 12.10 (N-Trig DuoSense MultiTouch) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-image-3.5.0-030500-generic/+bug/1121379/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1098334] Re: [gen4 sna] Font corruption in Chromium tab bar
I'm seeing the jittery behavior when scrolling any window in Firefox and Thunderbird. Also, I have noticed occasional font corruption (to the point that it is illegible) when using Citrix Receiver to run remote desktop to my corporate Citrix server (altering the RDP display properties from Full Color to 24-bit, or 16-bit will normally result in uncorrupted rendering.) [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 750437] Re: fglrx hard lockup on shutdown
Problem still occures on Toshiba A300 with ATI Radeon 3470. (Ubuntu 12.04.2, gnome-shell). Almost every time I was informed that watchdog detected hard lockup on cpu. (No log file to post at the moment) I've tried adding nomodeset to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT, but with no luck. Also tried this solution: http://mylinuxexplore.blogspot.com/2011/11 /solved-ubuntu-doesnt-shutdown-properly.html, which didn't solve it either. No issue with open source drivers. Thanks Till. I tested a few more mainline kernels, including 3.8.3, 3.8.4, 3.8.5, 3.8.6, and 3.8.8. Unfortunately, mirroring also doesn't work properly with any of those tested mainline kernels. So at present, at least for me, the only relatively recent kernels that properly support mirroring in Ubuntu 13.04 on my AMD Radeon HD6670 are: Ubuntu 3.8.0-7-generic Mainline 3.8.0 I hope to perform a clean install soon after Ubuntu 13.04 is officially released. If this bug hasn't been fix by then, I'd like to revert to one of the above kernels after the clean install. But unfortunately, if Ubuntu 3.8.0-7-generic isn't readily available for download at that time, I'll likely be forced to use mainline 3.8.0. So here's hoping that older (pre-release) Ubuntu kernels will be available after the official release of Ubuntu 13.04. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1167301 Title: REGRESSION: Mirroring display works only with 1024x768 (4:3) resolution whereas my laptop has 1366x768 (16:9) and the external monitor 1920x1080 (16:9) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1167301/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
