[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1174335] Re: Second external monitor (over display port) not working anymore
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: Hello I'm using a EliteBook Folio 9470 (Intel QM77 chipset with Intel HD Graphics 4000) and initially installed 13.04 beta2. I used to work with 2 external monitors plugged in (one via VGA and the other one using a HP-DisplayPort-To-HDMI-adapter). Everything worked properly (both displays using 1920x1080 resolution, laptop lid closed); I used this config the last time on 2013-04-26. Some package upgrades were performed in the meantime (I guess including the final release) and this morning when trying to boot in this configuration again, the second external monitor (via display port) is not recognized anymore. The first external monitor (VGA) is still recognized and working as expected. xrandr output: Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 3520 x 1080, maximum 32767 x 32767 LVDS1 connected 1600x900+0+180 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 309mm x 174mm 1600x900 60.1*+ 40.0 1440x900 59.9 1360x768 59.8 60.0 1152x864 60.0 1024x768 60.0 800x60060.3 56.2 640x48059.9 VGA1 connected 1920x1080+1600+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 521mm x 293mm 1920x1080 60.0*+ 1680x1050 60.0 1280x1024 75.0 60.0 1440x900 59.9 1280x960 60.0 1152x864 75.0 1024x768 75.1 70.1 60.0 832x62474.6 800x60072.2 75.0 60.3 56.2 640x48072.8 75.0 66.7 60.0 720x40070.1 HDMI1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) DP1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) HDMI2 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) DP2 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) (shows only laptop VGA display) Since my old configuration with both displays is still in ~/.config/monitors.xml, I assume there was a port named 'HDMI3' that is not there anymore: monitors version=1 configuration cloneno/clone output name=LVDS1 vendorAUO/vendor product0x313e/product serial0x/serial /output output name=VGA1 vendorACI/vendor product0x24f3/product serial0x0001cdb6/serial width1920/width height1080/height rate60/rate x1920/x y0/y rotationnormal/rotation reflect_xno/reflect_x reflect_yno/reflect_y primaryno/primary /output output name=HDMI1 /output output name=DP1 /output output name=HDMI2 /output output name=HDMI3 vendorACI/vendor product0x24f3/product serial0x0001cda5/serial width1920/width height1080/height rate60/rate x0/x y0/y rotationnormal/rotation reflect_xno/reflect_x reflect_yno/reflect_y primaryyes/primary /output output name=DP2 /output output name=DP3 /output /configuration configuration cloneno/clone output name=LVDS1 vendorAUO/vendor product0x313e/product product0x313e/product product0x313e/product serial0x/serial width1600/width height900/height rate60/rate x0/x y0/y rotationnormal/rotation reflect_xno/reflect_x reflect_yno/reflect_y primaryyes/primary /output output name=VGA1 /output output name=HDMI1 /output output name=DP1 /output output name=HDMI2 output name=HDMI2 output name=HDMI2 /output output name=DP2 /output /configuration configuration cloneno/clone output name=LVDS1 vendorAUO/vendor product0x313e/product serial0x/serial width1600/width height900/height rate60/rate x0/x y0/y rotationnormal/rotation reflect_xno/reflect_x reflect_yno/reflect_y primaryyes/primary /output /output /output output name=VGA1 vendorACI/vendor product0x24f3/product serial0x0001cdb6/serial width1920/width height1080/height rate60/rate x1600/x y0/y rotationnormal/rotation reflect_xno/reflect_x reflect_yno/reflect_y primaryno/primary /output output name=HDMI1

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1175100] [NEW] Fullscreen windows switch screens in multi-screen mode
Public bug reported: Fullscreen windows seem to arbitrarily switch which screen they sit on, though I have found a way to replicate reliably. My configuration is: Laptop + external (larger) screen, with external screen automatically set up as primary display by Nvidia settings autodetection. I have chrome open with Twitter installed as a unity webapp and therefore appearing in the message notification menu. I also have workspaces enabled. Chrome is in my top-left workspace, fullscreen on my laptop display. If I'm working on my top right workspace and click the Twitter icon in the message notification menu, and switch back to top-left, Chrome has jumped to my external display (still full-screen) and now shows the Twitter tab. Other unity webapps open already perform in the same way, though if I'm on the same workspace as Chrome, the window doesn't switch display. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1155327] Re: skype crashed with SIGSEGV in malloc@plt()
@gunnarhj: Yes, I also tried it with both libqtwebkit4 2.2.1 and 2.3.0. Whatever was causing the problem, seemed to be from the upgrade of some other package when upgrading to raring. Investigating further with gdb, I found this: Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. 0x08075f44 in malloc@plt () (gdb) bt #0 0x08075f44 in malloc@plt () #1 0xb4f8a653 in g_malloc () from /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libglib-2.0.so.0 #2 0xb4f8a92b in g_malloc_n () from /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libglib-2.0.so.0 #3 0xb4f93e10 in g_quark_from_static_string () from /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libglib-2.0.so.0 #4 0xb5045822 in ?? () from /lib/ld-linux.so.2 That indicated some issue with libglib2.0-0. I was using the latest GNOME packages, including libglib 2.37.0 from the ricotz testing PPA. I reverted it back to 2.36.0, and now Skype works again. The issue I was facing was not related to libGL, and I have resolved it for now. But I thought of pointing this out, because maybe Skype will still crash for anybody running with a newer version of glib, irrespective of which graphics driver they are running. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-304 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1155327 Title: skype crashed with SIGSEGV in malloc@plt() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-304/+bug/1155327/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1173491] Re: Boot to Safe Graphics after upgrade to Raring
Thanks for the advice, Chris! The --newmode/--addmode arguments will be very useful. I do want to use that mode quite badly, as the display represents all other resolutions I tried (of which there were many on the older kernels) very badly. I presently cannot remember on what basis I concluded that 14x9 was the display's actual native resolution, so I can't claim I'm certain that that is correct. However, I am quite certain that the actual native resolution is not on the list of detected resolutions. I will try to back my claims up with something solid (however, it will have to wait till tomorrow, at least, as I am not presently near the system in question). I did try analysing the EDID data, using the read-edid tools from http://www.polypux.org/projects/read-edid/ . The tools did complain that there was something unexpected about the EDID data and that it was probably bad. Thus I suspect that the EDID data is indeed bad and that something changed about how faulty data is handled between kernel 3.7 and 3.8, causing the previously detected modes (of which there were many more) to no longer be detected. As for the additional logs of the working 14x9 mode: If you are still interested in them, then I will be happy to try and produce/collect them, when I get back to the affected system. I am not quite clear on what you are after, though. If you are just interested in a set of logs where the system successfully booted with light-dm switching to the 14x9 mode, then the original set of logs I uploaded seems to be what you are looking for. In particular, you can see: [+1.57s] DEBUG: Connecting to XServer :0 [+1.57s] DEBUG: Launching process 1674: xrandr --output HDMI2 --primary --mode 1440x900 [+2.59s] DEBUG: Process 1674 exited with return value 0 [+2.59s] DEBUG: Exit status of xrandr --output HDMI2 --primary --mode 1440x900: 0 [+2.59s] DEBUG: Starting greeter That just shows that it didn't mind using the mode in question on kernel 3.7 (at least on RC8). However, I suspect that you were after something more specific. If so, please let me know. Yes, I also have a Dell XPS 1640, if that still doesn't work for you, I don't understand why it is solved for me. Have you tried an apt-get upgrade ? Very strange... Before this was solved this was my temporary solution : https://launchpad.net/~makson96/+archive/fglrx I hope it will help you, but this problem stays with the opensource driver (eventhough I don't know why it's now working for me). ** Attachment added: Xorg.0.log https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/1174042/+attachment/3661686/+files/Xorg.0.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1174042 Title: System crashes with open-source radeon driver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/1174042/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1174042] Re: System crashes with open-source radeon driver
From the Xorg.0.log, you do have the small non-RGBLED-Display, which is Not Full-HD? This might be the difference to mine. Thanks for the tip with the downgrade-ppa, I'll test it later on. There still might be something left on your system from this ppa. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1175279] [NEW] Focus gets stuck on the current application
Public bug reported: After 20 mins or so of use the mouse pointer continues to move however the click out of the current window never seems to register. This leaves the current app in focus. I also can't use the keyboard to change focus. The interesting thing is some apps seem to keep responding to the mouse when it was currently focused. Other apps (Chrome in particular) don't respond. I guess its something to do with how they are structured from an X perspective. I have found a work around switching to one of the other consoles via the Ctrl Alt F Keys then switching back. The system then works perfectly, however it will have the same issue a few minutes later. It seems to happen at startup frequently 50% roughly of the time it will look up in the first minute after booting. After that it happens every 20 minutes or so. Can't find any pattern to when it happens. It seems to happen at random and doesn't seem to matter which app has focus. I know its not a Compiz or Unity bug (as I originally thought) as Gnome Shell has the same issue. So as far as I can tell it means it must be an issue with Xorg itself. This originally occurred after an upgrade to 12.10. However 13:04 suffers the same issue. I have also done a reinstall of 12.10 which exhibits the same issue. ** Affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: The Xorg Log File https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1175279/+attachment/3661704/+files/Xorg.0.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1175279 Title: Focus gets stuck on the current application To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1175279/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

This bug occurs randomly (but it is very frequent). I have the problem again : GPU lockups during startup that result in a black screen after boot process. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1174042] Re: System crashes with open-source radeon driver
I can reproduce the problem every single time, so it might have something to do with the resolution or dependent things like the used graphic memory or the bandwidth... Do you have the amd64 version of ubuntu or the i386? If your system did boot up correctly, do you get the problem during the normal, daily usage or does it just occur during the boot process? Does the problem start right after the grub-menu or during the switch to the lightdm greeter? For me, it's amd64 and the lockup always is during transition to the lightdm greeter. Another touch problem: If I run Chromium browser and try to drag and drop one of the tabs using the touch screen, the left button gets stuck down and it does not get even unstuck if I continue working with the external Bluetooth mouse. Daniel, on my 1.14 I do not see any problem, also when testing with xev. Both with the external mouse and my finger on the touch screen I see ButtonPress events when I press and hold the mouse button or when I put my finger onto the screen and I get ButtonRelease events when I release the mouse button or take my finger from the screen. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1068994]
I have more experience with the onboard-aided right click (same running under Val;grind or without Valgrind): Touch-clicking the right-click key on onboard makes it turning grey. After that doing one touch click on the desktop background does nothing. A second touch click on the background makes the right-click menu open and onboard disappear. Right-clicking in Chromium does not work. The second click only makes onboard disappear but does not pop up the right-click menu of Chromium. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1068994 Title: button1 gets stuck after a while To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/oem-priority/+bug/1068994/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
