[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1070677] Re: Xorg fails to start because of Radeon Issue [(EE) RADEON(0): [drm] failed to set drm interface version]

2013-05-15 Thread MarcS
Seeing the same thing here, on Ubuntu 12.04. Graphics adapter (lspci) is
Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Caicos [Radeon HD 7000 Series],
xserver-xorg-video-ati at 1:6.14.99~git20111219.aacbd629-0ubuntu2.

The start lightdm workaround works for me aswell, although I have to
*re*-start it, as it claims to be already running.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1178263] Re: [ivb mesa] blorp death

2013-05-15 Thread Markus Grobelin
Hello,

yesterday I received xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.21.6+git20130514 for
quantal branch, which is used by Mint 14. Raring packages seemed to be
released earlier, which explains why I couldn't see the updates.

Apart from this: SNA acceleration is working again with this version.

Thank you!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 910539] Re: maximum number of clients reached

2013-05-15 Thread SSShei
There is an easy way around this -- rename (or even delete) the file
/etc/ati/atiapfuser.blb. From my research this is a user profile which
doesn't seem to be utilized, at least in my case. When that files exist,
you will see LOTS of entries like:

Xorg21747 root 103r REG8,40 16387220
/etc/ati/atiapfuser.blb

in the output of sudo lsof -P `pidof X`. But after I 'mv' the file,
not long these entries.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 956071]

2013-05-15 Thread Moondrake
Hmm, Peter, can you confirm that patch is already in Fedora 18. It seems to
have been merged as part of:
* Tue Oct 30 2012 Peter Hutterer peter.hutte...@redhat.com 1.13.0-6
- Add touchscreen fixes (including pointer emulation) #871064

So unless it was reverted by a later patch (at 1.13.2-1 now), this is
not it (unless these fixes are causing it instead of preventing it, but
that is not what you meant is it?)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1179311] Re: Single click on folder sometimes opens it

2013-05-15 Thread peterzay
I have just made an embarrassing discovery.

I replaced the mouse and solved the problem. Sure wish I had thought of
that earlier, it would have saved a lot of trouble.

It is very bizarre for a new mouse to intermittently send a double click
signal for a physical single click.

Life is full of rude awakenings!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1152304] Re: Sometimes key presses get stuck leading to repeated characters

2013-05-15 Thread Andrew Nenakhov
I'm affected by this as well.

I'm also experiencing slight short lockups approx every once in a minute
when keyboard stops responding and mouse cursor stops moving (easily
reproduced by moving cursor slowly in curcular pattern, after several
circles it just 'hangs' and stops moving for a second, then works
normally). I have a feeling these issues are related, perhaps I'll
fileseparate bug report for this.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1068994]

2013-05-15 Thread Dsd-o
(In reply to comment #76)
tried to bisect this, but I can't see any difference in the xev output
before or after that commit. Tested several revisions after (and 3e15158985)
 and xev works as expected.

Thanks for testing - I have now looked closer.

The patch removes a field from struct _GrabInfoRec. That is an ABI
change, what does it affect? It does seem to break stuff outside of the
xserver according to my initial test.

If I readd the field, even though it is now unused, xev works again.

oh, right. sorry, I forgot to mention this - it is indeed a ABI break so
you have to recompile the drivers (or add the now-unused field back in).
Maarten, this could also be the reason for your bug?

What are the git commands to access

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1068994]

2013-05-15 Thread pauls
I still need help compiling the test branch of xserver on ubuntu 13.04.
If I try to compile it, detailed here
http://www.x.org/wiki/CompileXserverManually it fails with complaints of
wrong versions of x11proto. But, I have verified that the correct
packages are actually installed on my system. So, I tried using jhbuild
which builds everything in your home directory, details here
http://www.x.org/wiki/JhBuildInstructions But, when I launch the jhbuild
version, it crashes because it doesn't include my synaptics touchpad or
cando touch screen. It won't run without input devices. So, can you
provide some insight as to how I can build and test this xserver? Since
some of you are using ubuntu, perhaps more specific instructions would
work for me.

TIA

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1068994]

2013-05-15 Thread John Faulkner
(In reply to comment #88)

Hello.

I would like to provide testing for this bug if possible but I'm not
exactly clued up on compiling xorg-server from scratch. I figure it
could be useful to have a none-standard (ie not a laptop or tablet
device) low-end hardware test case but if it's unlikely to be useful
then please let me know.

One thing I've noticed is that once this bug has triggered (rendering
most GTK applications and the unity dash unusable), Nautilus continues
to function normally with the touch screen. Can anyone else confirm this
on a standard Ubuntu 13.04 installation?

Anyway, I can see the branch you're talking about and can clone the git
repository no problem.

Copy the debian directory from xserver 1.14, and comment out each
patch that fails to apply in debian/patches/series

I'm not certain which directory / patches you're referring to here,
could you point me in the right direction?

I can duplicate this bug every time with a custom application which uses
a GtkToolPalette. It appears to trigger every time I tap a category
which produces a smooth roll-out animation - the hardware is pretty low
end so I suppose this additional load triggers a race condition? I can
trigger the bug in other normal uses but this one is guaranteed every
time.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1007765] Re: brightness adjusting crashes system

2013-05-15 Thread Julian Neil
I still have this problem with 3.8.0-19-generic #30-Ubuntu SMP Wed May 1
16:35:23 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
 with intel graphics HD4000.

When I first boot, changing brightness is fine. But after a period of
time, it will hang if I adjust the brightness.

Similarly, when I first boot I can logout and power down my laptop
without issues, but after a time, if I attempt to log out or shutdown it
hangs. I suspect these hangs are both related.

Adding 'acpi_backlight=vendor' to the kernel parameters didn't make much
of a difference for me.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1180528] [NEW] cannot switch between ttys only X11 tty available

2013-05-15 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Cannot switch between tty's using ctrl+alt+f[1,7]. Doesn't work while at
lightdm login, or after while logged into Desktop Environment.

If attempted, then screen hangs.. until return to X11 tty (f7 for me).

Not sure which package is affected (X?)

Details:
OS: xubuntu 13.04 amd64
Graphics: Atom N2800 (Integrated)
Graphics Driver: gma500_gfx
