[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1213612] [NEW] Ubuntu freezes after login (30-60 seconds) with Nouveau (Geforce GTX 580)
Public bug reported: Freshly installed Ubuntu freezes after login (30-60 seconds). Only hard reset possible. The problem is the Nouveau driver with my Geforce GTX 580. After I installed the NVIDIA proprietary driver it works flawlessly again. When asking about help I even found another GTX 580 user with the same problem. This didn't happen in earlier Ubuntu versions (Didn't have this problem about 1-2 years ago on the same PC). Terrible user experience after a first start. Without use of the terminal you can't solve it. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 878501] Re: ps/2 keyboard not working [irqbalance?]
Alen Masic, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.11-rc5 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 892551] [NEW] Trackpad mouse pointer freezes shortly after login; requires module unload/reload
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I have an Asus EeePC 1005-HA and am running Oneiric. Shortly after every login, my mouse stops responding entirely, and can only be revived either by logging out and back in (which is futile) or unloading/reloading the psmouse kernel module. Steps to reproduce: 1. Log in 2. Perform normal activities for maybe five minutes, possibly only thirty seconds. 3. The mouse will stop responding. This seems to be slightly correlated with switching windows or Firefox tabs. After the workaround, the mouse never freezes again until I log out and back in. Sometimes, though, the tapping or drag-scrolling feature stops working without the pad itself freezing, and this requires another module cycle. Looking at `dmesg` tells me that there are a number of diagnostics: psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 1 that seem to be produced at that time. I don't know if this is a kernel bug or not; I am attaching the appropriate logs. Ryan Reich, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1211207] Re: Keyboard and Mouse stop working after undefined time
Before trying this, attempt to switch to a virtual terminal using the frozen keyboard on the off chance that that hotkey combo still is received. If that works just execute the commands there, but if not you will have to do the following: They will not contain relevant information after reboot, so what you will have to do will involve another machine on the same wireless or wired network. Install the package openssh-server (sudo apt-get install openssh-server) on the pc that has the issue, and then ssh into it to run the relevant commands. If the other machine uses Windows you will need to install putty.exe from http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html. If the other machine uses either Linux or MacOS you can use the command: ssh user@hostname. With user being your account name and host being the IP address of the affected Ubuntu machine. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1211207 Title: Keyboard and Mouse stop working after undefined time To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1211207/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
