NACK on this patch: this particular pin should be driven by a PWM in
SOR, as indicated in 0xe100. Rather look if routing from PWM to GPIO pin
is correct...

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1219446] [NEW] Skype video is green on Hashwell

2013-09-01 Thread Gaspar Sinai
Public bug reported:

I had a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS.

I downloaded skype-ubuntu-precise_4.2.0.11-1_i386.deb from the official
site and installed it on my Haswell (i7 4770k) computer wich uses Intel
Graphics. No video card in this system.

Both local and remote skype video on my screen was solid green, the
remote partner could see me without problems.

I tried downgrading to skype-debian_2.2.0.35-1_amd64.deb which is known
to be working on my Sandy Bridge ( i7 2630QM) machine. This resulted in
local (preview) video working both remote still being solid green.

I found a workaround that fixed both skype versions:

- Generate an /etc/X11/xorg.conf with Xorg -configure
- Add the folowing to Device section for Intel Graphics
 Option "AccelMethod" "uxa"

This wrokaround slows down all accelerated graphics - I wish the default
would work..

This patch requires acpi_backlight=vendor to be set because it tests for the
presence of a backlight by testing drm->backlight. An alternative to this test
would be checking for the GPIO to be present and routed to SOR, but I wouldn't
be surprised if there is at least one device that expects our driver to route
it manually. How should we go about this?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1208207] Re: driver crash

2013-09-01 Thread peter swain
still occurs under old kernel 3.8.0-23-generic, but perhaps it's an undiagnosed
kernel bug there, showing up with tighter assertions in later drm/nouveau code.
There's some drm/nouveau changes in upstream kernel I'll explore, then I'll
re-post under kernel when I have fresh logs

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1211123] Re: Xorg i915 hangcheck hung GPU after workspace switch

2013-09-01 Thread Paul
Had a non-fatal GPU hang (possibly a different issue), but when I tried
to cat the file I got:

cat: /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/i915_error_state: Cannot allocate memory

The kernel also syslogged detailed information about this. Presumably
it's kernel memory that can't be allocated, since the system has plenty
of free RAM, not to mention swap.

I've reset the i915_error_state and subsequent cats succeed, though of
course the state is empty. I'll need to restart X now, as it's switched
to an unaccelerated mode. Will update if I see the parent crash bug
again.
