[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1179383] Re: LED Touch Buttons, Touchpad toggle not working in Toshiba Qosmio F60

2013-10-29 Thread solomon sunder
I think the solution what I am searching can be fulfilled by quickstart. Can
some one have a look at this link. http://quickstart.sourceforge.net/
https://www.fortresslinux.org/download/FL-Docs/flhwlist/kernel.html
It remember seeing PNP0C32 somewhere in Windows 7 as well. Don't know whether
this implemented for my Toshiba in Ubuntu. This is the last ray of hope I have
of solving this.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1232658] Re: glamoregl fails to load with binary drivers

2013-10-29 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Hello A.R.NARESH, or anyone else affected,

Accepted glamor-egl into saucy-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glamor-
egl/0.5.1-0ubuntu4.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

Using -0ubuntu4.1 should allow saucy xorg-server to start again when
having binary drivers installed, if it was broken before. I'll also test
the case with no binary drivers.

If you didn't have the errors before 12.04.3 you can still revert to the video
stack / kernel of 12.04.2 (Quantal) or 12.04 (Precise).

Create a file mock with this content:
{Menu: [{Menu: [Open, Save, Save As, Quit], Title: File},
{Menu: [Help 1, Help 2, Help 3, Help 4], Title: Help}],

start recordmydesktop with compiz enabled:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1068404] Re: Low graphics mode in muxless hybrid ATI/Intel GPU systems after fglrx upgrade

2013-10-29 Thread Marco Vuano
@kpijarski: The bug niniendowarrior talked about is this
http://ati.cchtml.com/show_bug.cgi?id=848
I don't know how to solve your problem. I'm using the fglrx drivers version
13.11 beta version 6 (2:13.250-0ubuntu1 on Ubuntu 12.10 64 bit) and only the
secondary monitor to have its full resolution and I'm fine, even when resuming
from suspend mode.
Have you checked the cable you are using and if you are outputting a supported
mode to your monitor? In case you don't see any supported modes on the
Monitor window you should use xrandr and create a custom mode.

Anyway, no need to say that the new drivers don't show any regression
regarding the main bug here and the other bugs I mentioned.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1245889] [NEW] Projector Powerlite 8350 is not recognized on nVidia 2000M

2013-10-29 Thread Saverio Miroddi
Public bug reported:

I have a Lenovo W520 laptop, with an nVidia Quadro 2000M; in the BIOS,
I've configured the system to use only the discrete graphics card.

When I plug my Epson Powerlite 8350 projector (using the base nouveau
drivers), it's not recognized, so the maximum resolution I can use is
1024x768.

If I use the nvidia-319, it's still not recognized.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1221403] Re: Pressing Caps Lock toggles LED even when mapped to another key

2013-10-29 Thread Norbert
** Description changed:

I have the the Caps Lock and Esc keys swapped; that is, pressing Caps
Lock generates an Esc keycode and vice versa. This was done using the
options in the keyboard settings, which seem to have disappeared
  recently.

With this setup, pressing either the Esc and Caps Lock keys will toggle
the Caps Lock LED. As a result the LED does not accurately reflect the
state of the caps lock function. My expectation is that only the key
which toggles the caps lock function (in this case Esc) should toggle
the LED, and that the state of the LED should always accurately reflect
the state of the caps lock function.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1245730] Re: just installed ubuntu and found this.

2013-10-29 Thread Quinn Balazs
The Cinnamon Project is not tracked in Launchpad, the preferred method
of reporting a bug against the project as a whole, is to file one here:
https://github.com/linuxmint/Cinnamon/issues. There are known issues
with Cinnamon and Unity not working well together in 13.10. If this
issue is fixed in the Ubuntu package, file this on Cinnamon's tracker,
and give us a link to the bug. If this is still happening in the Ubuntu
package, file against the Cinnamon package in Ubuntu, and link us the
upstream report.

Before filing anything against Cinnamon, please attach /var/log/syslog
to this report. It would also be helpful if you could tell us what the
text of the X error that you experienced was, as that will make it
easier to tell if we are targeting Cinnamon or X in this issue.

Thanks,

Quinn Balazs

cleanly now as I no longer have errors related to it in my logs.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1245898] Re: xkbcomp error: Can't find file extras/us for symbols include

2013-10-29 Thread Jay Foad
It turns out that this problem was caused by someone or something
modifying my copy of /usr/share/X11/xkb/rules/evdev. Reinstalling the
xkb-data package fixed it. Sorry for the noise.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 910539] Re: maximum number of clients reached

2013-10-29 Thread padarjohn
I don't think this is an issue with a hardcoded constant in X, not
unless someone recently made it much smaller. I hadn't seen this problem
at all in 15+ years of using Linux/X, not until upgrading from 10.04LTS
to 12.04LTS.

More likely it's a newly introduced resource leak in X or gnome.

I'm using the nVidia driver.

I hit this yesterday and had to log out/restart X, and I'm already
hitting it again today.

After killing everything except a single terminal and this instance of
Firefox I notice out of 244 root window children over 160 instances of
this sort:

 0xc001b9 (has no name): () 238x196+842+518 +842+518
2 children:
0xc001ba (has no name): () 236x164+1+27 +843+545
0xc001bb (has no name): () 238x196+0+0 +842+518

They're all children of the root window. There are some duplicates, for
instance (ignoring their 2 children):

 0xc01660 (has no name): () 1077x1052+850+154 +850+154
 0xc016b1 (has no name): () 1077x1052+324+118 +324+118
 0xc017ea (has no name): () 1077x1052+850+154 +850+154
 0xc01877 (has no name): () 1077x1052+850+154 +850+154
 0xc018fb (has no name): () 1077x1052+850+154 +850+154
 0xc01947 (has no name): () 1077x1052+850+154 +850+154
 0xc019cc (has no name): () 1077x1052+850+154 +850+154
 0xc01a45 (has no name): () 1077x1052+850+154 +850+154

I used to think it was xscreensaver, but I disabled that. I have no screensaver
process running now. The only strange thing that might be related is a shell
script I run that fires off xplanet every 5 minutes to generate a jpeg and then
calls
  gconftool -t str -s /desktop/gnome/background/picture_filename file.jpg
to update the background image.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1242767] Re: computer freeze trying to exit gnome-control-center

2013-10-29 Thread Ysaias Torres
Short story: About four days ago I installed the Nvidia-current display
driver and removed the Nouveau display driver and my system has not
frozen

Long story: To remove the “Nouveau display driver” first install the
“Nvidia-Current” display driver.
I ran into trouble because I removed the Nouveau -specific kernel DRM services
-runtime and the “system settings” stopped working. Then I ran into more
trouble because I removed the Nouveau display driver before installing the
Nvidia-Current. Somehow I was able to go to a shell and installed the
Nvidia-current driver with sudo apt-get -install nvidia-current (or something
like that). That made the graphics work but still the “system settings” did not
work. I reinstalled the Nouveau -specific kernel DRM services -runtime and the
“system settings' still did not work. I found out that I needed to install or
reinstall de Gnome-Control-Center and I did using “sudo apt-get -reinstall
gnome-control-center” or “sudo apt-get -install gnome-control-center”. Since I
kept uninstalling and reinstalling the “runtime”, the “reinstall” worked at one
point but then it didn't so I finally used the “install”. My system has been
working fine since then and has not frozen, but I'm not using the Nouveau
Display Driver

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1222718] Re: Using fglrx, chromium tabs not displaying titles

2013-10-29 Thread Matt Giuca
Update from Chromium's side: I have a workaround for this issue
(tracking on this bug http://crbug.com/123104). I am hoping we can get
the fix out with Chromium 31, but I can't make any promises at this
stage (since we are very late in the Chromium 31 release process). But
it will definitely be fixed for Chromium 32.

Note that I have not been able to address the root issue. I'm assuming
there's a new bug in Cairo but I don't know what is causing this -- it
is something to do with the subtle fade effect on the right side of the
tab text. My quick-and-dirty workaround for Chromium 31 simply disables
the fade effect, and my full fix for Chromium 32 switches to a different
text rendering engine for tab titles.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1067320] Re: 1002:6798 [fglrx] VT cursor is visible and blinking on top of Unity Radeon HD 7970 and 5450

2013-10-29 Thread dennyg...@gmail.com
I run Xubuntu 12.04.3 LTS 64 bit version. I also have this problem with
fglrx and fglrx-updates.

Logging out and back in solves the issue. This issue doesn't show up on
every boot, it happens about one in every three or four boots.
