[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1248391] [NEW] Can't mirror more than 640x480

2013-11-05 Thread Chris Weiss
Public bug reported:

i3 cpu, lspci lists as vga "Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core
Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09)"

trying to mirror lcd and HDMI. only option is 640x480. tried
increasing video ram in BIOS, 512MB won't boot, all smaller values do
not change the options.

I cam mirror at 720P in windows, so the hardware should be capable.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1248351] Re: Common "Dutch US international" not available

2013-11-05 Thread Paul Sladen
** Description changed:

- Problem:
- Dead keycombinations not working as expected, for example "I'm" becomes "Iḿ".
- Adding a spreadsheet with every dead keycombination that doesn't work as
expected (expected output included).
+ In System Settings->Keyboard Layouts->Add the following Dutch layouts
+ are available:

- Solution:
- Add a Dutch (US international with dead keys) layout.
+ Dutch
+ Dutch (Macintosh)
+ Dutch (standard)
+ Dutch (Sun dead keys)
+
+ None of these are the common layout that Dutch users coming from MS
+ Windows may have used. The Dutch (Macintosh) layout is close, but
+ differs in the dead-keys configuration. Over the years, other users
+ have observed the same issue:
+
+ Add a Dutch (US international with dead keys) layout.
+
+ Ideally a "Dutch (US international with dead keys)" layout should be
+ added to 'xkb-data' so that users can view it. Note that the available
+ layouts available on the console differ from those available under the
+ GUI.
+
+ The dead keycombinations not working as expected are:
+
+ 1. "I'm" becomes "Iḿ".
+
+ (other combinations to follow).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1247709] Re: I lose keyboard an mouse responsiveness

2013-11-05 Thread Stephen Rees-Carter
Take a look at this bug, since I think it's the same issue:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1248100

As suggested in that one, try upgrading to the latest mainline kernel
(v3.12), like I did, and see if it fixes it. If so, then mark this bug
as a duplicate of that one, so they can be tracked together and fixed in
the main distro kernel version.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1219908] Re: [needs-packaging] All nvidia-current and nvidia-updates need repackaging to mirror official Nvidia releases...

2013-11-05 Thread AG Restringere
Thank you for releasing this fix, it's appreciated.

Recently I upgraded to 13.10 from 13.04 on my home machine a Dell Vostro
with a 'GeForce 8600M GT/PCIe/SSE2' and so far with the 319.60
'nvidia-319-updates' drivers I've had the best graphics and Unity/Compiz
performance and stability I've ever had using Ubuntu, it's very crisp.
I will have to test this further and see what happens when I put the
13.10 system under more diverse OpenGL and graphics use case scenarios.

For the 12.04 LTS I will have to install some test environments for the
'nvidia-319-updates' and 'nvidia-304-updates' release on Precise and do
some testing so I can relay my experiences and results.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1248248] [NEW] Text display corrupted since upgrade to saucy

2013-11-05 Thread Valentin Tablan
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1098334 ***

Public bug reported:

Since upgrading to saucy I see frequent corruption of text display. This
happens several times an hour. In all cases, the corruption can be
cleard by forcing a re-draw of the text (e.g. by selecting and
unselecting the affected piece of text).

See the attached screenshot for an example which was supposed to read
"other". This is from Firefox, but I have seen the same issue in
Thunderbird.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1238188] Re: [HP Compaq dc5850 Small Form Factor PC] No desktop effects on a radeon 3100 graphics card in saucy

2013-11-05 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Restoring regression-update tag as per Bug Description:
>"After the update on Sept. 30. all the graphics performance was gone."

Given the results of
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1238188/comments/32
this may not be kernel regression, but a regression in something else to
be demonstrated.

Sending to xorg for review given previously mentioned results.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1238188] [NEW] [HP Compaq dc5850 Small Form Factor PC] No desktop effects on a radeon 3100 graphics card in saucy

2013-11-05 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

On raring, my radeon 3100 was working pretty well. desktop cube switch was
working, for example. Blur effect slowed the desktop down. When I upgraded to
saucy on sept. 25 I soon noticed that the desktop was very fast. I could even
enable blur effect and it didn't do any harm. After the update on Sept. 30. all
the graphics performance was gone. Most desktop effects are disabled.
Compositing type is set to XRender, Qt graphics sytem is set to Native. When I
try to set Compositing Type to OpenGL and Qt graphics sytem to Raster, I get
the message, that 6 desktop effect could not be enabled. Detail window says
this is because they require OpenGL. I have no idea where to start digging, so
any help is appreciated.
regards,Hans-Peter
BTW: I'm not using the fglrx driver. I guess they quit support for the 3100 a
year ago, or maybe two (or they messed something up)
