[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1248391] Re: Can't mirror more than 640x480

2013-11-12 Thread Chris Weiss
X.0.log only seems to show the active modeline when I plug in the
projector.

but I see what's going on now, my list of resolutions on each display
only shares 640x480. I'm pretty sure on windows I had a 1280x720 option
on my laptop panel. is creating an xorg.conf the only method to add a
new mode to the drop down?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1015183] Re: Inconsistent mouse events for Acer T231H multitouch monitor

2013-11-12 Thread Chris Fester
For folks using Ubuntu 12.04LTS, and can't use the quantal/raring/newer
X server (due to whatever reasons, like maybe a binary-only video driver
for a "legacy" video card), this patch may work for you.

It's a first attempt at backporting Peter Hutterer's touch-grab-race-
condition-56578-v3 branch. Some sections aren't pretty due to all the
indentation changes, but it works for me. :) The patch was done mostly
by hand.

In order to use the patch you have to comment out the following from the series
file:
505_query_pointer_touchscreen.patch
506_touchscreen_pointer_emulation_checks.patch
507_touchscreen_fixes.patch

Let me re-state, this patch is for xserver-xorg-
core_1.11.4-0ubuntu10.*.deb Specifically I based it off of xserver-
xorg-core_1.11.4-0ubuntu10.14_i386.deb

Please let me know what you think. Thanks!
Chris

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1250017] Re: ........

2013-11-12 Thread Seth Arnold
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1244324] Re: glamor-egl crashes when running autopilot tests

2013-11-12 Thread Stéphane Graber
Hello Maarten, or anyone else affected,

Accepted glamor-egl into saucy-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glamor-
egl/0.5.1-0ubuntu4.2 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1247607] Re: Libdrm compiled with gcc 4.8 makes card hang on resume from s2disk

2013-11-12 Thread Stéphane Graber
Hello Ronald, or anyone else affected,

Accepted libdrm into saucy-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libdrm/2.4.46-1ubuntu1
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Thank you in
advance!

** Changed in: libdrm (Ubuntu Saucy)
Status: In Progress => Fix Committed

** Tags added: verification-needed

This did:

It would be ideal if you gave me a list of urls like above in preferred

because of

it would be nice to know where it got fixed.. drm-intel-next is
basically what'll end up in 3.13-rc1. If you are willing to bisect the
diff then fine, but I'd like to get a smaller set of commits to go
through :)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1250498] [NEW] haswell, X may freeze after resume

2013-11-12 Thread b3nmore
Public bug reported:

I'm trying to enable a reliable hibernate/resume cycle on a intel haswell
cpu/gpu system with ubuntu 13.10 +xfce. Until now I've failed, because I get
three possible outcomes, when resuming (without seeing any pattern). In all
cases pm reports, that 'Image restored successfully'; visible on tty1.
Resulting system states after resume:
i) resume just works fine, everything is o.k
ii) X freezes, screen is completely black, mostly no reaction to key strokes
(i.e. can't change to ttyX), but ssh is possible
iii) like ii) but network is not reachable (I'd say a complete freeze)

>From situation ii) I got a dmesg (attached), which makes me think, that
intel gpu driver is to blame.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1250400] [NEW] Sometime the last desktop session will flashback on restart with AMD Radeon HD 8410G[1002:999a] and radeon driver

2013-11-12 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

CID: 201303-13027 Dell Inspiron 5535

When rebooting the laptop, sometimes you will see the last window / programs
that you opened before you reboot the laptop.
It seems that it doesn't matter if you did close them before rebooting the
system or not.
This may raise some security concern.

Steps:
1. Install 12.04.3 + update, boot to desktop
2. Open your home folder
3. Leave it there and reboot

Expected result:
You won't see that home folder shows up during the boot session.

Actual result:
The home folder will flash back after the logo screen,

Not only the file manager, I also saw terminal / Firefox browser / movie player
flash back before on this system.
And this won't happen if the proprietary driver was installed.

Video attached, you could forward to 00:55 to see the flash back.

ProblemType: Bug

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1250399] [NEW] Missing display from half of monitor (novaeu three screens)

2013-11-12 Thread Alex Liam Kempster
Public bug reported:

On a cold boot the first screen on my display, out of three, will show
the desktop but with the bottom half of the monitor blank. The desktop
is not shrunk to fit the visible section but remains the same size as if
the full screen is being used. This results in the lower half of the
desktop not being visible. The displays are not mirrored. There are two
workarounds:

1. logout and back in again (works every time)
2. turn off the display through system settings -> display and then turning it
back on (this sometimes causes the system to hang, pressing [ctrl]+[c] will
cause the system to return to login page. When it hangs it states that it
cannot disconnect from plymouth.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1068404] Re: Low graphics mode in muxless hybrid ATI/Intel GPU systems after fglrx upgrade

2013-11-12 Thread Marco Vuano
@naught101:I would suggest using the default intel drivers and mesa version
with the default kernel as well, I think the new drivers should be used with
the new kernel you were using, this is why I recommended them in the first
place.
If you still have this bug with all the packages from the default Ubuntu
repository you can file a new bug on Launchpad.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1249794] Re: nvidia fails to install

2013-11-12 Thread Jürgen
The problem could be solved.

The steps described in various tutorials (remove all existing nvidia-
packages, install headers etc.) didn't help even reinstalling.

I realized that copying my system to a new disk (ssd :-) ) was
uncomplete. After fixing that everything worked again.

I don't now what was missing maybe a an apt-get install build-essential
would have also helped.

There are scattered reports of people with the same problem with various
debian and ubuntu versions that might have the same reason.
