[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1268275] [NEW] Ubuntu 13.10 random screen freeze
Public bug reported: This is a bug report filed immediately after a screen freeze occurred. This bug report was filed as requested in Bug #1184451 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1184451 Other info: Description:Ubuntu 13.10 Release:13.10 Details of problem (as described previously) The symptom is that during normal use (Ubuntu 13.10) the system will lock up. The mouse can still be moved but I can't click on any open applications. The sound services will continue to operate (seemingly in the background). Then I wait for about 10 to 20 seconds and the windows will kind of go nuts (and that's a technical term!) flashing all the windows up seemingly in a random order until it finally shows just the wall paper (background) and then settles down with a crash report. At that point, the system is either completely back to normal, or partially OK (the missing aspect being the menu bars of all open applications - in which case a re-boot is necessary). The system is running a dual Intel CPUs (E2220 - 2.4GHz) with an Nvidia GeForce 7100 graphics card. It's a 64-bit install with 4.7Gb RAM. I have already installed the current nvidia drivers and tried to remove nouveau but that seemed to have already been removed. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 993827] Re: Logitech Wireless keyboard has bad layout on login screen
I am on Debian Wheezy (kernel 3.10-3), and have the same problem with my Logitech Unifying Receiver and a gb keyboard: it remains in us layout after setting the gb layout in /etc/default/keyboard. I found several bug reports for this problem, but no fix. As a workaround, I add this in /etc/kde4/kdm/Xsetup . /etc/default/keyboard /usr/bin/setxkbmap -layout $XKBLAYOUT That works perfectly (of course, the path must be adapted for an other display manager than kdm) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-evdev in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993827 Title: Logitech Wireless keyboard has bad layout on login screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/993827/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1249838] Re: Some characters are scrambled on the screen
I made comment #149 to bug 1098334: I had found a web page that showed the problem clearly. Now I have tried trusty-desktop-i386.iso from Jan 8 and that page and some other pages and a few expiriments with command windows showed no corruptions, at least that I could see. So hopefully the bug is corrected now. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1249838 Title: Some characters are scrambled on the screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1249838/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

You have been subscribed to a public bug: After upgrading LTS kernel and X server from 12.04 to 12.04.03, my external monitor is no longer detected/driven. This worked perfectly under 12.04, and is therefore a major regression impacting common use cases. Does not affect the Display Port to DVI-D connection with the same display. When the Display Port/VGA adapter is plugged in dmesg reports several: [drm:intel_dp_i2c_aux_ch] *ERROR* too many retries, giving up When booting with the VGA adaptor connected, dmesg is flooded with these and the trackpad does not work. I'm an experienced user but new to filing bugs. Feel free to ask for more information. Work arounds: Boot using 12.04 kernel (vmlinuz-3.2.0-54-generic) caveat: VGA works as 1024x768 or 800x600 out of the box but you dont need to know/find/add modlines. or Add the modline manually and enable using xrandr. This is less reliable, only works sometimes in my experience and the external monitor has some weird behaviour - no background and right click on the background appears only the primary display. //copy the modline from HDMI1 (DVI-D label in xrandr) to DP1 (or manually create the modline for your display): xrandr --addmode DP1 1920x1080 //connect the DP to VGA cable, removing the DP to DVI, run: xrandr --output DP1 --above eDP1 --mode 1920x1080 Hardware: MacBook Air 5,2 Mid 2012 Display configuration: Apple Display Port to VGA adaptor Ubuntu version: 12.04.3 with linux-lts-raring xserver-xorg-lts-raring xserver-xorg-video-intel-lts-raring. M Ali, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg-lts-raring REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER Thank you for your understanding. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1268366] [NEW] Fujitsu LB AH532 touchpad not recognized
Public bug reported: The touchpad is recognized only as PS/2 Generic Mouse on Trusty Tahr (12 January 2014), out of the box. This bug is similar to Bug #606238. The driver provided as attachment in Bug #606238 seems to partly work (if installed manually, tested with Ubuntu 12.04). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 896922] Re: Lenovo L520 - psmouse.c: touchpad at isa0060/serio4/input0 lost sync and stops working for seconds
Christopher, I have raised https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1268365 However this bug (896922) was originally created by Matthias after he was told do do so in similar circumstances on https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/773433, a bug which is now marked as Expired. I respect that you want to distinguish specific individual circumstances but this is a severe problem (I have had to restart psmouse twice while writing this) and creating separate unlinked bugs dilutes the impact, and presumably reduces the chances of it being looked at. From a quick google I found also these which look like exactly the same issue: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1165089 (raised 5/4/2013, also marked as Expired) and https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/1198274 (raised 5/7/2013, which you have put a similar comment on) https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/1261133 (raised 15/12/2013, which you have put a similar comment on) Could we perhaps nominate one of these to be the the master issue and mark it with an appropriate severity, and mark the others all as duplicates? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/896922 Title: Lenovo L520 - psmouse.c: touchpad at isa0060/serio4/input0 lost sync and stops working for seconds To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/896922/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1245101] Re: Enabling workspaces breaks shortcut overlay
Here is a similar (same?) bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1243233 I have the same problem. My laptop has a resolution of 1366x768. The shortcuts overlay only appears when workspaces are disabled. But, when using an external monitor with a higher resolution (height), the overlay works even with workspaces enabled. With workspaces enabled, the overlay displays an additional section (related to workspaces, obviously) with 3 shortcuts. This makes the overlay bigger (it almost wouldn't fit a 1366x768 screen). I think the bug is related to this (nothing related to Xorg). The solution should simply be making the overlay smaller (there is a lot of padding). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1245101 Title: Enabling workspaces breaks shortcut overlay To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1245101/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
