[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1155169] Re: Brightness Keys not working after restarting system from Windows 7
Hi Christopher.. Bug still exist in 12.04 after system updated yesterday, same behavior. There is also same behavior with 14.04 daily, I'll do reporting shortly. ** Tags added: apport-collected reproducible single-occurrence trusty ** Description changed: Seems that strange behaviour happen after I start system to Windows 7, then restart my laptop (soft reboot) to Ubuntu. Restart & restart again to Ubuntu not make brightness keys working. The issue solved when I shutdown my laptop (hard reboot) then power on again to Ubuntu. -> brightness keys working again (even on AC powered) I think the issue is: after starting Windows 7, system has to shutdown (hard reboot) before starting Ubuntu. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1278012] [NEW] tearing with vsync enabled
Public bug reported: I get some really bad tearing issues with my i965 card in trusty since xserver-xorg-core update to 2:1.15.0-1ubuntu3 and xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.99.909-0ubuntu2. I first tried downgrading xserver-xorg-video-intel to 2:2.99.907-0ubuntu2, which is still compatibile to xorg 1.15.0. The problem remained. Next I tried downgrading xserver-xorg-core to 2:1.15.0-1ubuntu1. Problem remained. Downgrading xserver-xorg-core to 2:1.14.5-1ubuntu4 and xserver-xorg-video-intel to 2:2.99.907-0ubuntu1, resolved the problem. I expect the problem in the upstream xorg version update, as there is no effective change between xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.99.907-0ubuntu1 and 2.99.907-0ubuntu2. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1181902] Re: Nouveau driver glitch on Ubuntu 13.04 will cause system to freeze under certain conditions
Christopher, I downloaded today's ISO from dev-branch, but it was impossible to complete the command: apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1181902 because I can't even start Ubuntu from graphic mode. When I click on "Preview Ubuntu" (rather than Install) I switched shell (Ctrl + Alt + F2) and noticed the following message: [ 307.xxx.xxx] nouveau e [ PBUS] [:00:0d.0] MMIO write of 0x FAULT at 0x00b010 and then, the system goes laggy as hell... Super slow-mo. Seriously. Back to graphical mode (Ctrl + Alt + F7), moved the mouse and cursor position refreshed after 10 secs. Same thing to keyboard response. Then: System freezes. apport-collect needs response from browser... So, I'm sorry. This bug makes this impossible. Can I attach some other information without using browser or graphical mode with dev-ISO? I really miss Ubuntu in my computer! :( -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1181902 Title: Nouveau driver glitch on Ubuntu 13.04 will cause system to freeze under certain conditions To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-nouveau/+bug/1181902/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1262238] Re: [SRU] Add support for the lts-saucy stack
I've just checked AMD's website, and it seems that they support your card only in their legacy driver which, however, doesn't support new xservers. http://support.amd.com/en- us/download/desktop/legacy?product=Legacy2&os=Linux%20x86_64 That driver should work well with the kernel (Linux 3.2) and xserver (1.11) that come by default in Ubuntu 12.04 (not in the point releases though). If you download the installer from that page, you can then follow these steps: 1) extract the zip archive 2) Open a terminal and get to the directory where the extracted installer is, then type sudo sh name_of_the_installer --buildpkg Ubuntu/precise 3) This will build deb packages for you, which you will be able to install (only the fglrx package and the fglrx-amdcccle packages are useful to you) I hope it helps. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1262238 Title: [SRU] Add support for the lts-saucy stack To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer/+bug/1262238/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Not necessarily, although initially the bug symptoms were rather similar, and it's a similar family of hardware. I'm only now checking the bisection myself, and it seems that that particular commit is not my only problem. > Of course you have the additional problem of having a nva8 (this bug has > nv98 hw users, although that doesn't exclude you from having the same issue > -- the bisected commit was fairly generic), which is still unstable for some > users, but was even more unstable in earlier kernels. Well, that could complicate my ability to fix things here. I suspect that this particular regression is one of several issues on my hardware, then. > As for not seeing a > PAGE_NOT_PRESENT -- are you sure that the kernels in question had code to > emit the error in the first place? The code seems to be present. For instance, I'm trying 3.6, where I see nv50_fb_vm_trap() (drivers/gpu/drm/nouveau/nv50_fb.c) has the same "VM: trapped write at 0x" log message. So I presume that if I was still experiencing the fault in 3.6, it would appear in the log. BTW, I noticed Ben Gamari's earlier comments about mesa versioning, so I downgraded to 9.1.4, and I still experience the same behavior. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/884 Title: 10de:0611 nouveau fails at suspend/resume - PAGE_NOT_PRESENT To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/884/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
