[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1279340] Re: Ubuntu 13.10 Radeon HD 8470D screen flickering and tearing
I seamed to have resolved this issue with a few updates. Here are my steps I used. 1. Opened Software Updates-Updates. I checked the Pre-release updates (saucy-proposed) checkbox. I clicked Close entered my root password and let the update run. 2. Opened Software Updater and allowed it to run. This installed the following: 2014-02-14 08:14:58 upgrade lightdm:amd64 1.8.4-0ubuntu1 1.8.5-0ubuntu1 2014-02-14 08:14:59 upgrade liblightdm-gobject-1-0:amd64 1.8.4-0ubuntu1 1.8.5-0ubuntu1 2014-02-14 08:15:06 upgrade linux-headers-generic:amd64 3.11.0.15.16 3.11.0.17.18 2014-02-14 08:15:07 upgrade linux-libc-dev:amd64 3.11.0-15.25 3.11.0-17.31 3. Rebooted. 4. Opened Software Updates-Additional Drivers. I choose the fglrx-updates(proprietary). Click Apply Changes then restart. 5. Now this is where everything gets sketchy. On the reboot the system crashes just after the Ubuntu 13.10 splash screen and restart. I will stay in this loop until you interrupt Grub. I then choose the oldest Kernel image I have 3.8.0.19.35. 6. Go through a normal boot, login, and I get a black screen with and active cursor. Ctl-Alt-t brings up a console and I roll back the AMD Proprietary Drivers. sudo apt-get remove --purge fglrx* sudo apt-get remove --purge xserver-xorg-video-ati xserver-xorg-video-radeon sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-ati sudo apt-get install --reinstall libgl1-mesa-glx libgl1-mesa-dri xserver-xorg-core sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg sudo shutdown -r now 7. After the reboot, no screen flickering or tearing has been noticed. This may not have been Solved but I would call this a work around. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1279340 Title: Ubuntu 13.10 Radeon HD 8470D screen flickering and tearing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1279340/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1168197] Re: 'USB Keyboard+Smartpad' not detected as touchpad in 'Samsung Ativ Smart PC Pro 700t'
I'm suffering the same problem but not under ubuntu, I have a XE700T1C- A02US which is now running Gentoo. The device is detected as a USB HID mouse during boot, and xinput sees it as USB Keyboard+SmartPad, so none of the psmouse elantech tricks appear to work. No one elsewhere seems to mention the same USB vid/pid combination with regards to linux. I'm running the latest kernel (3.12.2 at the time of writing). Any tests I could run or information I can provide, just let me know, I'm eager to get this problem solved (primarily to turn off tapping). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1168197 Title: 'USB Keyboard+Smartpad' not detected as touchpad in 'Samsung Ativ Smart PC Pro 700t' To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/1168197/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 659793] Re: xserver-xephyr: Couldn't find keyboard driver evdev
Are the --enable-kdrive-mouse and --enable-kdrive-kbd arguments necessary? They seem unrelated to the specific symptomps originally reported, and according to https://bugs.debian.org/cgi- bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=646686#12 they may have issues. From that bug comment: On Wed 2013-03-27T14:20:34+0100 Geert Uytterhoeven ge...@linux-m68k.org wrote: - I did not enable kdrive-kbd, as it's completely broken. Since it no longer fills in KdKeyboardInfo.minScanCode and KdKeyboardInfo.maxScanCode, any keypress causes messages like: driver Linux console keyboard wanted to post scancode x outside of [0, 0]! - kdrive-mouse still works (e.g. -mouse ps2, or -mouse mouse for protocol probing, which takes some time), but the recommended way these days is kbd-evdev, using the following (ugly) command line parameters: -keybd evdev,,device=/dev/input/event0 -mouse evdev,,device=/dev/input/event1 It seems like just adding --enable-kdrive-evdev would be sufficient and safer, no? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/659793 Title: xserver-xephyr: Couldn't find keyboard driver evdev To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/659793/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
