[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1240428] Re: Radeon drivers not loaded properly after upgrading to Saucy
Just in case someone stumbles upon this: I had similar problem (Saucy after upgrade from 13.04) but with Xorg not even trying to load the radeon driver. Solution was to install xserver-xorg-video-ati (ati driver triggered loading of the radeon driver). It still puzzles me why radeon driver wasn't loaded directly, but could have been something I've done in the past... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1240428 Title: Radeon drivers not loaded properly after upgrading to Saucy To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/1240428/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1289049] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in kgem_create_2d()
This will report the failure back to the client for trying to create an OpenGL window for something far beyond its hardware restrictions: commit 78970676e79d462cf99509012db54479ba93c01a Author: Chris Wilson ch...@chris-wilson.co.uk Date: Tue Mar 11 07:33:09 2014 + sna: Be defensive when applying size restrictions to bo The assumption that all paths prevalidate the restrictions upon creation the bo are false. Some important paths try to force the bo creation in order to meet client expectations (e.g. DRI). So we are faced with impossible requests which must fail, so make sure we do report those failures. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1290775] [NEW] X freeze, garbled output, *ERROR* Failed to schedule IB on RV635/M86 (Radeon HD3650) and RV620

Both are running xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:7.2.0-0ubuntu10, neither has installed anything with fglrx nor catalyst in package name. On B (desktop PC), display was occasionaly garbled with small artefacts (like few pixel lines of random dots), and occasionally screen freezes, than goes blank for a second, then works normaly again for some time - but after 3-4 such cycles, display permanently freezes. Restarting lightdm through one of VT consoles helped. Some applications, like firefox, caused these problems to be more frequent. Then, as machine was frequently updated in hope of a fix, this changed, but to worse. Screen went completely garbled, mouse pointer turned to large square full of random noise, but underlying applications were probably running. VT consoles also went garbled and hard to use. Both DVI outputs were affected. On A machine display is mostly blank (though BIOS and GRUP screens are presented OK), sometimes graphical greeter (logon screen) is displayed, sometimes not. Bu in either case machine freezes and no logon is possible. Sometimes SysRq keys are working to reboot can be done, sometimes not. As this machine is equiped with swithchable graphics, when other GPU (Intel, integrated) is used display is presented ok. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1290797] [NEW] longstanding display driver bug elicited by xscreensaver or lightdm or chvt
Public bug reported: i've been hitting this bug since natty or earlier. today, as per usual, the evidence of the bug is that chvt no longer functions normally. in today's case, two instances of xorg had been running, both crashed, xorg would not relaunch (immediately crashed again)(tho no trouble launching Xvnc), after the xorg crashes ctl-alt-F7 shows: The system is running in low-graphics mode, ctl-alt-F8 shows all black, and the clear clue, ctl-alt-F1 shows the text you would expect to see there, but at the same time the mouse cursor is still being displayed and responding to mouse movement as if we were still looking at ctl-alt-F[78]! same for ctl- alt-F[2-6]. when i hit this same bug on other days, the behaviour of ctl-alt-Fn will be peculiar in unique bizarre ways. i tried to submit this bug via ubuntu-bug (in 2 or 3 screen windows, then killed them all, then tried one more time), then zipped up the apport log, the Xorg logs, the single /var/crash/*Xorg* i found, and a process list. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1290797 Title: longstanding display driver bug elicited by xscreensaver or lightdm or chvt To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1290797/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

You have been subscribed to a public bug: Initial state: * hdd had two differend Windows versions installed * hdd had two usable partitions: for swap and for then installation Steps before unexpected event: * downloaded trusty daily server ISO image 2014-03-11 (used another machine) * burned ISO image into DVD (used another machine) * booted system from the installation DVD * OS installation: a few steps in installer * OS installation: formatted usable partiton with ext4 filesystem and chose / for mountpoint * OS installation: selected only openssh-server package to be manually installed * OS installation: installed bootloader into MBR * run apt-get upgrade (if I remember right there were 5 packages that needed to be updated) * run aptitude install xubuntu-desktop During the installation process I noticed the following: display switched into powersaving mode and didn't resume into normal mode dispite pressing any button on keyboard or moving the mouse. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1207378] Re: Screen intermittently goes black
This problem is most definitely caused by faulty hardware. It's either caused by the motherboard, or more likely, the video card. My M6500 has both Windows 7 and Ubuntu 13.10 on it. With the FX2800 card, black screens on boot-up/wake-from-suspend were somewhat frequent, but eventually levelled out after a few reboots, on both Ubuntu and Windows 7. I swapped the FX2800 card with a used FX3800 card and it's *worse*. However, I'm able to use a setting in Xorg to tell the nvidia settings driver to *always* throttle back the power mizer to a lower level, and it works fine in Ubuntu. Windows 7 doesn't have a good way of permenantly setting this, and it goes to the black of death waaay more than it did on the old card. In any case, it's definitely a hardware problem of some kind, and there is a workaround for it, but it's still crap. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-settings in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1207378 Title: Screen intermittently goes black To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-settings/+bug/1207378/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1289410] Re: Xorg freeze
This issue may have been introduced by the 3.13.6 stable update. Can you test the following kernel and see if it also exhibits the bug: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.13.6-trusty/ If it does, we should also confirm that 3.13.5 does not exhibit the bug: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.13.5-trusty/ If that is the case, we can bisect between 3.13.5 and 3.13.6. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1289410 Title: Xorg freeze To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1289410/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

To whom it may concern: I am trying to replace my current VGA embedded video card with a new DVI above board video card. The new card is PCI GeForce 6200 with 512 DDR2 memory. The computer is a Lenovo MT/M 8810-94U. The computer will not completely boot and/or display the card graphics properly on the screen and will not resolve to a simple viewable display. I had downloaded the complete set of Nvidia drivers and installed same but do not know how to install an appropriate video driver while running the old video.
