nope, I must correct myself. Same problem as described by Marco in #70. ok, so i found this temporarly fix. When you are using laptop, first lock your screen and then close lid to sleep mode. After you open lid system will work ok, but notifications area will show: Power Manager not authorized. Compile the driver I install git on Xubuntu 13.10 in one of the attempts to start the system crash xfsettingsd could get a picture on the screen. See the bug #1296449 . I tried it on kubuntu 13.10, installing the driver deb there were no issues. So I think that the problem of the black screen is caused by the XFCE desktop environment. For xrandr -q output, please refer to bug #1296020. nvidia-settings becomes useless now, it can not detect the built-in display and it can not detect any new external display. It can only detect the non-existent CRT-0 (VGA-0). Gnome control center -- Display can detect all displays. (but it fails to rotate external VGA display. not sure if this is another bug or not).
