[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1308105] Re: HDMI Handshake fails after TV powered off
After some more sleuth work with NVIDIA, we've discovered that this is happening because of a RANDR event. An X client is responding to the RANDR events and forcing it to this NULL resolution. I checked what clients were running, and it's xfsettingsd causing this problem. If I kill xfsettingsd prior to turning on/off my TV it comes back at the right resolution. ** Also affects: xfce4-settings (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: xfce4-settings (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Invalid ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers-331 (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Invalid ** Changed in: mythbuntu Status: New = Confirmed ** Changed in: mythbuntu Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Summary changed: - HDMI Handshake fails after TV powered off + Xfce resets TV mode to NULL when power cycled ** Description changed: - I had an HTPC with Mythbuntu 12.04 installed and all included NVIDIA 185 - driver package. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1099115] Re: Can't change brightness while screen is locked
I'm affected too. Basically I'm trying to use physical volume knob of external USB DAC to manipulate the volume of the sound. But since the screen is locked the knob is not working.. till I unlock the screen. The things become even more frustrating when I use the Power settings and set Do nothing option when you close the lid of the laptop. However when I close the lid what's happen is lock the screen (it turns it off, which is OK) but it also disables the external control. It would be great if sound control is allowed while the screen is locked and also some of the FN+key controls. P.S. Let me know if there is known workaround (like adding some udev rule, permission or configuration). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1099115 Title: Can't change brightness while screen is locked To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1099115/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1308787] [NEW] The orange frame that indicates a resized window isn't going away
Public bug reported: You know when you move a window towards the edge of the screen and Unity decides to maximize it, and highlights it with an orange frame and shadow to let you know that it's messing with you? This time the frame didn't go away when I pulled the window away from the edge. I know about sticky edges and that toggle has no effect on this behavior. But the general behavior isn't what this bug is about. It's that it looks like I'm going to have to log out to fix this. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1308319] [NEW] AMD Radeon HD 7340 [1002:9808] Unable to adjust brightness with fglrx-updates
You have been subscribed to a public bug: CID: 201206-11156 HP Pavilion 20 AIO There is a scroll bar in Brightness and Lock applet, screen brightness on this AIO could be adjusted with the open source driver, but not with the proprietary fglrx-updates driver. Steps: 1. Install 12.04.4, and the fglrx-updates proprietary driver 2. Boot to desktop, try to adjust brightness in Brightness and Lock applet Expected result: * Brightness can't be adjusted on this system or * Brightness control works fine Actual result: * There is a scroll bar in Brightness and Lock applet, when you try to adjust it, you could scroll it freely but nothing happens. The open-source driver would suffer from bug 1243621 I'm not sure if a brightness control issue should be considered as a blocker on AIO, but I will still add those tags.
