[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1309969] Re: Garbled display on 14.04 with ATI Radeon HD 7750
Hi how to I'm also experiencig this problem. Was your installation an upgrade or a fresh install? I experienced the same problem on an upgrade but after a fresh install I could log on, but the card now cuts out after a few minutes/secs. I've tried the fglrx driver but experience the cut out issue. When I get 5mins I'll install the linux non-free firmware and the fglrx updates. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1312834] [NEW] Mouse pointer won't move with two fingers on trackpad
Public bug reported: Hello, The mouse pointer does not move when I have two fingers on the touchpad. I am using a mac-like touchpad, produced by dell. The model is the Dell Inspiron 15 7000. The way I usually use my touchpad is that I use my middle finger on my right hand to move the pointer, and the middle finger on my left hand to activate the left and right click buttons. I also have taken advantage of the AreaBottomEdge parameter as shown below. What happens is that I usually have my middle finger or thumb on my left hand resting on the left click button. Since this new laptop though, I seem not to be able to do this. If I have a finger (either thumb or middle finger) resting on the left click button, and then go to use my middle finger on my right hand to move the pointer, it will not move. What I have to do, for example when trying to do a drag and drop operation, is make sure to have no fingers resting on the touchpad before attempting to move the pointer. I must then use my left hand to press down on the left click button, and then only at that point can I use my right hand to manipulate the position of the pointer. What I would think the intended functionality should be is that any and all finger motion outside of the active touch area should be completely dis-regarded, with the exception of physical click events (no taps). This would almost certainly alleviate the issue at hand. What additional information can I provide to make this easier to debug and solve? See my included stats below: lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Release:14.04 uname -r 3.13.0-24-generic dpkg -l | grep synaptics ii xserver-xorg-input-synaptics 1.7.4-0ubuntu1 amd64 cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-synaptics.conf # Example xorg.conf.d snippet that assigns the touchpad driver # to all touchpads. I have a samsung series 9 (900X the old model) and also suffer from the issue. The problem is related to the suspend since I can reproduce it by closing the lid or by suspending via the top right menu. Additionally, the workaround described here of disable the lock on suspend stuff doesn't work for me, neither the one of locking beforeclosing the lid. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1283938 Title: Ubuntu 14.04 blank screen after wakeup from sleep To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/1283938/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1312996] [NEW] Lenovo X220, hard freeze after pluggin in external monitor through Display Port
Public bug reported: This didn't happen in 13.10, and incidentally it worked for a few days with 14.04. It is a hard freeze and I'm forzed to shut down the computer through the power button. I tried if a fresh system would make it work, so I booted a live DVD and reproduced the problem. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1313002] [NEW] tty Terminal Black Screen Of Death
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Edition Xorg Version 1:7.7+1ubuntu8 While using the tty 2 terminal (Ctrl + Alt + F2), I started an apt-get process to install a few packages. While the system was working the screen went black after 5 minuites (Like it is ment to), however when a key was pressed to wake up the computer, there was a breif flash then nothing. Luckaly it was still downloading and I was able to stop it (Using ^C) and type sudo reboot. The system rebooted without a problem. I expected the X display to restart like it is supposed to. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1268275] Re: 10de:07e1 [HP Pavilion p6020jp Desktop PC] Ubuntu 13.10 random screen freeze
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: This is a bug report filed immediately after a screen freeze occurred. The symptom is that during normal use the system will lock up. The mouse can still be moved but I can't click on any open applications. The sound services will continue to operate (seemingly in the background). Then I wait for about 10 to 20 seconds and the windows will flash seemingly in a random order until it finally shows just the wall paper (background) and then settles down with a crash report. At that point, the system is either completely back to normal, or partially OK (the missing aspect being the menu bars of all open applications - in which case a re-boot is necessary). I have already installed the current nvidia drivers and tried to remove nouveau but that seemed to have already been removed. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1268275] Re: 10de:07e1 [HP Pavilion p6020jp Desktop PC] Ubuntu 13.10 random screen freeze
Hi there The system crashed just now and I was able to capture the crash logs and upload. I see the request for me to run 12.04 on this machine. Is it sufficient for me to run off USB rather than implementing a full install (and replacing my current version)? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1275398] Re: i945: GL clients are rendered as black or transparent windows when using i945 graphics
I think I can eliminate the possibility that the texture binding is failing. Using direct bypass rendering (egltriangle -f) still has the same bug. So it's not a server-side GL compositing issue. Seems like a fundamental failure in the GBM/GEM/PRIME/DMAbuf stuff. Something the i915 driver doesn't do right... I noticed some comments in Wayland along the same lines, where Wayland too has a black buffer problem on i915: http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/wayland-devel/2013-October/011593.html So on the plus side, the old PentiumD can run mir_demo_server_shell at 1920x1200 with super-smooth 60 FPS. On the down side, only software clients are usable :( ** Also affects: mesa (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Summary changed: - i945: GL clients are rendered as black or transparent windows when using i945 graphics + i945: Mir GL clients are rendered as black or transparent windows when using i945 graphics ** Description changed: Running Mir on a Pentium D system with integrated i945 graphics, appears to work at first.
