[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1247668]
Created attachment 98637 Works for me, probably not the proper solution though Here's a workaround patch that I've been using successfully for a while. Upon loading a new keymap, Xkb does something with the locks. I'm not sure what it is and why it would do so. I just commented out that part and it works great for me. There might be side effects unbeknownst to me. Apparently various manufacturers create keyboards that change the keycode of the numpad keys to their non-numpad equivalents when NumLock is off. Crazy, I know. This is an issue Xkb developers should be aware of. The current behavior on layout change is still not reasonable at all, it's a bug somewhere in Xkb, triggered by such keyboards. Nevertheless, this bug should be fixed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1247668 Title: NumLock turned off on layout switch To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xorg-server/+bug/1247668/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1318174] [NEW] Non-executable startup script breaks / slows down system
Public bug reported: I added a shell script to execute at startup under System Settings - Start Exit (not sure if these are the exact words in English), but forgot to mark it executable. The next time I booted the system, Kubuntu apprently tries to open the script file with Kate (the window bar showed the a loading Kate tab for a few seconds). However, Kate did not open. After that, the whole system became incredibly slow. For example, the K menu took about 30 seconds to pop up. Clicking on any program (Dolphin, Terminal, etc.) shows a loading tab in the window bar again, but the actual program window does not open. I used Ctrl+Alt+F1 to go to a terminal and set the +x flag on the script file. After rebooting, the problem was gone. I'm not sure if this is a bug, but I guess a script that cannot be executed should not break / slow down the entire system like that. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 8177] Re: vbetool should subsume ddcprobe, use x86emu
How is this solved? Im guessing the workaround is using EDID to fetch display info Im trying to use DDC/CI to query/control my monitor and ddcprobe seems to be one way to do it but the only thing i get is VESA BIOS Extensions not detected. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to a duplicate bug report (34298). https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/8177 Title: vbetool should subsume ddcprobe, use x86emu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vbetool/+bug/8177/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1318249] [NEW] Failure to resume from hybrid suspend
Public bug reported: I followed http://askubuntu.com/questions/145443/how-do-i-use-pm- suspend-hybrid-by-default-instead-of-pm-suspend/145676#145676 to set up hybrid suspend, creating the file /etc/pm/config.d/00-use-suspend-hybrid with the following contents: -- snip --- HIBERNATE_MODE=platform # Always use hibernate instead of suspend, but with suspend to both if [ $METHOD = suspend ]; then METHOD=hibernate HIBERNATE_MODE=suspend fi # Make sure to use the kernel's method, in case uswsusp is installed etc. SLEEP_MODULE=kernel -- snip -- On suspend, the system writes an image to disk (according to /var/log/syslog) and goes to sleep on RAM as expected. However, on resume things first seem to proceed normally, but the screen is never lit up. I couldn't find any obvious errors in /var/log/syslog. The behaviour is similar with the Indirect hybrid sleep approach, which used to work successfully before upgrading from 13.10 to 14.04. Both suspend-to-RAM and suspend-to-disk (hibernate) work and resume sucessfully, i.e. when removing the file /etc/pm/config.d/00-use- suspend-hybrid.
