[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1186800] Re: [830 v3.7 regression] Video goes blank and system hangs (using an old kernel fix it)

2014-05-11 Thread Rens de Groot
I am running peppermint 4 on an IBM Thinkpad X30 which has the Intel
82830M/MG graphics controller and I had the same problem of frequent
black screens and hang ups. The workaround that Federico mentioned also
worked for me. The way I implemented it was:

changing/making the xorg.conf by

sudo nano /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/xorg.conf

and adding:

Section Device
Identifier Intel Graphics
Driver intel
Option AccelMethod uxa
EndSection

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1283938] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 blank screen after wakeup from sleep

2014-05-11 Thread TEN
imnichol, it's the linux in Ubuntu Trusty (kernel) package against
which this isn't filed yet (as Launchpad does not seem to offer any
straightforward way), but should be (and fixed again) under it since
it's been a regression against previous ones as well.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1318406] [NEW] SystemSettings doesn't enable nouveau but says it does

2014-05-11 Thread semitones
Public bug reported:

This is a system that has been upgraded to new versions of ubuntu many
times. Recently I switched display drivers to nouveau from nvidia-331.

Upon rebooting, I'm stuck in 640x480. SystemSettings says I'm using
nouveau, but actually, I'm using VESA. This is because there are some
leftover files in modprobe.d/ that are blacklisting nouveau.

I think systemsettings should probably check if nouveau is in use before
saying it is, and remove blacklists against nouveau when it is
installing it!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1318422] [NEW] Login + Virtualbox

2014-05-11 Thread Thiago
Public bug reported:

Not sure if matter. You can delete this if is not related.
Expected: login interface is blocking all access to the system
Whats happen: Login give access to the virtualbox

how to replicate:

- Use virtualbox in steamless mode
- Cursor focus on the VM
- close the laptop to sleep
- Open the latptop to wake it up
- The keyboard on the login is locked and when you type you are actually typing
on the VM, givin full acess to the VM inclusing the shared folders by the
keyboard

workaround
- Using the mouse we can click in the option switch user on the top of login
screen and with this even using the same user we can login as expected.

thanks. As a mention I'm not sure if is related. I just trying to help
in somehow.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1013881]

2014-05-11 Thread Swâmi Petaramesh
About a short nbsp in french, let's make it perfectly clear that there
must be about a hundred professionnal typographists in the whole country
who care about it - most of them not using Linux BTW - and the rest of
the ~40 million computer users here don't give a shit about a short
nbsp and don't even know what it is, feel perfectly happy with the
correct french they write without it, and many of them just would like
their fscking right [Ctrl] key back.

If a so thin minority of professional typographists that in no way
represent the average french Joe user want this modifier, it's
perfectly OK that they devise their own special layout for their on
needs, but by no means impose it on the rest of us.
