[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1283938] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 blank screen after wakeup from sleep

same problem with Dell Studio 1735 with Intel Corporation Mobile
GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (primary) [8086:2a02] (rev
03). I presumed it was a by-product of trying to upgrade but have now
reinstalled from scratch and the problem is still there.

A serious problem.

Dell's Inspiron 1525 with a fresh 14.04 install is also affected. Shame
cause 12.04 had no problems in this regard.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1325368] Re: 1st timw running a bug report

2014-06-01 Thread Daniel Letzeisen
You don't have an nvidia graphics card, so the nvidia kernel module is
not going to load and the nvidia control panel will not run. That is
expected... You're also running 3rd party (xorg-edgers?) X components.
For those reasons, this bug report is not valid.

To make a more effective bug report, please file your bug report using
standard components when the problem occurs.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1283938] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 blank screen after wakeup from sleep

2014-06-01 Thread Jeff Wayne
Experienced this problem on a Lenovo Y530 and an Acer Aspire 8943G-9319
after upgrade to 14.04. I am using XFCE flavor of Xubuntu on both. To
resolve this problem I disabled Light Locker on both and let XFCE
lockscreen take care of the screen locking tasks.

No more black screen after opening lid and logging in.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1325400] [NEW] nvidia-304 304.117-0ubuntu1: nvidia-304 kernel module failed to build

2014-06-01 Thread GGBerry
Public bug reported:

I have an HP Envy 15j which caused me issues from day one with audio,
video and wifi.

I was following instruction form a post in ubuntu forums to install kernel
3.14, which is supposed to help with the wifi issue (slow, unstable
connection). My video and audio issues were fixed already.
At reboot, I got a popup for a system error, for which that report is.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1303739] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad T520] Casual screen freeze in Xubuntu 14.04

2014-06-01 Thread Kevin Nadaud
Hi,

I have the same freeze on a clevo W655 with a Intel graphic card (With
Xubuntu 14.04). So I don't think that's only NVidia driver which cause
the bug.

When the laptop freeze, i can stop the freeze by log out and log in with
Ctrl+Alt+Del.

Regards

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1263249] Re: [Samsung NP300E5Z-S07HU] Keyboard stops working after Ctrl+Shift+U followed by 7 alphanumeric keys

2014-06-01 Thread Egmont Koblinger
The bug is still present in Trusty.

I've installed a Fedora 20, and it's working correctly there. Note that
Ctrl+Shift+U works in xterm under Ubuntu, but does nothing in xterm
under Fedora. This means that probably something is done substantially
differenty in the two distros. I have a feeling that this keycombo is
handled by Gtk+ in Fedora, but Ubuntu somehow made it more generic and
patched it to X.Org – is this possible?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1263249] Re: [Input methods] Keyboard stops working after Ctrl+Shift+U followed by 7 alphanumeric keys

2014-06-01 Thread Egmont Koblinger
Gtk+ apps: Reproducible with GTK_IM_MODULE=ibus and with
GTK_IM_MODULE=xim. Not reproducible if GTK_IM_MODULE is unset before
launching a Gtk+ app [I guess Ctrl+Shift+U is handled by Gtk+ in this
case, rather than the X Input Method].

xterm: Reproducible with the default XMODIFIERS=@im=ibus, not
reproducible after unsetting this variable [in this case Ctrl+Shift+U
has no special effect].

Really looks that the bug resides in X Input Methods.

** Summary changed:

- [Samsung NP300E5Z-S07HU] Keyboard stops working after Ctrl+Shift+U followed

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1309919] Re: Xorg causing 100% cpu load

2014-06-01 Thread Brian Knoll
Just a note that I am seeing this problem as well, here on an AMD 8350
8-core system using Trusty 14.04 AMD64. The Xorg process takes about
20%-35% of one core, when the system is otherwise idle. I'm open to
suggestions regarding how I can dig deeper to determine the cause,
because obviously killing the Xorg process isn't an option (or I
wouldn't be running it in the first place). As an experiment, to see if
it would help to restart X, I did try killing the process then logging
back in with the new Xorg process, but the CPU usage was the same as it
was before.

Any suggestions are welcome, and I am willing to help debug this.

Thanks,
Brian

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1267650] Re: fglrx causes segmentation fault on boot

2014-06-01 Thread G
Can confirm bug still exists in 14.6 on Ubuntu Trusty (clean install).

I've monitored this for a while and tried to find solutions but there is
nothing I can find to help resolve it. Personally I have an Acer 8943G
with HD 5850 gfx. From what I have seen/people posted, what is common
to the bug is this (please post if you don't have this setup!):

Acer laptop
AMD Mobility HD 5*** chip

Acer do something 'special' with the graphics chips on their laptops, it was a
pain setting up video on a hackintosh on my last two, and I think this is
related to the issue we have, which requires AMD to come up with some
workaround unfortunately. Posting my xorg.log too to confirm it is this
problem with 'failed to open a CMMQS connection'.

Would encourage people to fill out the response here to make AMD aware
of the issue: http://www.amdsurveys.com/se.ashx?s=5A1E27D23CFE9B36

This is the thread on the unofficial bug reporting forum which AMD
supposedly monitor, but the bug is still outstanding 1 year on, and I am
keen to help resolve it, although it may require a couple of Acer
systems to view and compare the issues.
