[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1308954] Re: AMDRadeon HD 8670A/8670M/8690M [1002:6660] System freezes after resume from suspend with fglrx-updates

2014-07-14 Thread Gilles Gigan
Same problem here with HP laptop with AMD graphics. This workaround solves the
problem for me: change to terminal 1 before suspend, and back to terminal 7
after resume.
Place attached script in /etc/pm/sleep.d/ and sudo chmod +x
/etc/pm/sleep.d/20_fix_fglrx_freeze_on_resume

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1341167] Re: freezes while draging a window from a workspace

2014-07-14 Thread Mina
I though about it but I don't really think it's related to some package
(other than those defaults responsible for display or something like
that.)

...I can try to explain more;

It's not that the computer hangs because of RAM or because of heavy
processor duty. It's kind of a glitch. When it happens, the processor
lamp isn't busy (isn't flickering quickly, but instead just flickers
once in about 5 seconds). Actually the bug can happen with just Google
Chrome open. It can even happen without expo mode. The mouse can move
freely but Ubuntu doesn't comply to its commands. Sometimes, when the
bug happens, the mouse has the shape of the closed fist and the shape
wouldn't go back to normal. (the closed fist is the mouse shape you get
when you drag any window anywhere).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1323006] Re: touchpad too sensitive. focus jumps all over document on text input

2014-07-14 Thread Maarten Lankhorst
Hm looking some more, gnome-settings-daemon runs syndaemon with -t which
is 'disable tapping and scrolling'.

The moving the mouse is still allowed in that case, hardware buttons
too. But scrolling and using tap to click shouldn't be.

Keys used with modifiers are ignored by syndaemon too, it's passed by
gnome-settings-daemon.

Is this what you're experiencing?

Also sarvatt notes that using the same key repeatedly disables things
for a second, then enables it for a second, then disables etc etc.

In the exactly same situation, the bug has just happened again running 12.10
lts Precise Pangoloin (with hard shutdown and reboot needs).
Running 14.10 Utopic Unicorn the bug affected the entire whole system, even
after rebooting. The desktop screen was empty without launcher nor top bar, any
command avilable neither. I reinstalled 12.10 from a live usb stick (during
that, a warning message allerted me about a problem to install Ubuntu
Desktop), upgrading it to 14.04 lts Trusty Tahr, but a system loss of pw
coerced me to a new reinstallation of 12.10, and by now i don't think to
upgrade it...

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1341916] [NEW] Mythbuntu/Ubuntu 14.04 install nomodeset hangs kernel

2014-07-14 Thread Sean Mahrt
Public bug reported:

fresh install on Q35 intel (amd64) motherboard hangs with launch of
intel Xorg.

Mythbuntu/Ubuntu 14.04 iso boots are identical. Setting nomodeset
causes no improvement (nor does acpi tags).

A mini.iso install of 14.04 works fine with no extra kernel parameters.

After installation, tasksel to install mythbuntu frontend completes
successfully. Rebooting exhibits identical behavior when Xorg tries to
launch.

If I put in nomodeset, X launches OK, but I'm stuck at 800x600.

10.04 works fine.

Attached is 10.04 dmesg and xorg log.

Also is 14.04 nomodeset bootable.

Let me know what else you want me to poke at, I've got it set up so I
can take it down in pockets when it's not scheduled to record.

** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu)
