2014-07-15 Thread iKozzz
Ubuntu 14.04

System Settings/Keyboard/Shortcuts/Sound and Media

1. At first Audio play worked well on Play (or play/pause) command
2. Then i changed it to different combination
3. Then i decided to switch back to default Audio play key.

Actual: Key is recognized as Audio play but has no effect even after
reboot.

Ok so the bug seems to be that syndaemon -R doesn't work correctly,
sometimes not finding keys if you're unlucky. I'm pushing out a updated
xserver-xorg-input-synaptics to fix this. Can you reopen the bug if this
fails to fix this issue?

Don't do that.

Read here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection
If you can follow those Ubuntu-specific instructions, that will narrow down the
problem.

If you can't follow those instructions, have you filed a Launchpad bug?
If so, please post the link or bug # (double-check that it's a public
bug or say it's private).

The problem is already bisected. The commit that introduces the
regression switches nv50 to use nvc0's disp implementation. The commit
is basically deleting all the nv50 code and changing a few function
pointers to use the nvc0 implementation. I tried pin pointing what the
problem was (see comment 34) but I was not able to fix the problem.

I saw Ben Gamari's bisection log (from 3.7-3.8), but I didn't realize
that you had duplicated the bisection; I only saw your bump 4 months

HW is not identical. I have a Dell XPS 1330 with 8400M GS (10de:0427)

I originially reported my problem in bug 62835. After bisection I
found this issue with the same offending commit and identical symptom.

I appreciate the form letter for the report. :S

I attempted to run this on 10.04 and I get the following error: The
requested URL /+request-token was not found on this server

My guess is lucid is locked out due to lack of support... I can run
this on the 14.04 text based install, but that's not going to show you
the difference. What do you want me to do? I know when I looked at
upgrading this a year ago, there was still some problems with intel and
HDA audio, so I just figued I'd wait for the next LTS release.

Let me know what you want for logs, as this is a show stopper from a
released installer on this hardware.

2014-07-15 Thread Sean Mahrt
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected trusty

** Description changed:

fresh install on Q35 intel (amd64) motherboard hangs with launch of
  intel Xorg.

Mythbuntu/Ubuntu 14.04 iso boots are identical. Setting nomodeset
causes no improvement (nor does acpi tags).

A mini.iso install of 14.04 works fine with no extra kernel parameters.

After installation, tasksel to install mythbuntu frontend completes
successfully. Rebooting exhibits identical behavior when Xorg tries to
  launch.

If I put in nomodeset, X launches OK, but I'm stuck at 800x600.

  10.04 works fine.

Attached is 10.04 dmesg and xorg log.

  Also is 14.04 nomodeset bootable.

- Let me know what else you want me to poke at, I've got it set up so I
- can take it down in pockets when it's not scheduled to record.
