[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1325661] Re: second monitor problems

2014-07-16 Thread Maarten Lankhorst
It would be more useful to get some logs with the device already
connected, but I'm seeing in the logs:

[5.126206] [Firmware Bug]: Duplicate ACPI video bus devices for the
same VGA controller, please try module parameter
video.allow_duplicates=1if the current driver doesn't work.

Maybe try booting with video.allow_duplicates=1 added to the kernel
command line?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1308105] Re: Xfce resets TV mode to NULL when power cycled

2014-07-16 Thread nick_s
This also affects me on Mythbuntu 14.04 x86 64bit with the open radeon driver
and ATI RS880 [Radeon HD 4250] graphics controller.
The workaround for me was to disable xfsettingsd in the GUI Settings under
Session and Startup:
1) In the Application Autostart tab I unticked xfsettingsd.
2) In the Session tab I selected xfsettingsd and clicked Quit Program.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1342675] [NEW] Random characters in screen text suddenly disappear

2014-07-16 Thread Ashraf Amayreh
Public bug reported:

While using my machine, characters suddenly disappear. No character in
particular, not in any single application in particular, and copying and
pasting the text preserves the characters.

Scrolling the text out of view and back into view doesn't affect the
missing characters. Switching between applications may change the
affected characters (possibly due to a redraw operation?)

Restarting often solves the problem, but it comes back after a couple of
hours working. I've attached a screenshot to show you the problem.

I do believe this is different than the bug relating to garbled characters in a
number of ways
1. I don't ever get garbled characters
2. Scrolling out/in of the affected text doesn't re-show the missing
characters, even navigating inside the application has no effect. 3. It's
global, I can even see it on Desktop icon names

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1342663] Re: a big bug

2014-07-16 Thread Phillip Sz
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1342774] [NEW] xorg segfault on suspend/wake (not allways)

2014-07-16 Thread Picek
Public bug reported:

sometimes I face Xorg segfault on wake up from suspend/hibernation. I use this:
http://askubuntu.com/a/387676/293492 workaraound and it works in 90% of cases.
I also use radeon propertiary driver fglrx ( version 13.35.5). I may be wrong
but I suspect that thos bug occurs when suspend is triggered by closing the
laptop lid - when I use suspend button or pm-suspend command everything works
fine.
I`m using ubuntu 14.04, xorg version is 1:7.7+1ubuntu8

to reproduce:
change power management close lid behaviour to suspend

close lid

open lid

Xserver does not restore correctly (blank screen). you can change
session to tty1-6 and log in. Killing xorg restores systems
functionality. if no action is made bu user after about 30 seconds X
server resets automatically rastoring systems functionality

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1032299] Re: REGRESSION: Display does not wake after suspend on E6500

2014-07-16 Thread =JeffH
I recently upgraded to 12.04.4 on my Dell E6500 (on which I had
10.04.4 running quite smoothly for years) and this bug has bitten me and
so far none of the resolutions I've found tried via various forums has
worked to resolve it. I am quite sad. :(
