2014-09-05 Thread Vaclav Cermak
BIOS update didn't help. I worked with Blender, and it freezed. I
switched to terminal (sometimes it freezes whole computer, this was not
this case) and killed X server manually. In X log is the same error as
before.

Here is output from desired command:

BAP6710H.86A.0079.2012.0622.1722
06/22/2012

and Xorg log is attached.

Christopher, thank you for the suggestion.

I have tested today's 14.10 both on a virtual machine and using a Live

Sadly, neither one worked.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1365336] Re: Lightdm update=No desktop

2014-09-05 Thread Laércio de Sousa
@robert-ancell I believe not, but I'm not sure. This udev rule I propose
is a derivative of other ideas proposed by Ubuntu Multiseat team
members.

When that master-of-seat concept was introduced in systemd, Lennart
Poettering suggested that a suitable udev rule should be included in
upstream NIVDIA proprietary driver. Right now we could include it in
downstream nvidia-graphics-drivers Ubuntu packages (and even requesting
its inclusion in Debian packages). At a second moment we could submit it
to upstream.

to install a file named

/usr/lib/udev/rules.d/71-seat-nvidia.rules

with the sixth alternative proposed above:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1365695] Re: No longer able to use GUI after update

2014-09-05 Thread Stephen Weinberg
I am getting the same error since the update yesterday of ubuntu-
drivers-common on my Thinkpad T530. I have a dock with 2 DVI, 1 VGA
monitor hooked up. I also have one monitor hooked up via a display-port
to hdmi cable coming from the laptop itself. It is the dock based VGA
monitor that failed to be recognized.

Downgrading to ubuntu-drivers-common 0.2.91.5 fixed the problem.

See also: http://askubuntu.com/questions/519927/nvidia-driver-not-
working-after-upgrade

If any devs would like more information, feel free to ask. Provide
cmd/filename for me to upload.

Slight correction. I have a W530, not a T530. It is also an Nvidia

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1280642] Re: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#1 stuck for 22s! [kswapd0:31]

2014-09-05 Thread Derrell Durrett
I am currently affected by this bug. I would like to help, but it's not
at all obvious to me what tools I would use to investigate this. I am an
experienced software developer, just not in the kernel, nor in the
kernel's debugging tools/process. I am subscribed to emails for this
bug, and would gladly do anything helpful to solve this as it impacts my
development.

Thanks,

Derrell

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1365362] Re: 10de:1080 [Intel DP67DE] Xorg Backtracing

2014-09-05 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Vaclav Cermak, could you please be more specific when you state, Live
uses Nouveau, which is useless in current state (surely for Blender).?

One should be able to install the nvidia drivers in the live environment, log
out, and log back in and it would begin to use it. One may verify it's being
used via:
lspci -vvnn

and look for nvidia for the VGA entry.

Try changing the resolution to 1034 by 768 at 60 Hz in Nvidia Xserver
