[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1382845] Re: Mouse buttons are ignored
I am also experiencing this since 2 days ago on my tests. I also face the same problem with the background window receiving the clicks and the front windows caring less about them. At first I thought it was the mouse (logitech anywhere) so I changed batteries. I could move the cursor but no clicks. I even disassembled the mouse. Nothing. I then used another logitech. Same problem. It was not until I went back to 14.04 or tested on my neighbor's computer that I saw the problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1382845 Title: Mouse buttons are ignored To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1382845/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Are there any fixes/workarounds regarding this issue? This happens 5-6 times a day everyday and restarting is the only way to be able to use my computer. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1383034] [NEW] DisplayPort no longer works on Lenovo x220 after upgrade to 14.04
Public bug reported: This is a regression that appeared when upgrading from 13.10 to 14.04. The issue had appeared briefly before (IIRC on 13.04). However, I can no longer find the bug report filed at the time. On 13.10, my Eizo monitor worked fine when connected via DisplayPort to my Lenovo X220. Since upgrading to 14.04, it simply shows a blank black display. This crashes the monitor, which has to be power cycled for any of the buttons or the VGA port to work again. VGA works, and the monitor does work during boot when connected via DP. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1217585]
I applied that patch to Ubuntu Trusty 3.13.0-38.65, and it gives a huge improvement. X no longer crashes on startup, and 3D acceleration works. However I also get the glitchy noise a few times a second, except when showing a static image. It is all over the screen, and sometimes appears as triangles. Running glxgears and Firefox at the same time also starts giving errors in the kernel log pretty quickly. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1217585 Title: System hangs after some time with nouveau and GT240 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nouveau/+bug/1217585/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1358936] Re: [gm45] L-shaped memory with invalid swizzling
I have managed to find a more suitable fix, one which could easily be implemented for other systems using this graphics chip or similar. The Intel X4500 graphics chip does not have dedicated memory for graphics and thus relies on the system memory. From my testing it would appear that Ubuntu by default does not allocate any permanent memory for this graphics chip and thus when a user depletes the the system memory, graphics card suffers as well, hence the graphics distortion. The logical fix for this is to allot permanent memory for the graphics chip and have the rest available to the OS. This is done by editing grub: sudo gedit /etc/default/grub and reducing the amount of ram available to the system. I have 3 GB RAM and the x4500 is said to use up to 384, so 3000-384 = 2616 therefore we place the following line in grub using gedit: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=mem=2616 When we are done we type sudo update-grub in the terminal. Restart and the problem does not occur anymore. By limiting the OS to 2616mb ram we are ensuring that it does not tamper with the RAM we have dedicated to the graphics chip. This not not only fixes the graphics distortion issues but also appears to improve performance of the OS overall. Before this implementation I would have to log out once every half hour or less and sometimes restart. With this implementation I have had this pc running for 3 days non stop with out issues.
