Hi,
I just wanted to mention that I could upgrade the HWE on 12.04 using the
"post-release" AMD driver.
Thanks a lot, best regards,

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1374929] Re: Rebooting after installation of Nvidia , system doesn't go directly X-window mode

2014-10-24 Thread Jung-Kyu Park
I saw that message in Ubuntu MATE 14.10 , Kubuntu 14.10 also, from there tty1
mode
Although they start the system successfully , but in the tty1 mode by manual;
ctrl + alt+f1,f2
Now with the version Ubuntu 14.10 stable doesn't occur this symptom ,but also ,
I can see this message in the tty1 mode by manual
as it did in Ubuntu MATE and Kubuntu 14.10 too.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1385336] [NEW] Touchpad detected as mouse after upgrade to 14.10

2014-10-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

On my ThinkPad Carbon X1 (2014), after upgrade from Ubuntu Gnome 14.04
to 14.10, the trackpad no longer supports advanced functions such as
two-finger scroll. In the "Mouse and Touchpad" control panel, there is
no "Touchpad" section. The touchpad previously worked in Ubuntu Gnome
14.04.

/var/log/Xorg.0.log has this line:
Using input driver 'evdev' for 'PS/2 Synaptics TouchPad'

synclient -l reports:
Couldn't find synaptics properties. No synaptics driver loaded?

sudo tpconfig -i reports:
Found Synaptics Touchpad.
Firmware: 8.96 (multiple-byte mode).
Sensor type: unknown (0).
Geometry: rectangular/landscape/up.
Packets: absolute, 80 packets per second.
Corner taps disabled; no tap gestures.
Edge motion: none.
Z threshold: 6 of 7.
2 button mode; corner tap is right button click.

I have tried three different kernels:
3.13.0-37-generic
3.16.0-23-generic
3.18.0-031800rc1-generic (from upstream builds).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1385369] [NEW] After Upgrade to 14.10 Unity No Longer Loads

2014-10-24 Thread Nicholas Travalini
Public bug reported:

Laptop is an Acer Aspire V5-552PG-X809. AMD A10-5757M Processor with
Dual Graphics (Radeon HD 8560M embedded, and Radeon 8750M dedicated).
FGLRX driver was working fantastically prior to upgrade to Ubuntu 14.10.
After upgrade, after login to desktop Unity will not fully load (desktop
loads, but Dash and unity side bar does not). FGLRXINFO reports no
devices found.

I have tried the FGLRX, FGLRX-UPDATES, and the latest driver straight
from AMD, none of them have worked for me.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 940924] Re: Keyboard Layout "German (qwerty)" missing since 12.04

2014-10-24 Thread Robin Gauß
This bug is not making ubuntu unusable by German keyboard users. I use
one myself. The layout that got removed swaps the y and z key. The
standard keyboard layout for Germany is qwertz. A user can now only use
this layout as the qwerty layout got removed.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1314213] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad X220] External DP1 monitor extremely unstable since upgrade to 14.04

2014-10-24 Thread harrychillboy
This happens often when my laptop even with power supply left alone for
a while for the screens to get turn off. When I log back -in or press a
key to get to login screen, the second monitor never turns on. I have to
unplug and plug the monitor DVI cable to get the monitor to show the
screen.

I have verified that Ubuntu 14.04 thinks that both the monitors are on
even when just my laptop screen it working and external monitor is all
blank ( no signal ). This is happening on my lenovo x1 carbon which has
intel hd4000 graphics.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1385182] [NEW] no panel/dash after login following a Ubuntu 14.10 installation

2014-10-24 Thread pnael
Public bug reported:

The hardware is a laptop HP Pavilion dm1 that has been running Ubuntu for years.
I tried to upgrade to 14.10 (I had the fglrx driver at that time). The upgrade
went smooothly but when I came back to the login script. I logged in and no
unity panel/dash

I then reinstalled from scracth to 14.10. So now it is installed with the free
driver but I get exactly the same error.

If I go to CTRL+ALT+F1 I can run any application after exporting my display.

14.04 was working perfectly.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 941826] Re: dlopen(libGL.so) resolves to mesa rather than nvidia

2014-10-24 Thread Jörn Schönyan
barcc, that second approach won't work.

import ctypes
from ctypes import util
ctypes.CDLL(util.find_library('GL'), ctypes.RTLD_GLOBAL)

That should be better, but I can't reproduce the bug myself, likely
because it's an Optimus notebook.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1385089] [NEW] keyboard sometimes doesn't respond at login

2014-10-24 Thread diehard67
Public bug reported:

I have tried diferant display managers (kdm nd lightdm) both are
effected sometims whn my sister turns on her netbook she can't type in
her password untill she puts th cmpute to sleep and wakes it up again,
this seems to be randome, from what I have been able to fine from
googling all over the place plymouth is to blame for this, seems to be
if it is still running when whateverdm starts you will not bable to
type.

on my own laptop I have had the same problem and was able to fix it by
adding a sleep 2 before exec lightdm in /etc/init/lightdm.conf

my sisters netbook needed more then that, he delay got to 6 seconds
long and still wasn't reliable, I had to modify /etc/default/grub to ass
text after splash then put service lightdm restart in rc.local so she
could login most of the time.

she has had the problem in 14.04 and now in 14.10, I have had it sense
