[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1273652] Re: "apply" of multi-monitor setting results in crash

2014-11-10 Thread Jason Smith
I believe the problem is a mismatch between the driver and the settings
app. The nvidia-settings attached to driver 304 is actually 331...if
you manually install nvidia-settings 304 (the deb for which you can dig
up somewhere on the nvidia-settings launchpad/files page) all is ok

settings-304-updates_304.88-0ubuntu0.0.3_i386.deb is what i installed.

Same problem here. Lenovo T410, nvidia gpu, ubuntu 12.04. Using the
nvidia driver then breaks the mousepad scrolling and the FN keys for
dimming and so one. So nvidia proprietary driver does not really seem to
be a solution for me

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1246683] Re: Middle button does not work for scrolling

2014-11-10 Thread Dominik Gierlach
If you don't want to compile the package yourself, II created a ppa which
contains the patched xserver-xorg-input-evdev, including a working config in
xorg.conf.d. The package should also make sure that the conflicting synaptics
package is removed.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1391247] [NEW] Screeen frezes randomly

2014-11-10 Thread Pavel Fischer
Public bug reported:

Since update to 14.10 i have 4 times same error. The screen is friezed. Mouse
cursor moves itself, but I can't click anything. Switching to other tty works
but need much time (about a minute). "top" shows no processes, which uses 100%
CPU. But kern.log has:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1391243] [NEW] libg1-mesa-dev doesn't create /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libGL.so link

2014-11-10 Thread Janus
Public bug reported:

Package version installed: 10.3.0-0ubuntu3
Ubuntu release: Utopic (normal upgrade from Trusty)

Trying to build OpenGL-depending program I run ./configure script which
tries to invoke «glBegin» with gcc and -lGL, and it fails.

I have both libgl1-mesa-{dev,dri,glx} and fglrx-updates{,-dev} installed, and
only manual symlinking helps.
Alhough I wanted fglrx libGL.so.1.2 symlinked, none is being symlinked, so it's
bad in its current state.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1364292] Re: [Toshiba Portégé R600-10Q] VGA output doesn't work with Intel GM45 chipset

2014-11-10 Thread Oliver Woodford
No, nothing changed. The bug still exists.

Was there any reason to believe that it wouldn't?

Closing bugs on which there has been no comment for 60 days is absurd.
It's the equivalent of brushing dirt under the rug. But I don't want to
check the latest image every 60 days on the off chance something has
changed, when nobody is trying to fix this - that's a complete waste of
my time. So there's a problem with the bug tracking system here.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1386620] Re: re-enable rotation for the intel driver in optimus mode

2014-11-10 Thread Maarten Lankhorst
I've verified xorg-server rotation works correctly. On utopic I had
issues with rotation, when using xrandr --output HDMI1 --rotate left in
normal mode. Bisecting it shows it was caused by introducing dri3
support, and cherry picking some upstream patches fixed it. The trusty
patches to xxv-intel don't introduce dri3 support so it's unaffected by
the hang I've discovered.

But on trusty with those patches rotation works for me as it should. :)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1389215] Re: Brightness controls are not working in Unity / Xorg.

2014-11-10 Thread Hans Deragon
Some more clarification. I tried under KDE Plasma 5.1 (Neon) and still
I could not change the brightness of the backlight.

However, the CLI commands that fail in a terminal running under an Xorg
session work flawlessly under a console ().

cd /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0

echo 5 >brightness # Works under the console!
echo 10 >brightness # Works under the console!

This all suggest that somehow, Xorg is inhibiting the brightness
control.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1379237] Re: AMD Mars XTX [Radeon HD 8790M] [1002:6606] Black screen on external display (extended mode) with fglrx

2014-11-10 Thread Po-Hsu Lin
Hello Anthony,
Since this system is an I+A hybrid graphic system, proprietary driver is needed
to do the switching job for certification. (Unless there is another way to do
this)

Processor Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0416] (rev 06) (prog-if 00 [VGA
