[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1382865] Re: Dell Latitude E6330 Touchpad stops working

2014-11-13 Thread gare-calhoun
Touchpad moves around a bit too freely without the glidepoint package.

But it does not die! Laptop has been up for 2 days, touchpad stayed functional
entire time.
So removing the glidepoint resolved this issue for me.

Thank you Carsten!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1382865] Re: Dell Latitude E6330 Touchpad stops working

2014-11-13 Thread Carsten Gräser
Now, without glidepoint daemon, I can adjust the speed and acceleration
for the touchpad in KDEs touchpad config dialog.

The only (small) remaining problem is that scrollong is much faster now
with the touchpad and I can't find a way to adjust this properly.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1386721] Re: Graphics Slow After Upgrade 14.04 - 14.10

2014-11-13 Thread Alain A Servais
Affects me too.

Fresh install of Ubuntu 14.10 on brand new desktop computer with Intel
integrated graphics. Launching directly gedit as only graphical
application after boot, display freezes for a noticeable period of time
(10-20 seconds) when editing with a mix of keyboard entry, keyboard
shortcuts and mouse edition.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1392513] [NEW] No signal sent to screen when rotating it

2014-11-13 Thread Aaron Staley
Public bug reported:

Using nouveau drivers on Ubuntu 14.10 on a Thinkpad T410P.

If I attempt to rotate the external screen (xrandr --output

It only works in normal rotation. (xrandr indicates no issues)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1392549] [NEW] So many times the last two days my screen force closes

2014-11-13 Thread Eric Lutts
Public bug reported:

I've noticed my screen going dim and then it returns to normal after a
few seconds but its almost like it's doing a soft reboot. At the same
time I notice the CPU fan spin really fast also. Not sure if that has
anything to do with it or if that's purely coincidence.

Goran Obal, while the hardware under the hood is different between yours and
LP#907381, for now let us mark this a duplicate given the scope of the hardware
at issue (graphics card), and problem under review is the same as verified via
a terminal:
cd ~/Desktop wget -c https://launchpadlibrarian.net/161911014/Lspci.txt -O

2-2.txt ; rm 1-2.txt rm 2-2.txt rm 1.txt rm 2.txt

Thank you for filing this bug report, as it it most helpful to have your
hardware on file, in order to ensure your issue is resolved as well as
others.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 907381] Re: 1002:6741 [Dell Vostro 3550] Display resolution keeps switching with external monitor connected

2014-11-13 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Lee Willis / Goran Obal, just to clarify the WORKAROUND, do you have to xinput
disable all three of the following, or could you do 1-2 of them and it still
works:
↳ Video Bus id=8 [slave keyboard (3)]
↳ Video Bus id=7 [slave keyboard (3)]
↳ Dell WMI hotkeys id=17 [slave keyboard (3)]

** Description changed:

- A fresh install of Ubuntu 11.10 on a Dell Vostro 3550 with all updates (OSS
only - no proprietary drivers). When connecting the laptop to an external
monitor to extend my desktop the display settings are unstable. I choose to
enable both the laptop panel, and the external monitor setting appropriate
resolutions and apply settings. Sometimes the chosen settings do not take. If
they do apply, and I confirm that I want to keep the settings, at random
intervals the display settings are auto-changed by the system. This may include:
- - Resetting to mirrored displays at 1024x768
- - Resetting to a single display on the laptop panel
- - Resetting to a single display on the external monitor
- - Some other weird combination.
+ On my Dell Vostro 3550, from 11.10 through 14.04 When connecting to an
+ external monitor to extend my desktop the display settings are unstable.
+ Sometimes the chosen settings do not take. If they do apply, and I
+ confirm that I want to keep the settings, at random intervals the

+ resetting to mirrored displays at 1024x768, a single display on the
+ laptop panel, a single display on the external monitor, or some other
+ undesired combination.

- E.g. When using my computer in a time range of 10 minutes i could get
- through 5 different dispositions and resolutions. It could be both
- display working fine, then only one but with wrong resolution, then the
- two again but with mirror, then just the second, and so on.
+ In Saucy, I attempted to use the proprietary drivers, but this did not work:
+ * fglrx-installer from the repository (Login screen fine, but logging in
produces a black page with only white cursor showing).
+ * fglrx-installer-updates (Login screen fine, but logging in produces a
black page with only white cursor showing).
+ * Manually installing Catalyst 13.4 - unusable display corruption.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1295648] Re: [Dell Vostro 3460] Ubuntu detects a non-existing screen

2014-11-13 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Dominik Wiernicki, as per
http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/vostro-3460/drivers
an update to your BIOS is available (A19). If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it
doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of
the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, then please mark this report Status Confirmed.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1297144] Re: Invisible cursor after resume from suspend

2014-11-13 Thread Alex Thompson
I'm also seeing this on a fresh install of Ubuntu 14.10 (64-bit) using
Unity not xfce, on a Lenovo X1 Carbon.

I only see this after suspending for a long period (hours).

Not sure if I should open a different bug as I'm using Ubuntu rather
than Xubuntu.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1389904] Re: With the recent update to xserver-xorg-video-intel, system boots to a black screen

2014-11-13 Thread LHoust
The On-board i815 Graphics of an ASUS CUSL2 Motherboard boots to an
Entirely White Screen when Xubuntu 14.04.1/Mythbuntu 14.04.1 Systems are
booted. Virtual Terminals are mostly White, with Characters which are
NOT legible. Typing Blindling into a Virtual Terminal, I succeeded in
installing openssh-server/NX and synaptic so that I could Downgrade/Lock
xorg-video-intel 2:2.99.910-0ubuntu1.2 to xorg-video-intel
2:2.99.910-0ubuntu1. Although the Login Screen and Xorg Screens are
working, the Virtual Terminals are still 'Garbled.

Within the Xorg.0.log the following was reported:

[32.420] (EE) Backtrace:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1385457] Re: Show desktop shows remains of previous windows not wallpaper

2014-11-13 Thread Springnuts
The problem is only present in Unity; logging on to Xubuntu there is no
sign of it. So I guess it is a Unity issue?

** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) = unity (Ubuntu)
