[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1365695] Re: No longer able to use GUI after update

2014-12-09 Thread Luke Swart
I have the same problem as sohel, where the original issue is fixed but
my external monitor is not detected by Nvidia Prime. I created a
question here:

http://askubuntu.com/questions/550750/nvidia-prime-does-not-detect-
external-vga-monitor-after-updating-ubuntu-drivers

but there are no answers. I have held `ubuntu-drivers-common` at version
0.2.91.5, which allows me to use the external monitor, but it causes
other problems. Before this issue occurred, my setup was working fine.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1400626] Re: Please backport xtrans, libdrm, x11proto-{fonts, core} packages for 14.04.2

2014-12-09 Thread Mathew Hodson
Hello Maarten, or anyone else affected,

Accepted xorg into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/1:7.7+1ubuntu8.1
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 157887] [NEW] suspend doesn't work on Presario r3210ca

2014-12-09 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.20

When I try to return from suspend, some text comes up quickly and then
there is just a blank, back lit screen. The computer is still on, but
you have to shut off the computer and reboot it in order to do anything.
This essentially makes the suspend feature unusable.

The laptop's model is a Compaq Presario R3210CA running Ubuntu 7.10 and
the output of uname -a is:

"Linux sean-laptop 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Sun Oct 14 23:05:12 GMT 2007

Please find dmesg and lspci outputs attached below.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1400937] [NEW] fglrx (not installed): fglrx kernel module failed to build

2014-12-09 Thread Krzysztof Setlak
Public bug reported:

Kernel: 3.16.0-26
The installer in a general mode says it lacks the following file:
/lib/modules/3.16.0-26-generic/build/include/linux/version.h
The distro-specific package (Ubuntu/utopic) however builds and installs. The
software center says the package is installed, so does apt-get and synaptic,
but the error says otherwise.
I'm not sure if the bug reporting mechanism collected all the data, if needed,

2014-12-09 Thread Capone Cash
Dear Christopher!

I have executed the requested BIOS update, what happened is that I run the
application from the bios interface, it first erased the old (version 302)
and than copied the new(version 303) from the pendrive I inserted. The
mouse still not working.

The requested output for the terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s
bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

X550JK.303

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1272338] Re: Xorg memory leak on trusty

2014-12-09 Thread Timothy J. Holloway
I've had problems with Ubuntu 14.10 then 14.04.1 LTS then Linux Mint 17
and now Linux Mint Debian Edition. I managed to get the system monitor
app up and found mate-settings-daemon was taking up the most memory and
I couldn't kill the process. 1.8GB or more of my 2GB was taken up and
eventually the two cores of my CPU started making sine and cosine waves
in the system resources tab. I had to reboot again on my new
installation. I had hoped whatever the problem was, it had been
corrected by the fresh installation.

2014-12-09 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Mary Gardiner, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather

apport-collect -p xorg 12124

Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes
button for attaching additional debugging information.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 12124] [NEW] touchpads occasionally gone wild

2014-12-09 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When I first login to X and touch my laptop's touch pad, the cursor response is
extremely fast and somewhat random. After approximately a second of movement,
the response returns to normal and my cursor does not speed around my screen,
nor does it randomly open things on my dekstop.

A single touch on the touchpad after logging into my Ubuntu system has on
various occasions done the following: opened the calendar application, opened
the trash window multiple times, and resized and moved my panel. This is clearly
undesirable, I would prefer that my system have the mouse not "go crazy" at any
time.

This is 100% reproducible on my system on both warty and hoary.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 12720] [NEW] vertical scroll needs time

2014-12-09 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

..when starting up X, it just doesn't work. After a time I use X the scrolling
starts working. I managed to get it work once after like 3 seconds, I was
tapping at the upper right corner, seems that turns it on (sometimes, or just
coincidence).
Option "Protocol" "auto-dev"
Option "SHMConfig" "on"
Option "RightEdge" "5980"
Option "BottomEdge""4300"
Option "CircularScrolling" "1"
Option "RTCornerButton""3"
Option "RBCornerButton""2"
Option "CircScrollTrigger" "3"
this is what I use, I can live with it but someone may have a clue.
Just for info, there is a new driver (0.14) available with many new features,
upgrade is actually recommended.
(I use the hoary version)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 12723] [NEW] Synaptic touchpad wrong middle-click under touch

2014-12-09 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When touching the touchpad, the result is like if I do a middle-click instead of
a right-click. The laptop is a HP Pavilion dv1000.

I sent an email to the mailing list explaining this and I found that I
need to do:

synclient TapButton2=1

in order to make it do the left-click.

Let me know what output files would you like to have.

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When typing the cursor can just jump far off to the corners of the

There has to be a patch that prevents such erratic cursor movement

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1297144] Re: Invisible cursor after resume from suspend

2014-12-09 Thread Ian
Another way that I have found to (temporary) resolve this problem is to
use ARandR. I used ARandR to create a shell script that disables all
displays on the system. I also created one to set each of my normal
display configurations and assigned keyboard shortcuts to each. When the
cursor disappears, I use the keyboard shortcut to disable all displays
and then the appropriate keyboard shortcut to re-enable the display
configuration that I was using. This seems to fix most display related
issues.

2014-12-09 Thread Айдеед
Hello Christopher,
It stats i need windows however i lost my windows 8.1 when i was installing
Ubuntu 14.04. For some reason the Installation mixed up my hard drives up as a
result mixing my WIndows 7 with my Windows 8.1. Thinking i was over writing
Windows 7 (when in fact it was Windows 8.1) i cocked it up.

I still have my Windows 8.1 Hard Drive (I called it Windows 8.1 (C)
before the installation) however i cant get it to boot up along with
Ubuntu.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1400790] [NEW] Left hand navigation menu when in Videos folder but Connect to Server is selected

2014-12-09 Thread Nikita Yerenkov-Scott
Public bug reported:

I was in "Files" in the left hand menu selection where I can select to
go to different places such as "Downloads" and "Browse Network".

I was in my "Videos "folder, and then I selected "Connect to Server" and
the little dialog came up, but when I clicked the cross on the little
dialog box to exit it, it was still showing the folders in my "Videos"
folder, but it still had the "Connect to Server" thing in the left hand
navigation menu selected. As if it was in there and not in "Videos".

I would have expected it to jump back to "Videos" being selected in the
left hand navigation menu or something rather than keeping the "Connect
to Server" selected when you are not still in that section. It even says
at the top that I am in "Videos" directory inside the "Home" directory.

I am running on Ubuntu 14.04.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1321008] Re: Screen(s) froze in Gnome-shell.

2014-12-09 Thread KML
I worked arround the problem by running rdesktop with the -b flag - Info
from rdesktop man: "-b : Force the server to send screen updates as
bitmaps rather than using higher-level drawing operations."

Since i did this i havn't had this problem even once, but it takes a
heavy toll on the bandwidth, and on slow connections this is far from
ideal.

Hope you find a fix.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1129409] Re: Nvidia and AMD graphics drivers should indicate whether they provide libcuda.so.1, libOpenCL.so.1, etc.

2014-12-09 Thread zzarko
I'm having the same problem on 14.04 64bit, new fglrx (14.12) and wine
1.6/1.7. Trying to install wine after fglrx requires fglrx removal, and
vice versa.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1400626] Re: Please backport xtrans, libdrm, x11proto-{fonts, core} packages for 14.04.2

2014-12-09 Thread Maarten Lankhorst
** Tags added: lts-utopic trusty

** Description changed:

In order to upload the new xorg-server we need to backport the following
packages from utopic:
  libdrm
- x11proto-core
+ x11proto-core
  x11proto-fonts
  xtrans

libdrm 2.4.52-1->2.4.56-1 seems to have the following changes:
  - Hides private symbols from all libdrm libraries
  - fixes MSAA on Hawaii (radeon).
  - Adds cherryview pci-ids (intel).
  - Makes libdrm-nouveau threadsafe with concurrent access to the drm fd.
  - Fixes to exynos and freedreno.
  - Enables building libdrm-freedreno1 and libdrm-exynos1

x11proto-core's main change appears to be changing from the 'pointer' type to
'void *':

https://launchpadlibrarian.net/173873109/x11proto-core_7.0.24-1_7.0.26-1.diff.gz

x11proto-fonts' main change is the same as x11proto-core, but the
documentation is reformatted too:

https://launchpadlibrarian.net/173873038/x11proto-fonts_2.1.2-1_2.1.3-1.diff.gz

xtrans seems to have 2 minor changes, increase default unix pipe size and add
support for systemd socket activation:
  https://launchpadlibrarian.net/173873112/xtrans_1.3.2-1_1.3.4-1.diff.gz
+
+ xorg needs to be slightly updated, to allow xserver-xorg to provide the
+ unrenamed lts-utopic, and to allow xorg to be installed with the renamed
+ xorg-server.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1389904] Re: With the recent update to xserver-xorg-video-intel, system boots to a black screen

2014-12-09 Thread Aurimas Fišeras
We experience the X crash with every PC with Intel 810/815 chipset and
anything newer than xserver-xorg-video-intel=2:2.99.910-0ubuntu1.

I dedicated one of the computers for finding the problem. I tried to report a
bug with:
sudo apport-bug /var/crash/_usr_bin_Xorg.0.crash

However, when I press "S: Send report (382.7 KB)", apport just exits
without any message.

What can I do to help resolve this issue?
