[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1104230] Re: DisplayPort 1.2 MST support is missing in the Intel driver
Krzysztof, looks like you installed the kernel correctly, you are simply booting into a newer kernel without the feature. Please make sure you boot using 3.13.0-39. To do so please choose kernel 3.13.0-39 from the GRUB menu during the boot of your computer. You can find more information how do display the menu at [1]. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1401434] [NEW] Desktop is distorted after update to 331.113
Public bug reported: After upgrading to 331.113 I have experienced distorted desktop. I have also experienced the same problem after trying to upgrade to 14.10 and that's why I've reverted to backup of 14.04. I is quite strange. Unity controls are ok. I.e. Dash and panel on top look ok. But desktop itself and application windows are stretched to multi-monitor setup. If I arrange monitors side by side, desktop and applications are distorted horizontally. If I arrange them top to bottom, desktop is distorted vertically. It is interesting, that even screenshot is taken as is, i.e. showing distortion. On my current setup I have Dash on both (or three) screens and top panel repeating. In the screenshot with distortion, however, there's only one Dash and top panel is not visible (only line seen) on laptop screen. Mouse cursor is ok, but it is impossible to point to correct location on desktop or application window: some hit and miss involved. I am using Nvidia Optimus with nvidia-prime and lightdm for dual or three monitor setup (with docking station), laptop screen running on Intel card. I suppose this might be simply old configuration files or some package version, that is not compatible with 331.113. I've reverted to 331.38 and everything's ok. Note, that upgrading to 14.10 had exactly the same effect. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1401497] [NEW] [xorg-edgers] Packaging issue. Nvidia drivers are not installing. They are not coming with nvidia-xconfig or any of the usual programs
Public bug reported: On the 7th or the 8th, the xorg edgers repo updated. The driver i was using is nvidia-340. I don't exactly know how this works but it deleted my xorg.conf file and did so on every relog and reboot. I had had this problem a few months back but I was able to work around it by setting the xorg.conf file to read-only, using the command sudo 'chattr +i xorg.conf'. I tried the same thing this time around but the xorg log keeps saying that the driver doesnt exist. I'll attach the log if i find it. More to the point, in my last successful install, after installing the driver, i just had to run nvidia-xconfig the for the driver to work. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1401497] Re: [xorg-edgers] Packaging issue. Nvidia drivers are not installing. They are not coming with nvidia-xconfig or any of the usual programs
** Description changed: On the 7th or the 8th, the xorg edgers repo updated. This time around, none of the programs that are usually installed have been installed, no nvidia-persistenced, no nvidia-xconfig, no nvidia- smi. The only thing that comes is nvidia-detector. When i force xorg to use the same xorg.conf as before, by giving it - readonly attribute so that it isnt autodeleted, xorg log says + readonly attribute so that it isnt autodeleted, xorg log says '[ + 17.499] (EE) Failed to load module nvidia (module does not exist, 0)' I have the same problem with the rest of the rest of the nvidia drivers i've tried including: nvidia-current, nvidia-331, nvidia-343, nvidia-346. - Description: Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca Release: 17.1 (Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty) 3.13.0-40-generic xserver-xorg-lts-trusty nvidia-340: - Installed: 340.65-0ubuntu1~xedgers14.04.1 - Candidate: 340.65-0ubuntu1~xedgers14.04.1 - Version table: - *** 340.65-0ubuntu1~xedgers14.04.1 0 - 500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/xorg-edgers/ppa/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages - 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status + Installed: 340.65-0ubuntu1~xedgers14.04.1 + Candidate: 340.65-0ubuntu1~xedgers14.04.1 + Version table: + *** 340.65-0ubuntu1~xedgers14.04.1 0 + 500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/xorg-edgers/ppa/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages + 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: xorg 1:7.7+1ubuntu8 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-40.69-generic 3.13.11.10 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-40-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: wl ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3.6 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: X-Cinnamon Date: Wed Dec 10 19:52:40 2014 EcryptfsInUse: Yes InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-11-03 (37 days ago) InstallationMedia: Linux Mint 17 Qiana - Release amd64 20140624 ProcEnviron: - TERM=xterm - PATH=(custom, no user) - XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=set - LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 - SHELL=/bin/bash + TERM=xterm + PATH=(custom, no user) + XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=set + LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 + SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: xorg UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1401497 Title: [xorg-edgers] Packaging issue. I have now 3 IIyama touchscreens with eGalax touchpanels the: 2x IIyama T1931-SR-b (5 wire resistive) IIyama T1931-SAW-b (Acousic Wave) The 1st screen (SR) worked out of the box and retained it's calibration but needed a startup script and udev rule # xinput list # to find the map-to-output value # xrandr # to find the output plug name xinput map-to-output 9 DVI-I-1 The 2nd screen (SR) worked orignally out of the box and after a week it lost it's calibration and was impossible to get calibrated again. As you touch closer to the top right corner the mouse moves more to the left of your finger) The 3rd screen (SAW) doesn't react to touch at all and I'm still fighting with it to get it to work. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1104230] Re: DisplayPort 1.2 MST support is missing in the Intel driver
Krzysztof, you should be using 3.13.0-39 patched by me (the newer version is the vanilla Ubuntu kernel which does not support MST). Regarding your question about cables: you should not worry about that. According to [1]: Despite what you may read, there is no such thing as a DisplayPort 1.1 cable and DisplayPort 1.2 cable. A standard DisplayPort cable, including the so-call DisplayPort 1.1 cables, will work for any DisplayPort configuration including the new capabilities enabled by DisplayPort 1.2, including 4K and multi-stream capabilities. All standard DisplayPort cables support RBR, HBR (High Bit Rate), and HBR2 (High Bit Rate 2), which can support 4K at 60Hz, or up to four 1080p displays using multi-stream. So basically any DP cable should be ok. If you have the intel drivers and the correct kernel up and running nothing else is required to get a working multi-display setup. Krzysztof, you don't have to downgrade the kernel. This is only necessary with the open-source Intel drivers. I'm not sure if AMD drivers support Displayport 1.2 MST feature, but I know that NVIDIA drivers do support it and it does not require anything special about the kernel. Ben, are you able to compare this behaviour with the 3.17 kernel (e.g. from debs available at [1])? If the behavior is consistent between the two kernel version - it's another issue. If 3.17 behaves better than the 3.16 you were using - this is the right place to handle the problem. I got the information that from 3.17 I should have this MST support. http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=474threadid=180336 Can you look at this or suggest if I should from Ubuntu trusty I should upgrade kernel to 3.17 or so ? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1104230 Title: DisplayPort 1.2 MST support is missing in the Intel driver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1104230/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1104230] Re: DisplayPort 1.2 MST support is missing in the Intel driver
@Ben: if you were using an official Utopic 3.16.0-28-generic kernel, please note that it does NOT contain support for multiple displays using MST, so it will not be possible to have non-mirroring displays. If it is not from the official Utopic repository, please share the origin of this kernel. @Krzysztof - if AMD drivers (unlike NVIDIA's) need the MST hub support then booting the 3.13.0-39 kernel should do it.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1401648] [NEW] Prime profiles stop working after upgrade to newer nvidia driver
Public bug reported: Hi! Today I upgraded nvidia driver to nvidia 331.113 and nvidia does not seem to work anymore. Okay after doing so more digging I discovered that defining custom keyboard shortcuts does work but it apparently does not like the FN+F3 key. It puts it down as Battery. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1401743] [NEW] HP Z210 workstation with nvidia Quadro 600 card thinks 32 inch sharp TV/monitor is 37 inch
Public bug reported: I am dual booting with windows 8.1 and I am able to tweak the same misconfiguration with the nvidia console in windows by shrinking (down scaling) the display from 1920 X1080 to 1824 X 1026 resolution preserving the aspect ratio. Is it possible to enable the correct identification of the monitor as a 32 inch diagonal instead of an oversized 37 inch diagonal which makes my top menu bar and application side bar offscreen? I tried to install the nvidia (updates driver) but tweaking resulted in a missconfiguration forcing a lockup and reinstall. Since Windows also misidentifies this display it may be a communication error sourced from the display itself or documentation annomalies in an obscure monitor ...any advice or direction would be appreciated.
