[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1220426] Re: [nvidia-prime]Freeze while using touchpad
Clevo laptop, Ubuntu 14.10, NVidia GEForce GTX870M with nvidia 331.113-update drivers (selected from system settings) plus Intel integrated graphics, same issue. VT switching and external USB mouse workarounds work. I have another Clevo laptop identical but with NVidia GEForce GTX970M instead, nouveau drivers, no freezes using touchpad. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1411300] Re: Radeon flickering line after sleep
** Description changed: Since Ubuntu 14.10, no matter what DE or version of Ubuntu (Xubuntu, Kubuntu), after sleep there is a flickering line at the bottom of my screen. For Kubuntu, it can be prevented by simply requiring a password after resume. For Unity, running unity --replace works as a workaround, and for Xubuntu, it's random as to whatever fixes it or not. It has been an annoyance, but I don't want to go back to an earlier version of Ubuntu, as the Radeon driver in 14.10, actually now allows me to use WebGL in Chrome, and things like Google Maps.. (it was a big problem as the previous radeon driver had a lot of bugs on this GPU, most of which were in fact fixed). I also can't use FGLRX, because for whatever reason, it is actually slower than Ubuntu 14.10's included open source driver (weird, I know, right?) The driver is generally perfect, except this problem with the flickering line. I am using the VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Seymour [Radeon HD 6400M/7400M Series]. Please assist, because this is a laptop, and can't just change graphics cards (I would if it was the solution though), and well, hitting hard times, so switching laptops isn't a choice. Besides, it's only 3 years old and still does everything I need done. I made a video demonstrating the flickering line at the bottom of the screen on resume from sleep. Sometimes videos explain things better than words: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-t3K95g898 + I would also like to add that I have completely reformatted the hard + drive and reinstalled many other versions of Ubuntu, to find that 14.10 + literally is the only one having this issue. + ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.10 Package: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:7.4.0-2ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.16.0-29.39-generic 3.16.7-ckt2 Uname: Linux 3.16.0-29-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: wl ApportVersion: 2.14.7-0ubuntu8 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: KDE Date: Thu Jan 15 11:05:03 2015 InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-01-05 (10 days ago) InstallationMedia: Kubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn - Release amd64 (20141022.1) SourcePackage: xserver-xorg-video-ati UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1411300 Title: Radeon flickering line after sleep To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/1411300/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1411375] [NEW] Xorg does not terminate at computer shutdown
Public bug reported: Whenever I reboot the system, it seems to hang for a long time towards the end of the shutdown. I found out it's because of the /etc/init.d/sendsigs script's do_stop() function where it waits up to 5 minutes for $(upstart_killed_jobs) to report that all the jobs have been killed. When the server comes back up there's a dialog box prompting me to report a bug that was detected. The bug summary above was filled in automatically. I'm a bit surprised to find out that it's Xorg that's preventing the shutdown, since I see X exit and the shutdown sequence displayed on a terminal. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1129409] Re: Nvidia and AMD graphics drivers should indicate whether they provide libcuda.so.1, libOpenCL.so.1, etc.
I posted on bug # 1376587... I fixed a couple bugs regarding the AMD Catalyst drivers... Okay, so the replaces line needs to change to this: Enhances: libopencl1 Replaces: fglrx-driver-core Provides: fglrx-driver-core, opencl-icd, amd-opencl-icd Fresh install, I had to get rid of libopencl1 in the repalces line as it causes a fight between packages.. I added the enhances line becasue, well, it enhances OpenCL with GPGPU support. This allow's both the updates driver from the repo's and the drivers form AMD's website to install with wine gracefully. Why the Enhances line - I noticed that OpenCL wasn't working on my system. SO a few more changes was in order: In /usr/lib I create thed following symlink: libOpenCL.so and pointed it at libOpenCL.so.1 Then I created two more symlinks for completness: libOpenCL.so.1.1 and libOpenCL.so.1.2 and both of those pointed to libOpenCL.so (I did this incase AMD or someone decides that proviced libOpenCL.so.1 file name should be corrected to libOpenCL.so). I then did the same in /usr/lib32 Then I went into /etc/OpenCL/venders and coped amdocl64.icd in the same dir but called it amdocl32.icd I edited that file, and changed libamdocl64.so to libamdocl32.so Next, in /etc/ld.so.conf.d I made a file called opencl-vender-amd.conf and add the line: /etc/OpenCL/venders I then ran ldconfig to finalise the settings. Wine works fine as well as GPGPU accelerated OpenCL (tested with BOINC). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-313-updates in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1129409 Title: Nvidia and AMD graphics drivers should indicate whether they provide libcuda.so.1, libOpenCL.so.1, etc. To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/boinc/+bug/1129409/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Hello, I found this issue has something to do with the Enable Switchable Graphics option in the BIOS If Enabled, it will make another graphical controller (Intel) available. And this issue would happen. If disabled, there will be only one nVidia video there, and this won't happen. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1405325] Re: [I+N] Split screen after setting the monitors configuration to extended
I have verified the Proposed-package. It fixed the split-screen issue. Works good for me: My test bed: a ThinkPad t450 laptop with Nvidia Device 1347. Reproduce: before I install the proposed-package, the version is: ii xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.99.910-0ubuntu1.3 amd64X.Org X server -- Intel i8xx, i9xx display driver The attached picture shows the problem Verification: after I install the proposed-package in Comment #7, I can't reproduce the same issue. So I believe the issue is fixed by the new package. ** Attachment added: reproduce.png https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1405325/+attachment/4299770/+files/reproduce.png ** Tags removed: verification-needed ** Tags added: verification-done -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1405325 Title: [I+N] Split screen after setting the monitors configuration to extended To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hwe-next/+bug/1405325/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
