[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1424263] Re: Broken dependencies

Just to clarify my previous post. These packages can't be installed if
you do a fresh install of Ubuntu 14.04.2. If you install Ubuntu 14.04

packages and steam as well. I just did this.

These are the packages I have installed even after a dist-upgrade and
subsequent change of version to 14.04.2 in my /etc/issue

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1331997] Re: ???? i dont no

2015-02-21 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Daniel Gußmann, thank you for taking the time to report this and helping
to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because
your description didn't include enough information. You may find it
helpful to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html and
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs . We'd be grateful if you would
then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. The behavior you expected, and
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Thank you for your understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1332824] [NEW] Samsung XE700T1C Keyboard and touchpad not properly recognised

2015-02-21 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Ubuntu 14.04

---

xorg:
  Installed : 1:7.7+1ubuntu8
  Candidate : 1:7.7+1ubuntu8
 Version Table:
 *** 1:7.7+1ubuntu8 0
500 http://www-ftp.lip6.fr/pub/linux/distributions/Ubuntu/archive/
trusty/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

---

Expecting at least the smartpad to be properly recognised with the bare
minimum multi-touch gesture: two-fingers right click, side scrolling,
two-fingers scrolling, mouse speed.

As advised by Christopher M. Penalver (penalvch) in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1304386

This is almost a duplicate as the behaviour is the same and the
hardware really close (Samsung XE700T1C-A01FR as opposed to a XE700T1C-
K01SE in bug #1304386)

xinput -list gives:

⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2[master pointer (3)]

Note that USB Keyboard+SmartPad is present twice (id 12 and 13)

Also note that running
 xinput test 13
doesn't detect any multitouch on the smartpad.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1328149] Re: Xorg freeze

2015-02-21 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Richard Skifton, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg 1328149

Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes
button for attaching additional debugging information.

As well, given the information from the prior release is already
available, testing a release prior to the development one would not be
helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

2015-02-21 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Eric Maeker, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better. Could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from
the very top line at the top of the page (the release names are
irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder)
following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow
additional upstream developers to examine the issue.

If the test did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into
the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test
the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version
specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please
add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil
icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-3.XY-rcZ

Where XY and Z are numbers corresponding to the kernel version.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-3.XY-rcZ

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results.

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg 1330128

Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes
button for attaching additional debugging information.

As well, given the information from the prior release is already
available, testing a release prior to the development one would not be
helpful.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1329741] Re: After the update for version 14.04 the PC is rare,

2015-02-21 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Pedro Ortiz, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.
However, your crash report is missing. Please follow these instructions to have
apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the
automatic retracer. First, execute at a terminal:
cd /var/crash sudo rm * ; sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get -y upgrade
sudo service apport start force_start=1

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now reproduce the crash, then open your file manager, navigate to your
/var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with
'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is
the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed
to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug
/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. If you run the command against the crash
report and it does nothing, you may be affected by
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apport/+bug/994921 . In order to
WORKAROUND this, one would need to open the following file via a command line:
sudo nano /etc/apport/crashdb.conf

and comment out the line:
'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'],

by changing it to:
# 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'],

Save, close, and try to file the crash report again via:
ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash

Please follow https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DebuggingSystemCrash
when you file this crash report so the necessary information is
provided.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently.

Also, please do not attach your crash report manually to this report and
reopen it.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1417651] Re: Lenovo W520: display for one screen stretched over both when docked

2015-02-21 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Rockwalrus, just to advise, you don't have to apport-collect further
unless specifically requested to do so.

Despite this, the issue you are reporting is an upstream one. Could you
please report this problem to them following the instructions at
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/Nvidia#Reporting_an_upstream_bug
?

Please provide case number of your report once you have made it so that
it may be tracked.

Thank you for your understanding.

** Description changed:

When using the proprietary Nvidia drivers 331.113, the output from one
window is often stretched to cover both by Unity. One thing that I
noticed is that the standard xrandr-based Displays panel in System
Settings shows both outputs, but nvidia-settings shows only the external
  monitor.

  WORKAROUND: Use another window manager.

WORKAROUND: In Unity, manually configure the display output locations
  and sizes in ccsm.
+
+ WORKAROUND: Use nouveau.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1324204] Re: some bug error

2015-02-21 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Prabhudev, thank you for taking the time to report this and helping to
make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because
your description didn't include enough information. You may find it
helpful to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html and
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs . We'd be grateful if you would
then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. The behavior you expected, and
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Thank you for your understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1324520] Re: Monitor blinks when connected through HDMI

2015-02-21 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Sergey Pashinin, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg 1324520

Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes
button for attaching additional debugging information.

As well, given the information from the prior release is already
available, testing a release prior to the development one would not be
helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

better. As per http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers an update to
your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (P11.A4). If you
update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate
does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then
please mark this report Status New.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1325721] Re: Holding menu button breaks most of the keys and mouse

2015-02-21 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Yanpas, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg 1325721

Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes
button for attaching additional debugging information.

As well, given the information from the prior release is already
available, testing a release prior to the development one would not be
helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1402551] Re: High memory usage of Xorg and kwin after Xorg security updates [nvidia]

2015-02-21 Thread Bernhard
** Also affects: kde-workspace (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

** Tags added: upstream

** Description changed:

  Hello,

since the Xorg/nvidia security updates last week, I encounter a problem with
growing Xorg and kwin memory usage.
In one hour the memory consumption is at Xorg ~ 270 MiB and at kwin: 300 MB ,
so the system responds slowly and scrolling is very slow in in dolphin, kwrite,
firefox, etc.
After several hours the system is so slow, that only a restart helps, and
then the growing of memory starts again.

  *** My Tests;

I tried several nvidia drivers, but without success (from:

  331.113-0ubuntu0.0.1~xedgers12.04.1
  346.22-0ubuntu1~xedgers12.04.1
(With purging each nvidia driver and fresh installing it)

  *** My configuration;

  Two Kubuntu 12.04.5 PCs with a nvidia card;
  nvidia driver 331.113-0ubuntu0.0.0.3 and 304.125-0ubuntu0.0.0.1
One pc with the Trusty Xstack (HWE) with Trusty kernel
(3.13.0-43.72~precise1) and the other one with the stock kernel

I use one pc in my office, so it disturbs my work because of the

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1389904] Re: With the recent update to xserver-xorg-video-intel, system boots to a black screen

2015-02-21 Thread John Hupp
I have found that 3 low-spec machines (different makes/models), all
running Intel 810 video chipsets, all stalled when trying to boot as
*buntu thin clients. When I applied the same workaround as in #30 and
downgraded xserver-xorg-video-intel to 2:2.99.910-0ubuntu1, all 3 now
boot.

So it seems that i810 and i815 are both affected by the same bug.
