[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1220426] Re: [nvidia-prime]Freeze while using touchpad
I have created a PPA for those using Vivid. The only change is the addition of the upstream patch. https://launchpad.net/~snafu109/+archive/ubuntu/xorg-server This may be useful for users on Utopic too since both use xserver-xorg 1.16, but there are no guarantees. I installed the package built for Vivid on my machine running Utopic and didn't experience any problems, and it fixed the freezing issue for me as expected. I can't provide any support for this, sorry. But please comment if you're using Vivid and you try this, whether it does or does not fix the issue. The debdiff I attached (see comment 247) contains the patch that was applied to the package provided in the PPA. If you try the PPA and it works, that validates the patch I provided. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1220426 Title: [nvidia-prime]Freeze while using touchpad To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xorg-server/+bug/1220426/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1028617] Re: Cursor shakes violently when connected to power source - makes touchpad cursor unusable
The problem is related to electrical interference from the power supply (see http://superuser.com/questions/76649/laptop-touchpad-works- incorrectly-when-on-power-supply). As suggested by users here, increasing the noise threshold helps. I tried two nights ago to install the alpha 2 but was unable to do it. When I tried, ubiqity was starting the bouncing cursor and then stopping. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1398008] Re: "Caps. Lock" LED keyboard indicator not working
Hello Christopher; unfortunately, due to very low performance of Unity, I had to get rid of Ubuntu Trusty and install Ubuntu GNOME 14.04 LTS on my laptop. It performs much better than the other, so I think I'll stick with it from now on. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1412730] Re: DELL U2415 monitor detection issues
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected reproducible vivid ** Description changed: My Laptop HP Elitebook 8740w has two external screens connected. 1 DELL U2412M connected to vga connector 1 DELL U2415 connected to Displayport. I worked for about a year with a single external display, just U2412M on the displayport without the issue I decribe. The first issue: When booting up and with screens attatched and active, the 2415 boots in 1024x768 resolution, the 2412 boots at the same moment in 1920x1200 as it should. At the point where the login screen appears the 2415 goes in power save mode, most of the time. The 2412 displays just fine at the moment. After logging in, turning the 2415 off and on, sometimes helps the get the screen active (out of power save). When it gets active, the resoltion is 1024x768, not 1920x1200. In unity-control-center in display settings the 2415 is displayed as "Unknown Display" and the maximum resolution I can select is 1024x768. Second issue: After a laptop suspend the 2415 doenst alway become active again, the 2412 always. Turning off an on the 2415 multiple time mostly helps to get the screen active. Current partial workaround: xorg.conf with monitor section for 1920x1200 as in attatchment. This doesn't solve booting in 1024x768, but solves the resolution after logging in. unity-control-center still lists "Unknown Screen" Another strange behavior: when executing xrandr command, most of the time the 2415 stays in 1024, but after a number of executions the screen swithes to 1920x1200. At that moment xrandr outputs all possible resolutions as it should. When executing xrandr another time the 2415 switches back to 1024x768 Already tried kernel v3.18.3-vivid, no change. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1314367] Re: Flickering with Ubuntu 14.04 and nvidia card reappeared
fwiw: I hit this using the latest from Nvidia's download site, and also using the xorg-edgers ppa ( 346.47-0ubuntu1-xedgers14.04.1 ). The flipping in the terminal seems to be at the same speed as the cursor blink. I only noticed it in gnome terminal. xterm does not exhibit the problem. My system's a Dell T7500 with a Geforce gtx 570 running somewhat up to date ubuntu 14.04.1 "CCSM>Workarounds>Force synchronization between X and GLX" seemed to help a bit initially, but the problem is still present enough to make gnome terminal nearly unusable. "nvidia-settings -a GPUPowerMizerMode=1" seems to help more. With that, I haven't seen the flipping in my 30 seconds of extensive testing. Like Tom, I don't think I can install a new OS on this system, but I guess I might have time to boot the live cd sometime. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1314367 Title: Flickering with Ubuntu 14.04 and nvidia card reappeared To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1314367/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1412730] Re: DELL U2415 monitor detection issues
Hi Christopher, The issues still exist, so still "unknown display" in All Settings - Displays", wrong resolution (highest 1024x786) on U2415, power saving issue on U2415. The issues seem exactly the same as on trusty. I was not able to use the daily live iso, for xdiagnose extra debugging option requires /etc/default/grub to be updated and only works after reboot. I had a physical Vivid install already running on this laptop (multi-boot), which i keep as clean as possible and use for this kind of issues, so no customizations. So I upgraded this vivid install to the current state with apt-get dist-upgrade. After that I enabled xdiagnose extra debugging, deleted ~/.config/monitors.xml, booted and started the apport collection as you requested. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1412075] Re: dvd play back
tom randolph, thank you for taking the time to report this and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html and https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs . We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. As per http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product- support/product/precision-t5500/drivers an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (A16). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1425891] [NEW] Xorg radeon freezes if firefix loads big images
Public bug reported: If I open each of this URLs http://canon-premium.webcdn.stream.ne.jp/www09/canon-premium/eosd/samples/eos5dsr/downloads/02.jpg http://canon-premium.webcdn.stream.ne.jp/www09/canon-premium/eosd/samples/eos5ds/downloads/02.jpg in a firefox 36.0 on a Xorg Server of 1.15.1 with a R9 270 and a Ubuntu 14.04.1 AMD64 the desktop freezes. I can only move the mouse pointer, although the the login via SSH is still possible and works fine. By restarting the Xorg Server I can gain control over the local terminal again. This happens with the radeon driver, but not with the fglrx driver. The problem did not manifest itself with other applications. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1406869] Re: Slow perfomance with Nvidia driver
Vive, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg 1406869 Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information. As well, given the information from the prior release is already available, testing a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1399881] Re: problum
chittharanjana, thank you for taking the time to report this and helping to make Ubuntu better. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. The behavior you expected, and 3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: bios-outdated-0406 ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1399881 Title: problum To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1399881/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

tonton, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per http://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/N73SV/HelpDesk_Download/ an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (306). Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status New.
