[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1409222] Re: kubuntu live desktop iso xorg crashes upon launching installer
ok, downloaded kubuntu utopic, booted it, the live desktop showed for one half second, more or less, i tried to switch to vt2, no apparent response (similar to OP behavior), tried vt3, after several seconds it switched, i installed the same 2packages as above, and entered the same apport- command, it said ...Use your browser to authorize...Waiting to hear from Launchpad..., i started entering the mongo URL into my phone's firefox, meanwhile xorg was relaunched into a screen prompting for a password, i reswitched to vt3, continued entering the long URL, approved the access, meanwhile the vt3 screen says ERROR: connecting to Launchpad failed: EOF occurred in violation of protocol (_ssl.c:581) You can reset the credentials by removing the file /home/kubuntu/.cache/apport/launchpad.credentials, but i found no such file. i reissued the apport- command, it said ...Use your browser to authorize...Waiting to hear from Launchpad..., i typed in another nasty URL, this time it said *** Collecting problem information...Do you want to include these logs..., i said yes, and yes including git bisection (tho the last time i tried, neither finding nor following the build instructions proved accomplishable within several hours, after which life presented other things needing attention..). but, due to xorg being relaunched into the screen asking for a password, i wonder whether the collected information captured anything useful. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1409222 Title: kubuntu live desktop iso xorg crashes upon launching installer To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1409222/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1408931] Re: screen flickers and dies
Christopher, thanks for your reply, but it is not the bios this is a problem I've had right from the start which I conclude has to do with the dual processor. in a layman's language there is a threshold jumps, almost like from the interior to the exterior. If an application is on the outside fine. but then that same application goes inside and performs differently. I can see this the way the application starts off. Lets take Audacity which is the best example, at time it loads with the logo, then without. Skype, at time the icon is in the menu bar, at other time Skype logo is just shy. I can see this with LibreOffice at moments, and so many other applications like switching wires(?) [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1409222] Re: kubuntu live desktop iso xorg crashes upon launching installer
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ubuntu utopic ** Description changed: sit down at certain computer that runs xubuntu and lubuntu ISOs just fine, but crashes the kubuntu ISO. download kubuntu 14.04.1 desktop iso. boot it. when the live desktop appears, switch to a virtual console. type in ubuntu-bug xorg, without a CR, to be ready. switch back to the live desktop. launch the installer. xorg crashes. switch back to the virtual console. hit CR (thus launching ubuntu-bug). do these several times, because there's no apparent response. eventually the lockup dissolves, and i see the ubuntu-bug interaction, which absorbed the extra CRs by repeating it's query about whether to send the report. meanwhile xorg is relaunched into a login screen. switch back to the virtual console. send the report. it's this one. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1401623] Re: Corrupted mouse cursor on one of the screens
I'm on 14.10 using an AMD Radeon R9 290X, and having the same issue. The fact that we're supposed to make new bug reports every time someone's hardware is slightly different or a new version of Ubuntu comes out is mildly infuriating, because it makes it seem as if there are fewer people with this issue than there really are. I've seen tons of bug reports with almost no activity, probably because people just went to nVidia and never bothered to check back here. This problem seems to happen with all AMD display adapters when there are 2 or more monitors, with very few exceptions. I feel that studying those exceptions separately from when it *doesn't* work will be more helpful, because not working seems to be the norm. If there is a 'central' bug report for this issue that hasn't been marked 'invalid' because it was started on an old version of Ubuntu, please point me to it. If you tell me to just make another bug report, please tell me why that will help in any way, shape, or form. Seriously. It's not helped the countless people so far, and the chances of it helping me seem nil. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1401623 Title: Corrupted mouse cursor on one of the screens To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1401623/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1417135] Re: Xorg Bug
Ajay Panwar, thank you for taking the time to report this and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html and https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs . We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. The behavior you expected, and 3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: bios-outdated-f9 ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1417135 Title: Xorg Bug To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1417135/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1318882] Re: lock screen not visible after resume
Jesse Gilles, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg 1318882 Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information. As well, given the information from the prior release is already available, testing a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1418029] Re: what f r u talking about
chris, thank you for taking the time to report this and helping to make Ubuntu better. ** Tags added: needs-full-computer-model ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1418029 Title: what f r u talking about To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1418029/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

prabhudev, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg-server REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1401623] Re: 1002:674a [HP Z620 Workstation] Corrupted mouse cursor on one of the screens
I can't try updating because it is my work desktop and I need to use stable version and don't have time to experiment with this. I went back to open source driver. Obviously the graphics performance and capabilities are poor but that's less of a problem for me. What Tynach said, I cannot agree more. It is completely ridiculous to ask people to create new bug reports all the time. This is simply not how software development works, if you treat every goddamn occurrence of a problem in every goddamn environment separately you never gonna fix nothing. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1401623 Title: 1002:674a [HP Z620 Workstation] Corrupted mouse cursor on one of the screens To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1401623/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

tc, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M2N68AM_PLUS/HelpDesk_Download/ an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (1804). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1337749] Re: High CPU usage after resizing a window
Cristopher, After upgrading to xserver-xorg-lts-utopic (Xorg 1.16), the CPU usage for desktop animations is down by about half - presumably due to the new GLAMOR optimizations. I suspect it may be reduced even further with the improvements in Xorg 1.17. With Catalyst, upgrading from Xorg 1.15 to 1.16 made no difference. But considering all the other problems I've had with Catalyst, I suspect that the poor 2D desktop performance is probably due to Catalyst itself, and not Xorg. So I would say that this bug report could be closed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1337749 Title: High CPU usage after resizing a window To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1337749/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1243642] Re: .Xmodmap not automatically loaded on start
This bug remains, and the problem is just as bad after converting from an .Xmodmap file to an xkb map: THE FILE MUST BE MANUALLY RELOADED ON AWAKENING. - A script in /etc/pm/sleep.d does not work. - A script on the desktop does not work. - Tearing hair out does not work. Auto-loading the map on startup is trivial. But how to auto-load even an xkb map file after a sleep? Or maybe, how to not lose the mappings during the sleep-wake process to begin with? Getting ready to revert to 12.04 and not re-upgrade until this bug is fixed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1243642 Title: .Xmodmap not automatically loaded on start To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1243642/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
