[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1424466] [NEW] Devel package not installable in 14.04.2 (mesa-lts-utopic
You have been subscribed to a public bug: [Impact] * Some -dev packages like ubuntu-sdk and libglew-dev cannot be installed when the lts-utopic stack is used. [Test Case] * Install the lts-utopic stack. * apt-get install ubuntu-sdk * Good: you get a whole list of packages to install. * Bad: apt-get install fails like pasted in the original bug report. * Also test the same without the lts-utopic stack, to make sure there are no regressions. [Regression Potential] * Low, this has been done for precise before, and mesa packaging has to be updated for every LTS release. Unfortunately there are no alternatives. :( [Other Info] * There's probably an apt bug in here too. Nudging the resolver by specifying libgl1-mesa-dev-lts-utopic and libgles2-mesa-dev-lts-utopic works, but I didn't find a good way to express this in the depends, and that would have to be done for every package. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision. Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1316090] Re: Unable to drop/ place files and links on second screen in dual screen set up
Hi Christopher, ORIGINAL BUG SUMMARY: As you'll remember I reported a bug for the XFCE desktop (Xubuntu 14.04LTS). [1] On one box (Xubuntu 14.04LTS amd64) with a dual screen setup it was not possible to place icons on the right hand screen. Icons wouldn't stick and return to their original prosition on the left hand screen. [2] All our boxes (2 Xubuntu 14.04LTS amd64 and 1 Xubuntu 14.04LTS i386, 3.13.0.46) started resetting the specific icon placement on the desktop about a month ago. This means that, if the user placed icons on a specific location on the desktop, after a reboot, the icon location changed. Often all icons were placed to the left hand default position, however, sometimes some, but not all were returned to a complete left hand default position. The uname -a info of all boxes are: The i386 install - Linux minipussy 3.13.0-46-generic #77-Ubuntu SMP Mon Mar 2 18:26:13 UTC 2015 i686 i686 i686 GNU/Linux The amd64 single screen install - Linux PUSSYcomputer 3.13.0-46-generic #77-Ubuntu SMP Mon Mar 2 18:23:39 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux The amd64 dual screen install - Linux HAL9000X 3.13.0-46-generic #77-Ubuntu SMP Mon Mar 2 18:23:39 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux METHOD: You asked me to check whether the daily versions also showed the same behaviour. Hence, I downloaded the daily/ current version of Xubuntu 14.04LTS, following the link you sent me. I installed them on a LiveUSB, using Unetbootin, and check for similar behaviour as I described above. After installing, I left everything in default except: ---Changed my keyboard layout with Settings Manager ---Changed the default icons on the desktop (e.g.home, system drives) to create a clean playing field. ---Added the Action Buttons to the top panel for easy shut down/ reboot. The daily/ current versions, as retrieved following your link, and used were: Linux xubuntu 3.16.0-30-generic #40~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Thu Jan 15 17:45:15 UTC 2015 i686 i686 i686 GNU/Linux RESULTS - i386: FYI, I made screenshots so you can see what happened. I placed files on the desktop and rebooted a couple of times. For i386, the same behaviour was observed. However, some, but not all icons were returned to their default position. See the images Screenshot - daily i386 before reboot.jpg Screenshot - daily i386 after reboot.jpg As you can see the position of some, but not all files were changed on the desktop. The files File 06 - File 08.jpg and the file Christoper (text of this message) were moved to a default left hand position. When the files were placed back to their original position (i.e. Screenshot - Daily i386 before reboot), a new reboot again changed the position of these files, placing them again on a left hand default position. Hence, this behaviour is reproduceable and consistent. Additional note 01: when moving the images (e.g. File 05 hanging.jpg, File 07.jpg) the cursor appearance changed. Could unfortunately not make a screenshot of it. It turned into 2 cursors/ arrows and a part of the image. This happened ONLY when moving the image files. The original (proper) appearance returned when for example placing the cursor somewhere in this text. Additional note 02: I quickly took a look in -/.config/xfce4/desktop during all this. Contrary to the installs on our production machines, this daily version DOES NOT create multiple icons.screen0-***.rc files. All through the process there was just one file on this location. RESULTS - amd64 - single screen setup Repeated the methodology as I described for the i386 install. However, this is a single screen set up (1280x800 laptop, amd64 install). Results were identical to the results with the i386 install. See images Screenshot - daily amd64 single screen before reboot.jpg Screenshot - daily amd64 single screen after reboot.jpg Again, this daily version DOES NOT create multiple icons.screen0-***.rc files. All through the process there was just one file on this location. The cursor change when moving a image file did not occur with this install. RESULTS - amd64 - dual screen setup This was done with a fresh LiveUSB install, not the same as used with the amd64 single screen box. I did do some additional settings of course, using the Display settings to disable the Mirror Screens setup and to place one screen right of the other. This is the only additional setting I did compared to the other 2 checks I did before. Again, I placed the icons as the previous tests. See image Screenshot - daily amd64 dual screen before reboot.jpg Surprisingly, I was not able to duplicate the reset to default left hand side behaviour as with the previous 1386 and amd64 single screen set ups. In the 10 or so reboots I did, some times changing the position of the files on the desktop around, or creating and then deleting one, the position of the remaining files stayed as set originally. I did find multiple icons.screen0*.rc files though: xubuntu@xubuntu:~$ cd

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1129409] Re: Nvidia and AMD graphics drivers should indicate whether they provide libcuda.so.1, libOpenCL.so.1, etc.
Actually looking at my nVidia equipped system, the nVidia packages installed on it, and my AMD system and the AMD packages installed on it right now... Thinking about it, shouldn't the AMD driver depend on ocl- icd-libopencl1 package? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1300557] Re: Screen resolution no longer works
No change in 15.04. I can add the resolution with xrandr, and after that I can use it. But after reboot, I have to do it again. The upgrade got stuck with a black screen and no networking, but I eventually got out of it with the apt-get dist-upgrade dance from the console. I hope that hasn't messed things up. It may matter that I've got the monitor's DVI port hooked up to my computer's HDMI port. It was the only way to get things working: the monitor doesn't support its full native resolution on HDMI, and the Haswell builtin graphics only supports the resolution on HDMI. But, the hardware can do it and it used to work from the settings GUI without hackery. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1300557 Title: Screen resolution no longer works To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1300557/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
