[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c
In an attempt to make some progress on this issue, I have uploaded a modified version of the xkeyboard-config package to my PPA at https://launchpad.net/~gunnarhj/+archive/ubuntu/cedilla-test It adds the keyboard layout "English (US, international - cedilla)". If you install xkb-data from my PPA and relogin, the new layout should become available in Text Entry. Please let us know if you think this would be an improvement. P.S. @J. S. Lopes: Hope this can be considered an answer to your questions for now. ;) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xkeyboard-config in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/518056 Title: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xkeyboard-config/+bug/518056/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1418295] Re: Black screen after resuming from suspend
As a follower and affected user by this bug, the workflow is unclear to me. Is Jeremy Jongsma asked to file a report upstream, or Job as assignee? In the meantime the importance has been reduced from critical to medium, and status from confirmed to incomplete. These changes in status probably means it will go down in priority and become more elusive, despite Jeremy having provided all sorts of logs and info. I'd be willing to do additional testing/logging if needed. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1437719] [NEW] Black Screen on user switch
Public bug reported: When switching users (primarly using Ctrl-Alt-F(7-10) the monitor will sometimes go black. This happens once or twice a day, although on occasion it doesn't occur for several days. It has occurred at least once a week since I installed Ubuntu 14.04.1. It seems to be more of a problem since moving to 14.04.2 - I did perform installation of the Utopic Kernel, X, and MesaGL packages, but this is only perception. At the same time I switched from Unity to Cinnamon (Jeremy Clarkson isn't the only dinosaur roaming the world) - but I have confirmed that just running Unity desktops is vunerable. The display can be restored by sudo service lightdm restart - run from an ssh login from another system. Steps to consistently reproduce the problem is simply to perform abusive user stress testing: switching from one user to another rapidly: as soon as the display switches go back to the other. Usually I can get a black screen with this method in under a minute with Unity desktops. I have the same issue with another system (Dell Vostro 3550) reported in Bug #1437557 - submitting a new defect since this is different hardware and even though the defects look the same there might be differences underneath the hood causing the problem. 14.04.2 Trusty 3.16.0-33-generic. I'll edit this report shortly with additional system info. The US-International keyboard is used by lots of people in Brazil, and the touch-type friendly, and standard, stroke for obtaining the the common ç letter in Portuguese is the ' + c combination. There is not definitive solution to this problem, which is very annoying for Brazilians, it is easy to see, by googling "cedilla linux", or "cedilla ubuntu", how many people is searching for a definitive solution for this problem. Currently, one can get the ç character with Alt-Gr + , or + , but these are not adequate solutions, particularly because this is not good for touch typing nor is the standard historic behaviour. I have suggested in many forums, bug trackers, etc, that a new keyboard layout should be available on installation, which should be called, for example, US-International with dead-keys (cedilla) There are already many keyboard layouts available, and having one more solving this problem for all of us brazilians would be great, and the solution appears to be simple, but we could not get this to be implemented as of yet. At this point, there have been linux versions in which the ç was the default result of the combined strokes, but now, in the most recent versions (Ubuntu 13.10, for instance), it is back to the accented c, which makes my upgrades, particularly for my parents and friends, an enormous headache. Please help us so that this simple addition reach to correct people. Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1366661] Re: Xorg freeze
Hi again, All the systems i have tested: ubuntu 12.04.5, ubuntu 14.04.2, debian 8 jessie gnome/kde desktop. In all tests the system crashed, but with nouveau drivers the system runs fine without any problem. The problem is between nvidia/kernel, maybe an ACPI bug or nvidia driver bug. A long time ago this bug( nvidia has fallen ) occurs in windows 7 ultimate too. So it is PROBABLY a nvidia bug, but without no sure. If more people test would be interesting. Test with Fedora for example, a non-like debian distro. 2015-03-21 19:57 GMT-03:00 Luiz : > Hi Christopher, > > I tested again with 14.04.2 version. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1276379] Re: fglrx-installer 2:13.101-0ubuntu0.0.1 fails with some "legacy" devices (Radeon HD 2000 3000 4000)
As described from many users before, the first Catalyst driver available inside the Ubuntu restricted repository was this one [1]. This driver supports all Ati Radeon HD graphic cards (I don't know if it supports most recent HD 7xxx or 8xxx series, but this isn't the problem). Users were able to install fglrx driver for HD 2xxx, 3 and 4xxx graphic cards without problems. Since Point Releases [2] were released, new kernel and Xorg stacks were used. The old fglrx driver can't support new kernel and xorg, so upgrade the fglrx driver to a newer version is a *must*. Canonical can't just push new HWE stacks without providing support for new graphic cards through fglrx drivers. Due to this, updated fglrx drivers published inside the Ubuntu repos broke the systems with old HD 2xxx, 3xxx and 4xxx cards. AMD dropped the Radeon HD 2xxx, 3 and 4xxx support. For Ati Radeon HD 2xxx, 3xxx and 4xx users, you have different solutions: - install Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS or Ubuntu 14.04 LTS with new open source Radeon [3] drivers (pre-installed in Ubuntu), which have a better power management support, better heat control and general better stability and functionalities. Don't install fglrx drivers if you use these distributions. - install Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS, install updates and don't install a new HWE stack. Then install fglrx 13.1 from AMD website [4]. This is the last fglrx version which supports Radeon HD 2xxx, 3xxx and 4xxx graphic cards and can be used only with the Ubuntu 12.04 original stack. - install Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS and install old fglrx drivers inside the repository *fglrx=2:8.960-0ubuntu1*. Remember to not update this driver through system updates. - a combination of the solutions presented before (HWE stack downgrade and blablabla - non the best solution ever - ) Consider that recent open Radeon drivers works really better that 2 years ago, so try them. = Related to this bug = Ubuntu 12.04: consider to make available the fglrx 13.1 driver inside 12.04 repos, only installable on Ubuntu 12.04.1 original kernel and xorg stack. Alternatively, prevent the update from 8.960 version to actual 13.350 fglrx driver (or future versions) for HD 2xxx, 3xxx and 4xxx users. Ubuntu 14.04: this bug can't be solved, AMD dropped support for these graphics cards and the old driver can't work with new kernels and xorg stacks. Use open Radeon driver and don't try to install fglrx drivers. @Timo, yes I installed both packages. I went to 15.04 beta 2 yesterday and so far haven't seen any graphics issues, but the touchpad issue exists (as @Julian indicates). For now I'll probably stick with that and one of the touchpad workarounds I can live with for now, under the assumption that 15.04 is the most likely to see the fix first. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to libinput in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1414930 Title: [Lenovo ThinkPad 2015 models] Buttons of Synaptics trackpad doesn't work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hwe-next/+bug/1414930/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
