[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1441847] Re: Please backport libdrm, xtrans for 14.04.3

2015-04-21 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Hello Timo, or anyone else affected,

Accepted libdrm into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libdrm/2.4.60-2~ubuntu14.04.1 in a
few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1441985] Re: do not know

2015-04-21 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
david, thank you for taking the time to report this and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, this report didn't include enough
information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs
effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html and
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs . We'd be grateful if you would
then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. The behavior you expected, and
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Thank you for your understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1314787] Re: Memory leak

2015-04-21 Thread Mediaklan
I was able to reduce (but not solved) the leak somehow, for 3 days now, using
swappiness. I have slightly icreased my swap partition, and setup like this :
cat /proc/sys/vm/swappiness
sudo sysctl vm.swappiness=40
sudo mousepad /etc/sysctl.conf
# confirm you have this line :
vm.swappiness=40
Now for the strange part : Memory leak is still happening, gradually reaching
40% as I am using my laptop more and more. But once it reaches 40%, the memory
leak won't go any further and i don't see my swap increasing neither (which I
found very strange, I chech and recheck, swap is all well and active). Xorg is
still the higher ram eater (but not the only one eating ram), but now, it seems
stuck to 40% which, at least prevents the need to reboot my laptop as often as
before.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1441958] Re: Screen is shaking after installing 14.01

2015-04-21 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
kane oakenfull, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better. As per http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/H61M-
HVS/?cat=Downloados=BIOS an update to your computer's buggy and
outdated BIOS is available (2.50). If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then
please mark this report Status New.

Thank you for your understanding.

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I'm getting purple or green spots on the video picture when playing
videos with VLC. I changed the video output to OpenGL or X11, and the

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1314787] Re: Memory leak

2015-04-21 Thread GVS
Guys: I know that some of you think that this issue exists independent
of kernel version. Personally, that is simply not correct. Of course I
can only go on my own detailed experience as there is no official
response to this issue. However, I can reproduce the issue at will. I
can also get rid of it at will ... and that should tell you something.

1) I do NOT have this issue in any way shape or form using kernel
branches 3.12, or 3.14.

2) Installing kernels from the 3.13 or 3.16 (I have not bothered with
3.15 branches) branches result in the issue instantly back.

3) AMD has well documented kernel support issues. AMD fglrx integrates
itself into the kernel... so how can it NOT be a kernel issue?

At least be willing to try the 3.14 branch. Version 3.14.39 is
available for download here:

http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.14.39-utopic/

It is easy to install and easy to purge if it does not work for you.
Instructions were given in one of my recent posts.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1437394] Re: X freezes for unknown reason

I will update to the enablement stack. Since it's not something I can

occurred in perhaps the last two weeks so I'm wondering if an update in

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1446919] [NEW] Unable to login after installing kubuntu-full and restarting. I am only able to login usingUbuntu with Upstart in the GRUB bootloader screen.

2015-04-21 Thread vijayakrishna
Public bug reported:

I recently installed Ubuntu 15.04 in my system and then upgraded using apt-get
dist-upgrade command.
After upgrading, I restarted and then installed kubuntu-full package using
apt-get install kubuntu-full command.

I restarted after installing kubuntu-full.

I am not able to login after restarting my laptop. Laptop trackpad is
not accessible and no mouse pointer is visible on login screen. Laptop
keyboard is accessible only for issuing REISUB command. I am not able
to access any virtual terminal.

I am only able to login correctly by selecting Ubuntu with Upstart in
the GRUB bootloader screen.

2015-04-21 Thread Samir
Forgot to mention... I tried Ubuntu 14.04 and 14.10. On 12.04, I tried
and it seemed OK but I am not so sure as I do not intend to use 12.04.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1442585] Re: no multiple display

2015-04-21 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Joseph, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As
per
http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=5229463swLangOid=8swEnvOid=4158
an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then
please mark this report Status New.

Thank you for your understanding.
