[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 859101] Re: fglrx 2:8.881-0ubuntu2: fglrx kernel module failed to build (kernel includes at ... not found or incomplete file: .../linux/version.h)

2015-05-04 Thread Clay Figley
Just for redundancy, Mobility Radeon HD 42xx, Ubuntu 14.04.2
Is there anything I can do to help resolve this?
I've uploaded every bit of info available to a report here: http://goo.gl/XIrDp7
Anyone with know-how may want to check it out.

I'm going to update my system; there are some AMD drivers in my updates list.
I'll be watching this post.
If there's anything I can do to assist a more advanced user by replicating this
problem, I'd be glad to help!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1449549] Re: upon wake up from suspend, mouse driver will not load. must then do hard reset.

2015-05-04 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Randall Bowman, could you please test the latest upstream kernel
available from the very top line at the top of the page (the release
names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily
folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will
allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.

If the test did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into
the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test
the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version
specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please
add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil
icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Where XY and Z are numbers corresponding to the kernel version.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1417826] Re: display acting up. overlay .. ?

2015-05-04 Thread Morten Hundevad
Well this one also came back after this switch to gonme and back

(Reboot fixed it again)

You can see the cursor is on both monitor, and the left monitor scrolls
sideways to also display right monitor content on the left.

--GOME TEST
NOTES--
Error did not happen in gnome, but i now remember why i cant use gnome.

If a move window to laptop monitor and try to maximize it it will be
moved to left monitor and be large there. (Same thing go for flash and
games and video in full screen) get get it ti sick on Right monitor

If monitor's position is switched position of the problem is also
switched. (meaning that full screen is ALWAYS left regardless if it is
build in monitor or external in that location.)

--GOME TEST
NOTES--

I looked at what

is replaced by placeholders (like John Doe, example.com, etc.) and post
the file here. Would you be able to work from there onward?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1389215] Re: Brightness controls are not working in Unity / Xorg because of Nvidia proprietary driver.

2015-05-04 Thread Hans Deragon
I fully understand that there are no resources to test this. Still, the
bug is valid and I cannot provide more input. It should be remained to
'new' to avoid expiration. It should not expire; it exist for real.
And having this bug open, someone else having the same problem might one
day stumble upon it.

BTW, what do you mean by 'live environment'?

  These posts describe my problem:
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1393169
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1396361
But in my case, only when using multiple monitors it happens. I use one
monitor rotated and one not. Like:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81886

The only way I've found to remove the extra mouse cursor is to drag an image
in Chrome (?). It doesn't work with an image in Firefox nor in another program.
Anyway, the extra mouse coursor appears again at any time, so I have no
solution for this.

It looks like you are using GNOME Flashback (Compiz). I'm asking you to
test GNOME Flashback (Metacity) instead.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1404332] Re: Touchpad cursor loses precision after VGA monitor plugged in

2015-05-04 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Dan Smith, the issue you are reporting is an upstream one. Could you
please report this problem to the appropriate mailing list (linux-input)
by following the instructions verbatim at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/kernel ?

Please provide a direct URL to your e-mail to the mailing list once you
have made it so that it may be tracked via http://vger.kernel.org/vger-
lists.html . It can take a day for the new e-mail to show up in the
respective archive.

Thank you for your understanding.

Jordilz, so if you actually install it, does that issue persist?

As well, if you switch to GNOME Flashback (Metacity/Compiz) does this
WORKAROUND the Unity issue noted in the live environment?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1450332] Re: Xorg freeze

2015-05-04 Thread John Rose
I was not able to upgrade BIOS FA to FB because FB has the wrong Id.
This is due to the motherboard being Rev 2.0 (checked by looking at
motherboard). In other words, the PC seller forced in the wrong BIOS -
FA which is for Rev 2.2 . So I upgraded the BIOS to FH - the latest non-
beta for Rev 2.0 dated 2013 i.e 2 years later than FA.

However, still not able to change users by selecting different user from
top of screen - screen just goes black. I'm able to change user by
logging out current user before logging 'new' user. BTW I only have 2
users on an 8GB PC.

Output asked for:
john@Desktop:~$ sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s
bios-release-date
FH
02/25/2013
